Academy And Under-23s

17 year old defender Bogdan Marian has joined Tring Athletic (Tier 9) on loan. No news of the length of deal that I can find.

Marian was formerly a keeper but now plays in defence, full-back I think.

He has started both 1st team games played this season, a 2-1 league win over Ardley United and a 1-3 loss against Roman Glass St George in a FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie. So that's him cup-tied then. Bugger.

 

Imagine if he turns out to be amazing, could sack off having a sub keeper.

I remember Warnock did that with Sheff Utd, used to rate Michael Tonge as a decent keeper so didn't bother with a recognised backup

 

Mustn't have played that game against Arsenal where Jagielka went in goal then!

 

I believe our academy team play up a level as well - so most are 17/18 years old rather than being 20/21 years old like a lot of the academy teams

 

I always thought it was Tonge he used as the backup. Probably wrong

 

Ethan Goulding is also on loan at Tring and seems to have joined at the same time as Bogdan Marian.

Goulding is a midfielder born in Watford, and like Marian is a 17 year old 2nd year scholar.

Both played in the first two games for Athletic and have started in todays fixture away at Dunstable.

A debut tonight for Adrian Blake. Didn't see much of the ball but when he did he was confident, took people on and tried to make things happen, which is more than his experienced teammates did.

 

I thought he looked really good. He can be proud of his cameo tonight.

Toure has had his loan at SV Horn terminated. Agreeing to a 2 year loan deal was so stupid to begin with.
