What, the men who have all been sacked from management jobs in the last 2 seasons or are about to be? Their judgement is not beyond reproach.
Brendan was the most handsome and Malky the most eloquent. Big what? They all lost football matches because they ****ed up too often.
I'd rather have a Lloyd Doyley ( and three other defenders )who is taught how to control, pass and defend and then carry it out!
As opposed to when he played on the right and would lose the ball because he can't cross on his right foot? He may be a likeable guy who cares for the club more than the others etc, but the fact is him and marriappa are an absolute liability in defence. Its costing us points week in week out (fair enough along with the attacks inability to put the ball in the net etc). Needs to be addressed in the summer. How we could do with Paul Robinson down the left and Gibbs on the right now.
I think your being alittle unfair on Doyley. Besides the fact that both players are being played out of position, to blame both of them alone for the shortcomings in defence is incorrect. Just watch the highlight of the palace game on bbc football (or any of our recent games for that matter) and theres a whole catalogue of errors from a host of different watford players that lead to all 3 goals. Theres no real organisation or communication at the back. The 1st palace goal is a prime example. A nothing challenge by marriappa, followed by a poor clearance/pass from lansbury that went straight to an unmarked palace player on the edge of the box and instead of following the player he was marking demerit is ball watching and leaves stern john unmarked to head home. Loach could have come for the cross maybe but didnt. Im not saying Doyley is blame free, because he isnt, but Malkay & Dyche really need to work on our back 4.
Toiletdoyley is one of the worst defenders I ave seen in nearly 40 years of watching the Orns. he can't even kick a football correctly, 85% of the time he slices it. As for the list you coped from Google Doyley isn't fit to lace the boots of the likes of Stirk, Henderson, Pritchett, Harrison etc etc
The common denominator is Lloyd's total lack of understanding of his job as a fullback - irrespective of if he's on the left, or the right ..... how this man continues to earn great money with his woeful lack of ability continues to baffle me.
I'm not saying he's the best full back we've ever had, but there's a reason he's our longest serving player at the moment. He's reliable, hard working, strong on the ground and in the air and occasionally gets us out of trouble! And seriously, did you not see Jermaine Darlington play for us? :forehead:
His a poor quality player. He can't pass or retain possestion. He slows down our attacks and gets found out positionally. How many have we conceded at the back post ? its not bad luck its because he has been sussed out and gets sucked in time after time after time.
To be honest, he hasn't been sussed out, there was nothing to suss out. If he wasn't such a fan favourite he'd be out.
I meant the last few games he's played, Doofus. As should have been clear, I think Hodson will prove to be a very good full-back, and possibly one of our best-ever if he stays, but the jury's out as he hasn't played many games. After all, Mariappa looked promising when he started. Oh, and Lloyd is also better than some people I forgot - Charlie Palmer, Solomon, Perpetuini and of course the man who has gifted the opposition late goals in our last two matches, Mariappa.
Sorry, I didn't need Google. I go to the matches and pay attention, rather than leaving early and posting to boast about it.
Sounds like most of our team at times TBH hence relying on the loan stars. No-body in defence can say they've had a solid consistent season.
I hate to say it and have probably said it before but hes pants. Like I said on the shoutbox, Dooley going off and Demerit coming on was like your wife going away and your mother in law coming to stay.
Anyone else noticed that he's carrying a bit, well a lot, of extra timber at the moment? Think somebody was a bit lazy during pre-season...
Aye I love the guy no matter what he looks like, just an observation. I can genuinely feel a second goal coming along soon.
I am the biggest doyley hater ever but even i can't moan at his performance saturday, He was on fire. Just saying :/
Happy Doyley Day 2 years ago today. Happy Doyley Day everybody!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP_r_p7lls4 3CR commentary with vid. http://www.wfc.net/files/lloyd/
I'm still gutted I wasn't there that night. I've now got more chance of seeing the Loch Ness monster than Lloyd ever score again.
Never fails to make me smile. Amazing. So gutted I wasn't there. Danced around my room in Liverpool in my Watford shirt that evening haha.
Every time I see that footage along with heating Jon Marks's commentary of it, I always end up sitting here looking slightly demented with the stupid grin plastered on my face. I am so, so pleased I was there that night.
In 40 years time some of you will have your Grandkids at a game " Grandad tell us the story again about Lloyd Doyley scoring "
Winners1980, remind me, where were you when this great event in our illustrious history was in the making???
