Bit of a pointless thread but I'm very bored.

Simple really, who would you like us to sign this summer realistically?

I really rate Johnnie Jackson down at Charlton think if we're going to spend a bit of money then he'd be a good fit.

I think the ex Bayern boy Dale Jennings is really developing at Barnsley and if they go down then he'd be a good addition.

    Vydra and Toszer obviously.

I think we should minimise our transfer dealings this summer provided no one leaves. If we can get Toszer permanently that would be wonderful and if Vydra comes back, even better.

The one position I'd like us to sort is to bring in a solid, powerful, no-nonsense centre half.

No bothered about naming specific names but for me a new first team GK, a decent centre back in the Championship mould, Tozser and a striker who can play off the shoulder of the opposition defence.

If we only signed Vydra and Toszer and kept Deeney it would probably be our best transfer window in the 15 or so years I've supported this club.

Think Jackson recently signed a new contract at Charlton.

We may keep hold of Riera and I agree regarding the centre half. We may be looking at a new GK if Almunia moves back to Spain and I'd like to see another quality CM as I can't see Merkel returning.

Almunia stays and Brkic comes bond on loan
Wes Morgan or Mvoto of Barnsley
    Tozser and ruddy Austin leeds
    Vydra

Wouldn't mind one of Jackson Martinez or Jefferson Farfan.

Very difficult to do as though I hope there are not too many outgoings, I can see Almunia and Cassetti retiring and Farroni (and perhaps Ekstrand) heading back to Italy. Injuries to their strikers permitting, I can see Deeney off to Burnley.

    Toszer is a must.

An experienced keeper, a commanding centre back, a pacey centre back are a must. so is a pacey striker. Instead of just numer, I would rather we just got 4 higher quality players. None of these who have played in Serie B or la Liga B, the likes of Acuna are not cut out for this league.

For keeper, i am going to throw a wildcard out and say Craig Gordon. Been out for 2 years, now fit and training for the past few months, will come free and probably pretty cheap. Risky I know but Bond can be a more than capable understudy for the odd game. Stays fit, the Pozzos can sell him for a few million at the end of the season if we don't do well. Failing him, go back and get Kuszczak on a free or Matt Gilks who is also on a free.

Centre backs. I am assuming the French bloke Frey will come in. He will be the Cassetti replacement. I am really not sure on the other, so why not get back Mariappa?

I like the suggestion of the ex Bayern lad, though he seems to play on left when I have seen him, i see a future as a more central attacking role, running at defences with pace, not an out and out striker but playing behind the front man. I might even take a chance on his team mate Melis, who was once rated at Chelsea as we need a more commanding physical presence in the middle of midfield.

Basically, going for free and experience in the Championship, for which we know it won't happen!

On another note, Vincenzo Iaquinta might well be available again, ex Udinese,34 old Italian, Nanni will probably go for him!

    Kuszczak, Vydra, Tozser and Riera.

Wouldn't mind getting Chalobah back next season either, scored his first for Boro on saturday, hopefully Chelsea realise this season has been a backward step for him.
If we don't get Riera I'd also quite like Helan who we were linked to a while ago.

Definitely a CB, Mariappa is a good shout but think he is used a fair bit at Palace. Would definitely like a CB who has played a lot in the Championship. Wonder if WBA would sell McCauley?

Also, what about Robbie Brady? Was amazing last season and started this season really well before getting injured. Hasn't really got back into the Hull side although keeps getting re-injured too.

If we sign any 2 of the following i'll be happy:

    Vydra
Macheda (contract up in the summer, doubt any prem clubs will go for him)
    Brkic
    Toszer
Nathan Redmond (if Norwich go down, I can see them having to sell a few players)
Heitenga (out of contract in the summer, 31, could leave if Fulham go down)

  20. nisman94

    nisman94 International Man of Mystery

These two will both be in the Prem. No way will Redmond drop down after leaving Birmingham for the Prem and Heitinga only went to Fulham for the money, so chances are he'll go to a team with money.

we need a few more english players for the home grown quota. Doesn't it go up to 8 in the match day squad next year?

Reckon Forest will sell a few players think they'll struggle to meet FFP.

Would love Jamie Patterson but think his fee will be in the millions.

Can't see us getting too many in this summer. More quality over quantity. Toszer is an absolute must for me - even if we do have to go slightly over budget for it.

Goalkeeper - If Almunia doesn't sign then someone who is ready to step in and push/compete with Bond. Young, hungry and with very good potential is a must. Also a younger 3rd choice keeper on a 3 yr contract.

Defence - Not sure if we need to bring anyone in. Losing Cassetti is a big price in the influence department. As much as I don't rate Belkalem he has potential - only if he plays in the central position though.

Midfield - Again, we seem to have a good enough group on paper. Toszer is the must sign player though along with another in the defensive midfield role if Iriney doesn't return.

Forwards - If Deeney goes then Ranegie steps in to play his role as the strong forward. Forestieri comes back and does what he likes. I'd like to see Acuna back as I don't think he was played in the role he should have been. He was dropping very deep when he was a striker that played off the shoulder.

The way I see it is minimal change. We don't need a complete overhaul. We've got good players, we just need to make them a team.

The first four you mention would be excellent and Chalobah to sit next to Toszer as the second holding midfielder position is a great shout. I have a mate who is a season ticket holder at Sheff Wed and he says Helan is rubbish and certainly when I've seen him he hasn't impressed. Brady is a PL player at a PL club and will not come to us. Mariappa, just an inevitable shout for an ex player.

FFP is not going to have any effect as the big clubs have already got their legal teams ready to challenge the regulations. The league do not have the resources to fight this. They have already lost the Leeds ownership case.

The Forest chairman has already said he will be giving Pearce £7m next season to buy a striker so that indicates what they think of its enforceability.

Why would they deem him surplus to requirements? He's featured pretty regularly, hasn't he?

  30. ForzaWatford

Not sure. I think Pulis has used him as a squad player and used him because of a lack of options rather then a liking for him. I'd imagine he's on quite decent wages as well.

Can't say I've followed how he's done this year but did he not feature that much in the first half of the season but now plays on a regular basis

Tozser signed is a must. Merkel important cover but not vital. Brkic for first choice. Keep Deeney. Move heaven and earth to bring Mapps and Vydra back.

This would, for me, be the perfect transfer window.

Likelihood of it all happening? Very close to zero.

  34. I've been changing my mind quite a lot, and finally settled on 4-2-3-1. We don't need much, just Tozser and Brkic (assuming Mooo retires which I think he will). Anya and Rieri both fit and I'd even have Fabrinni back in this system. Merkel fits in several positions; Mcboo understudy to Abdi as the attacking pivot; Ranegie back up to Deeney and Uche as 2nd cover if he's ready.

    .....................Brkic.....................
    Doyley....Angella....Ekstrand.....Pudil
    ............Tozser.....Battochio..........
    .....Murray.......Abdi.........Fessi......
    ...................Deeney...................

I'd say we would be weakest in the full back positions so I'd want a left and right FB. On top of that then grab any quality that happens to come along...Torje or similar.
