Rajovic - How Many Goals Will He Get This Season?

I thought VI said that he turned down other suggestions and options in favour of Rajovic? Not sure Manga can be blamed (unless the other suggestions were even worse!) for signing Raj when VI essentially chose him.

 

I think the story keeps changing on that front. Last Val said about it he seemed to be washing his hands of the whole thing and saying he only saw a video clip.

 

I'm only passing on what this chap said to me which of course could be a load of old tosh. I can believe about the laughing at his ability though as it is fairly laughable!

 

Can you fit Billy Jennings’ technique into this?

 

To be fair he actually came from the top tier in Sweden, but he had only played there for six months. 18 months ago - at the age of 22 - he was still knocking about in the third tier in Denmark before getting promoted with that team.

No wonder he looks like someone who won the lottery every time he’s on the pitch. Tall and physically strong pub footballer who is only useful in the six yard box - would be perfect in the National League, I suppose. Best kept for 10 minute cameos in the Championship.

 

He reminds me of Scott Fitzgerald, who was playing in a league way above his capability; he scored a few tap ins one season but once the goals stopped coming he was surplus to requirements.

 

I think we can all see the problems with him, however the service he has been getting has also been poor. He is a better finisherthan Bayo. Give him a bit of time and support. I would much rather have played Morris at left back and unvested Lewis's salary on a proven striker.

 

I mean let’s say it’s true, it would still be a ridiculous stance given the fact Giaretta/Duxbury/Pozzo spent £7m or so on Kalu and Okoye?

Manga was not involved in the signing of Rajovic (according to Adam Leventhal). Manga had already been sidelined and none of the signings in the summer transfer window were based on his recommendations. You may remember that it was Giaretta who introduced Rajovic (in the video) when he was signed.

 

Yes - but 2 players not even fit for purpose in championship with EPL funding verses one bargain bucket striker who while vastly limited at least gets the odd goal. It would be a farce. In any case, the story changes every week out of the club - 95% of things are lies in keeping with the complete lack of integrity in our corporate culture and leadership.

 

The stories change depending on who has been sacked that week, whoever was last out the door will have all the clubs ills and bad decisions pinned on them. Often applies to players too, so many ‘bad apples’ who were a bad influence in the dressing room have left the club, but you never hear about them while they’re still here.

Manga is the latest scapegoat for any of all bad signings.

 

For me, the weirdest thing about the Rajovic signing is how the club spun it to the fans and the media. The whole thing about the hunt for the perfect no. 9 and all. If they had just given Bayo the no. 9 shirt in the summer and said that we go with Bayo as our main striker, plus we have Healy and we're going to add a different type of powerful striker as another option, I think it would be fine. A £1m punt at an impact sub goal poacher from a lower level doesn't sound so bad.

My guess is that when they weren't able to sign any of the strikers they had on the radar (Cho, Kaba, Nicolson) it was to late to reverse the story and Rajovic was the only one they could get.

 

One tiny positive from today is that Rajovic looked trim and actually quite mobile. He'll definitely be a threat if we can get decent crosses into him. Trouble is he's rubbish at pretty much everything else and we can't cross.

 

It was a clip of a kitten scaring a puppy I believe. Not sure it helped.

Looking good for the 11-15 guessers at the moment. He just has the knack of being in the right place in the box. Give him chances in and around the 6 yard box and it’s all to easy for him.

 

Put balls in the box and he scores goals.

 

So is the question really "how many decent balls can we put into the box" then?

 

Base a team around him and we are league 1.

He'll have to do for now.

 

Two great finishes from 2 great crosses today.

 

Shortly before his first, Kone put in a decent but a touch too high ball in for Rajovic, had the cross been about a foot lower Rajovic would have had a very good headed chance. It looks like the players are trying to get the ball into the mixer, and although we all agree Rajovic is somewhat limited I thought he generally got more involved deeper today than he usually does.

 

And another one….they keep ticking along.

 

Somewhat to my own surprise, I’m getting more confident in my 11-15 prediction.

 

He’s such a bad footballer. Nothing comes off when he tries to play the ball or get involved in the build up for a move. As long as he keeps scoring though he’s hard to drop.

honestly I don’t think it really matters if he contributes nothing other than goals. it’s what we brought him in to do at the end of the day.

 

I’m almost as confident in his ability to score a header from within the six yard box as I used to be in Vydra scoring a one-on-one when put through on the half way line.

Not quite there though.

Guessed 6-10 based on pure chaos factor, but will be interesting to see if the goals dry up over the next few months given how we’re built to support him at the moment and about to face tougher sides.

 

7 goals so far. It's not beyond the realms of possibility he could hit 20!

I like him.

 

Already scored as many as Keinan Davis managed last season, and is only 3 off of Sarr, and 4 off of Pedro.

Think what you will about his general play (or lack of) but it can't be denied that he can score
