They've probably got a whole generation of fans who've been born and grown up in the shadow of the Deeney sell on clause. I'd like to think Robert Winston is planning one of those long-running tv series to track the blight the lack of an onward Deeney transfer has/will have on their lives.

Can’t see our sell on fee being more than 20%. £10m max I reckon.

So the narrative is 'don't worry son u only have to play one season for these c@nts'!! Ricky obviously didnt like the club although he does have a positive view of the town. He couldn't wait to get on his bike. That's one of the many things I love about JP, as well as being vastly technically superior to Ricky he seems to be enjoying being here and is committed to the club. Maybe the club learnt their lesson with Ricky and made more effort to help JP settle. JP had a tough experience in his last year at Flu, the club treated him really well but he got quite a bit of grief from the fanbase so I guess he's feeling the Watford love. Whereas Ricky was hanging out with Luiz and Willian who probably thought Watford were too small for Ricky. Also they are very different personalities, JP has a classicly positive and upbeat Brazilian demeanor whereas Ricky's disposition is more reminiscent of Adriano or Maicosuel. Personally I think Ricky is a great player. I wouldnt be surprised if he wins 100 caps with Brazil. He's way too good for Everton but he's not as good as Sarr.

If anyone is going to have a strop and go on strike, it's Richarlison. This is great news even if he stays.

There will be a sell-on clause, you can be sure of that, but it will be only on the difference over what Everton spent to sign him. I looked on TranferMarkt and they have the figure as £35.28m, which probably means we sold for €40m. I think Everton will easily double their money selling to PSG, so even if it's only a 10% sell-on, we could be in line to benefit from around £4m. Not too shabby when you consider this as bonus money that couldn't have been in the budget plan. Add to that the £2m we are due from the Sancho deal, it will be a good window for unexpected income.

Until they come in for Sarr to replace him.

If there were add-ons in the sale to Everton that haven’t yet been achieved, I wonder how that works if they sell him?

As surely we sold him on the proviso of those add-ons being included - and I’m sure they can’t just sell him to make sure they don’t have to pay them. Would they become payable as well? Or a percentage of them divided by time left on his deal?

Either way, not a great summer for Everton this - losing Richarlison and Ancelotti. Not so sure they’d go for Zaha…that ship has sailed I think. Could see Everton trying to get Sarr direct but I doubt (hope) we’d tell them to f*ck right off.

How do you mean? I'm certain they can't avoid any fixed installment payments they might still owe us but if there's a clause triggered (for example) when Everton play in the Champions League then that must end when he leaves Everton.

Agreed-not least because we borrowed from Santander in Oct 18 against the £25m Everton owed us that was payable in two stages-July 19 and July 20

As in, if Everton had come to us (for example) and said ‘we will include an odd-on that is £5m immediately payable when he gets to 11 international goals (he’s on 10 now) and to us that took the fee from £35m to £40m when we were considering it, does them selling him mean a percentage of that £5m still comes to us?

I’m fairly certain the answer is no because it was our risk to agree to that clause etc. But it seems a handy way for clubs to push the bid up for players they want but then sell the player to escape the liabilities of the deal. That’s all.

That thought did cross my mind too, however, Watford have always shown great resilience over Sarr and Sarr is not pushing for a move. I cannot see Watford even entertaining a bid, unless it's a very high offer, over £60m. I just don't see us doing a deal as time for us to get in a replacement would be minimal. In this particular window Watford hold all the cards as he still has 3 years left on his contract. It's a different story next season, and either we stay up and offer him a new deal, or the more likely outcome is that he goes for the fee we want next summer after having had a good season with us.

Best case scenario is Sarr has a storming season and keeps us up like Ighalo did and we sell him 60+ mill and use that money to seriously upgrade our squad .

Yes. 65 mil, then we can do 25 mil on one midfielder, 30 mil on a couple of defenders and the rest could be some cheap punts. If Pedro finds his prem feet, we won't need a replacement.

Perhaps part of the reason that JP is "committed to the club" is the fact that he can barely get in our side at present and hardly shone in the championship. I'm delighted he's not pushing for a move to the big 4.

You reckon this owner would ever spend £30m on 2 defenders? Come on now.

We will still be feeling the financial pinch of the pandemic in 12 months time - if we get £60m+ for Sarr, a large part of that will go towards filling that financial black hole.

Think he plays off of Calvert-Lewin doesn't he? With Iwobi/Gray the other side so far this season.

Pretty sure he played with DCL up top in a 4-4-2 last season, this season he's played on the left and behind DCL, so Sarr wouldn't seem like the most logical replacement, although with little time in the window, anything could happen

Few media outlets suggesting Everton would use any money they get for Richarlison on signing Maupay and McNeil.

As mentioned previously on this thread, if PSG make a bid and Neymar is in his ear, Richardson will have a strop if Everton block the move.

We all know what a sulking Richarlison looks like!

Unlikely Richarlison would leave with only 3 days of window left. Far too loyal to Everton and unlikely to want to dump them in it

True. I mean why would he want to play in a CL team, with one of the best players of all time and his mate and fellow countryman anyway.

Perhaps if Silva was the manager he would be tempted and down tools until he got his way though.....

The bit in bold covers it in my view.

I think I've read before about clubs buying out these clauses - that's a twist on the same topic but in essence, in everything they negotiate clubs have to work out if it'll pay off for them or not. Accept a lesser up front fee or take a punt on clauses that might (or obviously might not) pay out more in the future.

Scenes when we find out Gino negotiated an early payment of any potential money due from Richarlison clauses last summer, so we could afford to keep Troy and Gray.

He was rubbish towards the end of last season, but his form at the start of it was easily befitting of a 20+ goals striker. He just fell away a bit later on.
Don't know if it was just exhaustion making him poorer or that he didn't have a strike partner, but he was better pre-Munoz.

PSG will need a bigger pool if they have both Neymar and Rat Boy diving.
