    **UPDATE**

Watford last night agreed a fee believed to be in the region of 250k for Bournemouth left-back, Rhoys Wiggins.

The 23 year-old has been subject of a number of bids from Watford but Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell confirmed to local paper, The Bournemouth Echo that a fee had been agreed.

Welshman Wiggins will now travel to Watford to thrash out the terms of his contract before hopefully putting pen-to-paper.

After Watford's initial approach in March, Wiggins expressed his desire to leave Dean Court in search of Championship football:

'I was told early on that if ever a club from a higher league came in, Bournemouth wouldn`t stand in my way.

'It is a chance for me to further my career and I think Watford is the sort of club that ticks all the right boxes for me.' Wiggins told The Bournemouth Echo

Stay tuned to Vital Watford for all the latest on the Wiggins deal.

"Watford have agreed a fee to sign Rhoys Wiggins from Bournemouth, the Watford Observer understands.

The Hornets have been pursuing the left-back for several months and previously had two bids for the 23-year-old turned down, but their perseverance looks likely to be rewarded.

Wiggins is now set to discuss personal terms at Vicarage Road after lengthy negotiations resulted in a deal worth in the region of £250,000, the Bournemouth Daily Echo has claimed.

The former Norwich City player, who comes from Hillingdon, has made no secret of his wish to join the Hornets and handed in a transfer request in March, but this was rejected.

Wiggins would be Watford’s second signing of the summer following the capture of Craig Forsyth from Dundee last week."

A fee of 250k seems good bsiness when most people here was saying that 350k was a fine fee. Most likely we have negotiated some sell ons into the deal to the mutual benefit of both clubs. Now let's get in that striker.

Is the fee likely to rise with add ons? As Charlton's bids were higher than ours were they not?

    Good point.

The club seem to be very transparent in terms of fees and clauses under Bassini (so far), so I daresay we will find out once it's official.

I think when Buckley was sold that was the most descriptive comfirmation of a transfer I've seen.
    Similar with the Graham deal.

    What are you on about?

Does it matter how you say it, he has signed, which is the most important thing.

People were asking how you say it, so I responded.. Didn't realise that I'd get shot down for it..

Transparent - really? In a time when we are all whinging in football about the transparency of FIFA?

I am saying that the club have been very 'transparent' in their transfer dealings under LB because they have said how much the player has gone for and they have said how big a sell-on clause we hold and under what terms.

That is what I call transparency. Under the Russo's or Simpson and Cashton these details were never made clear.

Therefore I am suggesting that should there be any extra clauses we will find out once the club confirms the deal as having been completed.

Are we all on the same page now?

I agree, though I'd have liked to have known her much compensation we got for the services of MM from that Welsh lot. As far as I know, it was anything from £300,000 - £1,000,000, knowing it's probably a lot closer to the first one. I hate all the 'undisclosed' stuff. But all-in-all, I like the more transparent approach with our dealings.

Also, pleased to see we're addressing the left back problem, and hopefully bringing in another player who sounds like he wants to play for the club. Sounds like a promising young lad anyway. :drinking:

we haven't signed him yet have we? Thought we agreed a fee only which means Charlton, who are also tracking him, can table a rival bid

  24. tom1wat

True, but he said in March he wanted to step up. He can't do that with Charlton - I'd be disappointed if we lost him to them.

They can, but we've agreed a fee with Bournemouth - which is what matters - Charlton could as well, but it would still be down to Wiggins as to where he wants to ply his trade - The Championship or League 1 - A club that 'ticks all the right boxes for him', or Charlton.

He isn't a Watford player yet, but i'm pretty confident he will be very soon.

I'm sure Bournemouth would prefer him to come here as Charlton are a rival L1 club. It'd be a good move for all concerned.
