My god. Just listened to the whole hour of local radio - there cannot be a person in the country that has confidence in her: Newscast - The Liz Truss BBC Local Radio Interviews - BBC Sounds There's not a single topic where she sounds on safe ground.
https://twitter.com/ElectionMapsUK/status/1575526882853810192?t=gPPrZHPnsRrm3t4YVRGPBw&s=19 Tories would be forecast to win only 61 seats based on the YouGov poll.
They seem to have got carried away by the excitement of winning. Truss’s supporters were ecstatic, taunting Labour with it for a day or two, but they didn’t seem to have had a conversation with anyone outside their bubble about the risks. It’s going to be a tough winter for many and if interest rates go up at the rates being suggested, the home owning, bottom half of the middle is going to feel it very badly. They won’t be spending, nor will anyone else and so much for growth.
The answer that people could have fracking if they wanted it in their area, was quite spectacularly daft.
Meanwhile Election Calculus produces this map from the same YouGov results: Tough election day for Liz if that comes to pass.
What? Thanks, guv'nor, for the 1% cut in tax that'll put (checks wage slip) £4.00 per week extra in my pocket. That'll keep the wolves at bay! And thanks as well for reversing that NI increase that other lot were going to implement....oh, hang on, weren't you both in that other lot's cabinet? Confusing all this politics malarkey. But at least you've got the backs of all us 'ordinary folks.'
Beaconsfield is still predicted to retain the useless Joy Morrissey. I genuinely think a flowerpot with a blue ribbon could win here.
I can’t quite remember the route, but HS2 isn’t levelling Beaconsfield is it? She’d not have a hope if it was.
Nope. Goes north by Denham, before going underground through Amersham (about 5km north of Beaconsfield) and the Chilterns. The only way I can see us getting rid of her is for the government to try to force through significant affordable housing. She cried at Boris' leaving speech, so you know exactly how capable she is.
The state of play around Great Missenden towards Wendover is that they have constantly caused diversions around what is a simple route from one to the other. They also unbelievably got caught running huge water waste during the summer drought (still carried on into September). The signs up around the villages saying no HS2 traffic are often ignored causing blocked roads. All in all an absolute disgrace.
JFC: https://www.politico.eu/europe-poll-of-polls/united-kingdom/ That's below the 30% base/core level Tory support.
Lowest ever opinion poll rating for the Tories was 18.5% in a Gallup Poll, 1995. C’mon Lizzie, Kwasi! You can do it and be a Record Breaker!
Interesting map on the Government petitions website (this petition is debated in the HoC on Monday (17th)). https://petitionmap.unboxedconsulting.com/?petition=619781
It’s a bit of fun innit! That 39 point poll lead translated into seats. Those areas in blue, I will never, ever live there. https://twitter.com/electionmapsuk/status/1583366816692260865?s=46&t=rpo671XWC4b7uKHkIvJFmg
Sunak bounce! Tories up 6pts to, er, 20%. https://twitter.com/electionmapsuk/status/1585924304549675010?s=46&t=5VCCxb42aJgTtWbHjeSsHQ
