I wonder if Mariappa will potentially be available this summer? Mariappa, Angella and/or Hoban could make a very decent central defensive unit.
None of those are defenders who can really take charge of the defence though, they're all very good centre backs but need something like the former. Like a Mackay to your DeMerit
Is that Mariappa who starts every game for Palace? Maybe you'd like Mike Williamson back as well, he doesn't play regular Premier League football either. Oh wait...
I apologise for not being up to date with the team selections of a team I have absolutely no affinity whatsoever to. I bow down to your superior knowledge of bottom half Premier League teams.
Albrighton (Villa) and Brkic (Udinese) apparently confirmed as targets in a conversation a fan had with Nani.
There's no way that he has told anyone who our targets are. More of the same nonsense which is going to make this a very long summer...
Accidental dislike. But yeah, it's the same as fans asking Troy if he'll be here next year. Players are strongly discouraged from publicly discussing these things. After the Huddersfield game someone asked Troy if he was leaving and he shrugged and said "well, everyone says I am so I guess that means I am".
Yes; not all of them came off, of course. I'm not sure why you find the concept of having an informal chat all that bizarre. It happens all the time in all fields; I have contacts in some large tech/software firm and I occasionally find out interesting info about things before it becomes widely available. Most people just instantly dismiss these kinds of rumours as false for reasons like "there is no way he'd say that!" so there is no risk involved. I remember a few years back that Graham Simpson was bragging about a new player we were going to sign, Umaru Bangura (remember him?), who Simpson claimed was going to be the dog's *******s. It didn't work out that way in practice (we loaned him to some Norwegian team immediately to help him get a work permit and he was never seen again), but the signing was known about well in advance of the player actually coming onto the books or the transfer even being reported in the press. Note that I can't vouch for the particular claim I posted above having any credibility (I don't know anything about the person making the claim), but I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand either, especially when one of the players is an Udinese goalkeeper who lost his place in the team this year.
Fair enough! Apparently Albrighton has been linked with Everton so that may be less likely, although it seems surprising that Everton would want him, but Brkic definitely makes sense
I would be very surprised if we landed Albrighton. If we are after him it's definitely a long shot, but sometimes they come off.
Deeney was talking to fans down the front of the rookery before the Huddersfield game and was answer questions about a move. Pretty much repeated what he said in his BBC interview but you could tell from his tone that he isn't looking to leave. It will be down to if the right price comes in for him. He's not going to force this.
I have seen him on many occasions as i have been able to seen Reading fairly often over the last two seasons. Against Arsenal in the 5-7 game he dealt with everything he needed to for 70 minutes against top quality players. Inn the 2-2 with Chelsea he was immense at the back if i remember correctly it was him and i he was impressive against us in january so i think Gorkks would be a brilliant signing, knows the league, no nonsense and a massive character in the dressing room.
If we got Tommy Smith Kasper Gorkks, Vydra, Tozser and Westwood i would be very happy and what about Reece Wabara for back up we were linked with him before released by City, worth a punt?
Sounds like he would have been perfect for us last season. Would have fitted right in with our defence
In my opinion i think we should sign a lot of free agents because we really need quite a few championship experienced players my list for ins would be: -Kieran Westwood (solid keeper at this level) -Reece Wabara (Pacey full back who impressed on loan at Doncaster this season) -Kaspers Gorkks (Championship experienced center half like fitz wins everything in the air) -Chris Eagles (We know what he brings we need a right midfielder so why not him) -Daniel Tozser (for obvious reasons) -Matej Vydra (for obvious reasons) -Tommy Smith (get some experience in the back room he said he was open to a move so i think we should go for it)
Scored 10 in 18 this season for Birmingham. Could be worth a look. He's Italian as well so would count towards the Pozzos' quota.
Pepe Mel, now available on a free and seems to fit some of our fans need to have such people at the club on a short term basis
The day after the suggestion he's off. I thought Udinese should have come in for him and then sent him here. His style would suit the Championship down to the ground with potential to improve his team play and technique. Never mind. Ayling has signed a new contract at Yeovil I think mitchyman. He'd be ideal though a shining light in a season of struggle for the Glovers. He has time on his side allied to his ability. We'd have to move fast as I am sure other clubs are on his trail with Yeovil's relegation.
