If we're honest, it's only the fans who have doubted him. It seems to me that every coach has loved him from day one.

Sordell did nothing wrong in my book (accept being a little bit of a prima donna at times) other than that he was a good player for us; so I will definitely not be booing him, polite applause is the order of the day IMO :sign15:

Not a bad idea, but I just wanted one to frame - I'd preferably get his signature on it too so looks like I'm going to have to wait for the open day before I frame it

He shops in Tesco Hatfield a lot if you have a lot of spare time... and are prepared to risk going to Hatfield...

Alternatively take up the club on one of their "Sponsorship" packages they frequently advertise at the bargain price of £1500 + VAT and Lloyd will personally sign your pants that they have just pulled down.

If my Maths are right then Doyley only has 27 more games to match Luther's 415 apperances.

Luther's 415 are just his league appearances. Doyley is about 60 short of that yet.

Id like him beat Luther's record of appearances for Watford, his contract is up in the summer but I reckon Sannino will extend as he seems to play Doyley fairly regularly and has talked about the importance of home grown players like Doyley, Murray and O'Nien.

Doyley is on 426 apps and Luther got 503 in all competitions, I reckon Lloyd might not quite get to 503 depending if we go up in the next few years, he should beat Luther's league apps record though as he is only 34 behind.

I think we won't go up for another two years. This Season is effectively done, barring a miracle run, but next season will probably be a case of so near yet so far. I think the 3rd year will be the one. Assuming Doyley plays a majority of these games, he'll have a good chance of beating Luther's record.

I hope he doesn't as Luther was a truly great player and Lloyd isn't.
Can I dislike my own post before everybody else does

Why do people always assume us getting promoted means the end of Doyley? He's a very good defender and would pick up 15 apps a season if we went up (until age catches up). Just look at the likes of Emerson Boyce.

I don't think he'll make the all-appearances record myself. I doubt he'll be here as a player beyond the end of next season (he's not getting any younger) and bearing in mind his style isn't technical he'll decline as his physical attributes do. It's possibly my imagination, but in the games I've seen this year he doesn't seem quite as fast as the Lloyd of previous seasons.

I can definitely see him breaking the league record, though.

End of the last 6 seasons I assumed it is the end of Doyley, each time we get a new manager I assume the end of Doyley, each time we sign another defender I assume the end of Doyley, how nice it is to be wrong !

I see what your saying but I cant remember watching Luther for Watford although I was at games I was too young to remember him being about 7/8 during his final years with us in the mid to late eighties.
Because I have seen Doyley from the start of his career I have a big love for him, he could have left a few times including last summer when he had other offers but has chosen to stick with us and always gives his all.

We have all seen enough wnkers both from our youth team and bought for stupid money and on stupid wages that didnt give a fk about Watford so its nice to see someone who obviously cares for the club.

I can see the value in extending his contract, he's hugely experienced at this level and fairly versatile 5. By all accounts he's a positive influence in the changing rooms too. Keep him as a squad player, but cant see him getting anywhere near Luthers record.

I like Doyley and he has shown nothing but commitment for his club despite what people thinks of his ability.

I don't think there will be anyone that comes near to the amount of games he has played for a long time. If he leaves there is definitely part of Watford FC that goes with him.

I am amazed that he hasn't been offered an extension to his contract.

It would just be wrong seeing him play for another Championship side next season particularly if it was Hollowheads mob.

We should defo extend his contract to act as cover and hit home grown quotas etc.. but lets be honest... If he's the corner stone of the team for another 2 years then we aint going up..... Heart, guts, everything you could ask for other than...he aint good enough :(

Id like the club to give him a two and half year deal to take him through this season and the two after.

Cant agree with you Rugbyballs that he aint good enough, he is better than most Championship defenders in my opinion and at man marking (smaller attackers) is probably our best defender, he is also very good at one on ones when he is the last defender.

Did Luther ever score a goal like this with Baha men playing in the background? He's achieved nothing.

    Flying header was better.

On average, he's scoring once every 213 games. Not bad.

I love the fact that when he scores, he doesn't really know what to do, just looks a bit more confused and runs round with his arms up to no-one in particular, he makes scoring look uncool, it's quite endearing tbh.
