But he can defend which is a good quality in a... well defender! Indeed. Some players have skill as well as work rate. And why can't anyone on here seem to spell Allan Nielsen's name right? I put that down to complacency on LDs part. If he doesn't have competition for his place in the side, his form tails off. Also, he doesn't handle compliments well. When he was called "Lloydinho" and "The Provider" by AB and "the best defender" by BR he then proceeded to play like shyte and losing his place. Lloyd is someone who needs competition and being continuously pushed for improvement. As Robo-boy says: I love Lloyd's loyalty but I also respect the way he acts when he loses his place. He doesn't whine about it, doesn't complain in the media. He just knuckles down, waits for another chance and when it comes he grabs it more often than not. To me, Lloyd is a Watford legend already...
And gets paid quite handsomely for it.........a wage he would never pick up anywhere else, irrespective of his profession.
i personally think the new stand if it ever gets built, should be called the 'lloydinho terrace.' i like lloyd he is a good defender and over the last 18 months his on-ball ability has improved dramatically. i just hope im there on the day that he finally scores a goal.
I don't know how Lloyd's wages compare to the rest of the side but I doubt he's one of the more expensive players. And big wages doesn't mean application from players is guaranteed. Look at lump for one (but the examples are numerous).
If they call the stand anything remotely similar to "the Lloydinho Terrace" then I am packing up my blanket and Thermos and supporting a new team. I'd rather they called it the New Anusol Plus (with aloe vera) Family Stand.
He is very talented. His job is to defend which he does very well. Not many opposition players get the better of Lloyd. When he is clearing the ball I don't care wether he's kicked the ball sraight or not so long as he has cleared our lines. Leave the passing and shooting up to our midfield and attackers who are very good at their job as well.
No joke intended. Watching 'highlights' of this season's games he appears to be worse than ever. He appears to excel in falling over, being incapable of a 10 yard pass, and going AWOL when he should be marking his man (the recent Palace game, yet another example of his glaring lack of defending ability). An ex-pro mused to me "how on earth did this guy get a professional contract?" a couple of years back ..... and he doesn't seem to have got any better with age. I was just wondering what the people who actually go to games (unlike you) thought?
he is a right footed player on the left who can't go forward and on the ball the other teams sit of him because they know we will make a mistake. play harley!
Of course he isn't. He's better than Stirk, Ray Henderson, Pritchett, Harrison, Falconer, Dublin, Lavin, Morrow, David Barnes, Ludden, Blondeau, Lyttle, Helguson (as Vialli's wing-back), Kelly, Mayo, Darlington, Ardley, Jack Smith, Parkes, Harley and possibly even Travner and Sietes. Not better than Rice, Bardsley, Rostron, Jackett, Gibbs, Sinnott, Drysdale, Chivers, Robinson, Bazeley, Iroha, Chambers and possibly Hodson. To be honest, he's better than every other full-back we've got at the moment, if we take Hodson's more recent form rather than his early form. Looks to me like Lloyd is well into the top half of Watford backs that I've seen.
Must have taken you ages to think of that lot. I agree with your list in the main though but does it just demonstrate we have had some terrible full backs down the years.
Should change the name on the shirt to Doynkey. At least in two-three years time we should have technically able players in all positions on the pitch assuming we do not go into meltdown.
Doyley is nowhere near the worst player on that pitch right now. OK, I admit he has his comedy moments, but if the rest of the team showed the same level of passion, commitment and LOYALTY, then we wouldn't be in the dire straights we are now. I've been a Lloyd knocker before, but I've changed my views this season. I'd rather have 11 Lloyds than some of the moneygrabbing twunts that have passed throught the Vic in recent years.
How can you judge Hodsons recent form hes only played one game in 9, and dont forget Hodsons 18 Doleys 26 ish he should be in his prime. I used to coach Hodson as a kid he was a forward and a bloody good one, give him time he will learn his trade. Doley is one of the best one on one defenders in the Championship but thats where it ends hes not very good after hes won the ball.
Loyalty? Same virtue people most pick up on in Richard Lee. It would help if they'd been asked to demonstrate it at any point - say by actually having another club at a similar level want them - before it's shouted from the rooftops. Lloyd has played how many first team games for the club now? 250? I think it's a pretty damning indictment of him that the only things his biggest fans can draw on as his plus points are psychological attributes. If the rest of the team showed the same level of ineptitude, headless chicken-like ability and inability to do anything on the ball we'd have been relegated before xmas!
Correct, but you forgot he can`t go back either. He is third division standard - so could be very useful, as long as we are not paying him money.
but lloyd does give 100% when ucking it up and we love him for it. The rest of the "over paid shower" as they are called only give 50% or less when ucking up, they do not deserve to be loved. Uck it up for the shirt, whole heartedly or uck of out of wfc. we don't need half hearted crap we want wholemeal 100% crap and cheap 100% crap at that. preston 1 wfc 4 watford 5 wba 0
I do get fed up with Doyley being on the left. So many times he runs down the wing and loses the ball because he cross on his left foot. I think Cleverley sometimes does not pass to him as he knows doyley will just lose it. Doyley needs changing to the right and marriappa needs to go in the centre.
Worst player ever! How he and Dominic Blizzard ever get spotted as youngsters is beyond me. Has anyone ever seen doyley make a proper sliding challenge? (other then the one where he fell over against palace and ended up somehow making a two footed challenge)
For 4 managers I think? If he was as bad as people have said on this thread then what does that say about the men who see him in training and in matches who keep picking him week after week? He's much better this season than previous seasons, by a country mile.
