No and some seem very quick to make their views known if not selected.

Maybe not with Edwards but we have heard of players not being happy with previous managers for various reasons .

And the hierarchy obviously agree at time with them .

My top 5 managers of the 22/23 season would probably be:

    1) Fergie: proved to be the experienced head we needed to get promotion over the line, although soured the mood with his tirade against the fans at the promotion party in Cassiobury Park.

    2) Bilic: no one will forget the 11 wins out of his first 11 games, not least the 9-0 win at Stoke on his debut. But the 0-0 draw at home to Hull in his 12th made his sacking inevitable.

    3) Sanchez Flores: his third spell will be remembered for shoring up our much maligned defence in March, giving Fergie a platform to build on. Playing Joao Pedro at right back was however inexcusable.

    4) Putin: clearly only came here as he was desperate to get back into employment but did a solid job. Built up a good rapport with the players and fans but over reliance on 1980s era tactics was his downfall.

    5) Edwards: had to put him in fifth as he obviously did a lot better job than the ‘December Five’. Nonetheless fans probably expected more.

Shame Beppe’s second comeback was ruined by the fact that the mental asylum he was working at refused to let him out because he d now progressed to inmate and was refused work release and consequently oversaw less games than Oscar Garcia

Am genuinely excited about Bilics appointment but slightly surprised in that Gino generally likes to appoint managers who are so under qualified their eternal gratitude means he can push them around .

Bilic is clearly not one of those so hopefully he won’t go the same way as Pearson , a character of similar backbone .

    First Interview

He sounds very professional and well spoken. He does have experience with a relegated team as he says which may or may not be helpful. Talked a bit about player mental fatigue which was interesting also.

What the hell is with the terrible background music? I know we're a sitcom of a club, but they don't need to make it like a bad American one.

Great interview. He has the look that if you asked the wrong question, he would smash you in the face. I love that in a manager. Parallels with Jokanovic.

Trying to think, but surely, he's the most high-profile manager we've ever employed in the Championship. I know Zola was a top player, and seemed to be a coup at the time, but I'm struggling to think of anyone stronger than Bilic at Championship level.

You can see by what he says that he considers Watford a big club, with great facilities and a squad who should do very well. He even likes the fact that the directors are around the place a lot!!

I think he's going to do very well at Watford. He should really be able to turn the form around. I liked the fact he said we need to be solid and compact. This is obvious and is fundamental to any successful side, but so many coaches overlook it. Edwards certainly did.

I also listened to WD18's interview with Jonathan Bond and he speaks of Bilic in glowing terms. Looks like we've finally got a good coach who will be a good fit at the club.

I hope the "Gino Out" protests do not harm the team. We've really all got to get behind this new reset. It does nobody any good creating a negative atmosphere.

I'm not in the Gino Out camp, but I want him to change a lot of things. Bottom line though when you take away the granular detail, we are a stronger club since their association with us. Our profile is a lot bigger; facilities have improved dramatically and even though there are a lot of things wrong, we are still probably better off with them than without.

Hope you're right though most new managers always sound good and say the right thing in their first interviews.
    I do like the appointment.
I wonder if he was considered in the summer. Gino wanting Bilic yet backed Scott's choice, but now the risk of poor performances and yet wanting more control was just too much. Normal order resumed.

Speaks well and sure he he has good ideas but if the players don’t win a few games or perform well he’ll be gone soon enough .

Won’t be afforded time to get used to the players and put his ideas across .

He looks good to be fair. But most managers do, until they get punched in the face!

Said exactly what I expected just like any new manager/coach. Just find it extremely difficult to motivate myself towards this shambles of a club. Still not even sure if I will bother watching Sunday but I'm weak and will probably switch on at some period.

First manager with an ear stud thing?

Saying all the right things and seems to have a plan, I like the fact that he wants the team to be 'arrogant in a positive way' - really hope this works out this time!

Hopefully it won't be too difficult to coach out that horrid playing style from under Edwards.

Awful background music, who comes up with these things.

The starting formation will be the decider.

You can't be "arrogant" with 3 at the back unless you have the Zola squad.

What we need is João on the ball as much as possible. While I appreciated his defensive performance under Edwards, I think it was due to frustration at being out of the game.

Asprilla, João, Sarr, Davis. If you can't get goals out of that...

I haven't watched the Bilic interview, what's the point? It'll be the same soundbites we've heard from every head coach for the last 3 years. Pretty soon it'll be clear that he can't coach the mistakes out of our defenders or make the midfielders pass a football and he'll be gone. Then like clockwork the COGs will rise up and tell us that it was the right decision to sack him.

It isnt the club its the owner and the gaggle of yes men and criminals he has around him. The club is still ours, he needs to be reminded he is just a custodian.

Although we all love to see a player giving his all for the team, it pains me a little to see Pedro defending deep. He needs to around and in the opposition box ,where he can really hurt them.

I am sure the defence and players in general will be told in no uncertain terms they need to improve by a very experienced international defender and manager . But will they listen or care ?

Bilic asked for an iPad and Giaretta sorted it for him. You know what, this could be the beginning of a beautiful working relationship between the two. All is forgiven Pozzo, your Sporting Director has clearly upped his game since his return. He's worth every penny.
