Even if we did put in an offer for Afobe, it doesn't seem that surprising to me that someone would choose the Champions League and the title winners in Belgium over us in the Championship. Pleased we aren't signing him though, we really should be aiming higher.
Leventhal could just be covering his backside given that he had stated previously we were interested in him. Also, him being a supposed "target" is not the same thing as us having made him an actual contract offer.

Spend yet another year in the championship or go to a team that will be playing champions league football next season (and most likely for more money)? Its a no brainer really, especially for a journeyman player who will be 30 in February and coming towards the end of his carrier. If missing out on Afobe means we get someone like Piroe instead then I would say its worked out ok
So do you want to see a video of Afobe actually saying he chose someone else? What would it take for you to accept he chose someone else but we made an offer? Also wasn’t a ‘supposed’ target. Edwards was asked about him directly and admitted he wanted him. (Because we did)
Oh Christ. Seriously steer clear - could understand him wanting to go for CL football. But we will be getting off on the wrong foot if we are binning off exciting players because they ‘can’t be guaranteed 1st team football’ but accepting bang average players who don’t have us as first choice. Avoid.
