Relegated for the second time in three seasons and not a peep from the owner or Chairman. Embarrassing.

    Ill write it for you:

The world hasnt stopped turning - even though at times this season it felt like that.
Ever club wants to play at the highest levels blah blah

We built a new stand etc
    NHS Neighbours

There will be lessons learnt and changes made.
From today we are going both forward and again, but also literally backward and down
BUT, and I cannot stress this enough, we are not going to yesteryear.

    You missed part .....

On reflection the season was tough, the team was more than capable of hitting the target of 17th this season, and upon considered reflection we were close to achieving our goal, just 2 positions away. We concluded our mini league with a mid table finish, not to shabby ..... however when we were cut adrift and relegated we did come top of the 2 team mini mini, teeny weeny, league between us and Norwich ...so some more positives from the season. The summer will see evolution not revolution as the squad just needs a few tweaks as we set upon our journey to be "best of the rest"

So nearly a full week on from the season ending and we still haven’t heard a peep from them…

    Stay classy.

There has been a secret meeting with special fans though where I'm sure all concerns were put to rest. So all is good.

Either that or Gino is in the midst of getting rid of Dux and has another CEO lined up. Doubt it though. They are either laughing at the club at our expense or seriously getting down to hard graft to making sure next season isn't a total disaster. Pretty obvious which one of those two things it will be.

Appears Andrew French whose been like a breathe of fresh air so far has a interview with duxbury. Be interesting to see if it’s fluff or substance

I’m sure/have seen testimony here from people who’s word I respect/trust that he is a good bloke and journalist, but still, given who we’re talking about and the similar reverse testimony I’ve heard about the other participant, I won’t be holding my breath that any substance has been allowed.

Presumably, it’s Duxbury’s weasel way of acknowledging the footballing multi car pile up with severe casualties that he just presided over for a cool mil.

Maybe it'll be third time lucky in 2023 if Duxbury fails to deliver (again) this season?

I would endorse that view. He is well versed in what made the club special in previous years, and he is a nice bloke as well.

He's really quite an irritating character, isn't he?

'When I put Rob Edwards forward to the board...' is such a transparent attempt to get some of the goodwill about the new coach sent his way.

'Last time we went down... when the fixtures came out I looked at them and thought ‘what are Watford doing playing some of these teams'?' just makes him sound like an arrogant bell end.

At last we hear from him but I'm sorry, this does nothing to win me over. More arrogant, narcissistic soundbites from Duxbury.

How in the world could anyone look at the squad at the start of the season and think there's no way to improve it? He also mentions that Edwards is the man to give us sustained Premier League football, so we all know what will happen in December when we're sitting in 8th position. Nothing about that segment of the interview makes me think anything has changed at all.

That last comment was a bit disrespectful to the Championship. We can’t really get above our station like that, however, it’s exactly how I felt at the time also. I felt as a club, we had progressed beyond the Championship, so the feeling was entirely justified even if it doesn’t read well in print.

The interview is a good one from Andrew French, and topics covered are exactly what I want to hear about.

But I will have to ask, if Edwards is so pivotal towards our new identity, then why only a 2-year deal?

It did make me laugh when SD said people don’t want to hear repeatedly from the chairman or owner. One interview from Gino in a decade. Yes, he just doesn’t stop talking does he?

Overall what is being said is very good, but I still don’t really trust their judgement. 10 years and they’ve only just discovered culture and continuity have some merit! It seems they are very smart in some areas but idiots in others. They don’t seem to have a grasp of common sense. This is what I find so frustrating with Gino and SD.

Edwards sounds like the adult in the room - which isn’t good with our hierarchy’s ego.

That said, Duxbury has said a lot of stuff here that means he, in particular, can have no hiding place if things go (further) wrong down the line.

I wonder if Ryan Gray was an issue with the club? Andrew French seems to have got further in with the club than Gray ever did, in just the space of a few weeks?

Does that mean the days of hiring and firing coaches to the extent we became the butt of jokes are now over?

What happened last season was almost an epiphany. We had hidden behind relative success, but it wasn’t significant success. What we needed was continuity behind a coach that we believe in and the supporters believe in. We also wanted somebody who could grow with us."

So the seasons with QSF2, Pearson and Mullins, followed by Ivic and Munoz were OK then?

I speak with Andrew regularly. Worked at the club before and was close to GT. Has some really good connections still and he knows what he’s doing in how to get things. Problem Ryan Gray had is I think the club didn’t respect a young journalist, as bad as that sounds

I think also that there was a succession of Wobby reporters who understandably viewed it as a stepping stone to greener pastures. For Andrew it seems to be something he is incredibly passionate about and he has decided to spend a few weeks/months pouring himself into covering Watford.

He’s been there two weeks and already by far the most reliable person I’ve spoken to. Everything he’s said to me has been bang on. Even the 10% earlier he came back to me after following it up again. Next thing you know that El Bobble (what a weird name) is tweeting it more or less word for word

Part 2 of the interview has now dropped. Our debt is only £50m to macquarie bank and the aim is to pay that off in two years. The other debt is owner debt and SD doesn’t even count that as it will be NEVER called in by the owner. It will only be paid back as part of a sale of the club.

I was feeling mildly positive about Edwards before reading that.

If it now turns out that he really was Duxbury's suggestion then he's going to end up being absolute crap isn't he?!

Notice that he doesn't mention the defence when going through that "list of players".

He also claims that King must have obviously been good because Utd had a bid rejected for him - ignoring that it was 18 months prior and while Utd were desperate for a stop-gap reserve striker, with them subsequently signing an over-the-hill Ighalo for the task instead (and that King had also been rubbish since then).

Plus he somehow imagined that Louza and Sissoko would even be a good midfield "on paper".

10% of fee, not 10% of profit right? Big difference as if Everton sell for say £55m that’s £1.5m versus £5.5m.

Also, and this seems like the kind of thing you’d know, are sell on fees paid over the term of the contract like most transfer fees or paid up front? I’d imagine they’d mirror the payment terms to the selling club but that’s just an assumption.

It’s paid straight away but the fee is 10% rather than profit like you say
