Pre-injury Richard "Shoooot!" Johnson would. If he hadn't have been crocked I reckon we'd have sold him for big money in short order. Younger Robbo might be in with a shout. Most of the others wouldn't even make the bench.

As far as the Capoue/Stambouli fees go, if they're 5 million apiece, bear in mind we sold Bouazza to Fulham for 4 million. They both come with a far better pedigree then Bouazza, and we're getting close to 10 years since the Bouazza transfer. This business could prove to be incredible value.

 

A Spurs fan at work seems to be delighted that Spurs sold Capoue for £11.4m.... How do I break this to him?

 

Late reports tonight from the sports journalists at The telegraph saying that Stambouli is on his way out of Spurs even though he doesn't want to go. Spurs do not want him.

Looks like this one should be tied up very soon since we're the only club in for him and a fee has already been agreed between us and them.

 

So presumably he'll be in a sulk for 3 months after he unfortunately has no option but to join us ? If he doesn't get in the first 11 immediately he'll be crying himself to sleep at night. Always good to spend close to £5m on a player who'd rather not play for you.

 

Haven't heard about him sulking at not playing for Spurs. He may be angry, and think "f**k you Spurs, I'll show you" and be amazing...... Or he'll make Diakite look like vicar.

 

We offered him a deal a fair few weeks ago and I'm a bit nervous it's dragging on so long...

We are clearly his last resort which is why he's not signed yet. wasn't suggesting he'd sulked at spurs but if he isn't wanted there and "has to" come to us, and then doesn't get in the starting 11, I assume he won't be delighted.

We can't force him to sign a contract so of course he has a choice! If Spurs don't want him then he'll have plenty of offers I'm sure so if he doesn't want to sign for Watford then he doesn't have to. Is that so hard to understand? If we are really his only offer, which I highly doubt, then he'll have to accept that Spurs don't want him and ask his agent to find him a club he does want to move to.

 

So you think his agent has been sitting on his backside ? How long ago is it we first enquired ? You don't think his agent might have checked his options out ? Are you really struggling to understand this ? HIS choice was to stay and play for spurs. If that option has been taken away from, then we are his consolation prize as it seems no-one else is showing any interest. He'll have lots to prove and that will work in our favour but my point was IF he doesn't start and effectively swaps spurs reserves for the reserves at a club he didn't really want to be at in the first place, he won't be happy. Understand ? Clearly if we are paying £4m+ the expectation is that he will perform and be a 1st team regular so hopefully the issue won't arise anyway. can we move on now ? For example if Badu doesn't sign for Stoke, do we want him and is there room for Badu and Stam ??

According to a reliable Spurs ITK, he has had interest from clubs in Italy, France and Germany but would prefer to stay in England so I do think it's likely you'll tie up a deal for him.

That's old news, it is personal terms which are holding things up.

 

I believe the deal between us and Spurs has been done for a while, its just Stambouli we ve been waiting on.

Now that Behrami is coming he might not be guarenteed to start now
