disappointing but not the end of the world. now ross wilson has to show his mettle and find us a left back before the start of the new season.

if he has gone to charlton for money, then i have a lost a bit of respect for the lad.

Aaron Cresswell was another name being touted about, but he's better than Wiggins and I'm guessing he will go where the money is. Wiggins was at Watford this morning, so something must have gone ****ing wrong for him to opt with Charlton.

sounds like a bit of the tommy smith to reading saga if you ask me. probably simple fact of the matter is charlton offered him more dosh.

hmm i expect we probably offered around 3k too which is probably a fair valuation. i certainly wouldnt have offered any more for him.

its just one of those transfers that just didnt work out. its not the end of the world as the vast majority of the wobby board seem to be suggesting.

im sure we will have other targets, and if he really wanted to come he would have, so really not all that bothered.

We were very confident of him signing today, will try find out tomorrow what went wrong. The important thing is we don't get too down about this, there's other left backs and Bournemouth were quite confident they could find someone better, so let's hope we can too. Got a funny feeling a striker will sign tomorrow or Monday anyway, either that or a current one signing a new contract, maybe Marv? Wiggins sounds like a **** anyway, just annoying we have to start from scratch in our search now.

 

It's embarrasing. We've lost out to a club that is a league lower than us. The LB position is a key one to fill and we can't fill it! Frustrating and annoying.

 

Be suprised if we have to start from scratch, maybe they went for the cheaper option first, and might push the boat out for a better player on a season long loan now.

 

Usually I'd be annoyed if someone went somewhere else for monetary reasons.

But it's a 23 year old guy and when you're "only" on 150k a year then an extra grand a week is going to be fine. He'll be playing week in, week out at both clubs and for that money I wouldn't give it a second thought. I doubt the expectation or club prospects are much different either.

Unfortunately this is a guy who hasn't yet made any real money from football.

Time to move on, it's just a shame we couldn't begin preparing with out first choice team tomorrow and instead will end up getting a loan at the end of August.

 

May not be the only determining factor. I can't imagine it being a massive lure to be managed by someone completely unproven. I am behind Dyche but that could work against him in attempting to bring anyone in.

 

It is worrying that he has turned us down for a lower division club to be honest, especially when you take into account the links that he and his family have to Watford.

Will be interesting to hear from people on here with knowledge of the transfer as to why it has fallen through; although from where I'm standing it's pretty obvious what has happened.

Precisely. On the bright side I would prefer we didn't sign him if all he is concerned about is earning an extra couple of grand a week rather than aiming to progress him career.

 

If he's been put on £3k a week at Charlton there is absolutely no way that we couldn't afford him, merely that we didn't rate him enough to match that price.

£3k is a very average wage, even to us.
