I think he has performed dreadfully over the past couple of years and is lucky to be in a job still but the hysteria and anger from some of our fans about ANYTHING that gets said is a bit odd to me. Both of those points can be valid, they aren't exclusive of eachother.

Good for you if you want to believe what he’s saying, but you can hardly blame some people for not, fool me once etc. it’s hardly hysteria, it’s just common sense to not trust someone who has repeatedly lied and gaslit the fan base season after season. That applies in every walk of life, not just regarding our CEO.

Late last week, I sat down with Watford chairman and CEO Scott Duxbury for a no holds-barred interview.

We met for more than two hours at the club’s training ground, and he answered every question I asked and talked about every topic I raised. There was no refusing to comment, no clock watching and no attempting to steer the conversation in a different direction.

Over the coming days, starting this afternoon, you’ll be able to read that exclusive interview which we’ve broken into a series of pieces that make it far easier to consume and digest.

Every word (and there’s more than 5,000 of them!) will be published and, as a fan as well as a journalist, I have hopefully touched upon the areas supporters would have asked about themselves. The interview covers such as:

    • Last season
    • The club’s financial situation
    • Next season
    • Rob Edwards
    • Continually changing coaches
    • Player commitment
    • How the fans reacted to relegation
    • Players and their use of social media
    • The new manager and his role in player recruitment
    • The use of agents
    • How do transfers/loans with Udinese really work
    • Communicating with supporters
    • Stadium development v new stadium

It’s an interview that the chairman said yes to immediately when I asked, and one that I hope will give fans everywhere the chance to fill in the communication blanks that I referred to recently.

There is so much to read – and here’s an excerpt of what Duxbury said that hopefully sets the tone: “Gino Pozzo just wants the club to be successful and playing sustained Premier League football. That’s always been his only ambition for Watford. I am on exactly the same page.

“However, he accepts that the way we try and work to deliver that had to change. We know that we could not carry on as we were. Watford Football Club needed its culture back.

“In Rob Edwards, we have appointed a manager we all totally believe in, and a manager who will lead and drive that change.

“We will be supporting Rob Edwards come hell or high water. We believe that he will deliver what we all want: a sustained and successful football club we all can be proud of.”

    He’s spoken about Mogi…

Apparently he’s brought quality players to us - they name Sarr, Dennis and Sissoko. And it makes the club lots of money. (Yet to be realised on any of the names listed) - completely ignores the absolute duds we overpay for.

He apparently isn’t exclusive to the club.

Says the reasoning for it lies with Gino - who we won’t hear from obviously.

And that any questions of Mogi’s dodgy dealings are nothing to do with him (Duxbury) and he doesn’t get involved in transfers so doesn’t ask questions.

I have to say, this transparency and communication from Duxbury is really refreshing.

There’s absolutely NOTHING to worry about, but if there is, it’s DEFINITELY not his fault.

That can’t be right, most of the twitter lot wouldn’t criticise Gino for our awful transfer business because it was supposedly down to Duxbury. Yet seemingly the only thing Duxbury is responsible for is bringing Edwards in? How strange.

The only player that Uncle Mogi has brought to us that is likely to make a decent profit is Dennis. Sarr screwed his value last season with his 'I won AFCON and can no longer be ****ed to play for a ****-pot club like Watford' anymore attitude.
Sissoko is long past his best and will be sold for 50 Euros and a couple of packets of skittles to whatever French club wants him.

I would have like for Duxbury to have been pushed on the other players signed through Bayat such as Kalu.

What is becoming clearer are roles and responsibilities, which weren't obvious or clarified in the past. It looks like SD runs the entire thing apart from player trading. So the hiring and firing of staff, outside of the playing staff, are solely his responsibility.

I'd be interested in who sets the budget though. Going by the first interview with SD no longer concerned about the finances, that appears to mean he controls where the money is spent. If Gino wants to pump in some extra cash via an investor/owner loan, then so be it, but it looks as though everything is controlled by SD and he is the man who sets the budget for club running costs and what is left over for player purchases. Although I expect there is a collaborative sit down meeting during the close season just to thrash out what needs to be done, then it's down to SD to control the spend from there on.

I've long been an advocate of employing a director of football. But this may well evolve in time. I do believe we need a more experienced football man at the top. Someone who knows English football and has a grasp of Watford values. I've thought Kenny Jackett would be a good fit, and the club even posted some quotes on the official site yesterday with him talking about Edwards. So maybe something like that is happening in the background? He would be a good fit with Edwards too.

Utterly pathetic. It would have been better if he'd just said that he's not going to talk about it, rather than that.

So he sat with him in the directors' box but didn't converse with him? **** off.

They did. It's an urgent one at the moment, he can't get out of the lift to the players lounge, something about "weight limit exceeded" and the lift is stuck mid-floor.

Weren't we the 7th highest paid out to agents last season? Didn't really get us anywhere with these 'quality' players apart from lining Mogi's pockets. I'd be interested to know which players are included?

Jury's still out on whether this arrangement has been a success but objectively i'd say not as we were ultimately relegated.

Given that Bayat, who has been described as our de facto director of football by some, is facing a trial next year where our club’s name is bound to come up a lot surely it would be a good idea for our CEO to have some knowledge of his ‘personal situation’?

And quite rightly so. I fear he is just a yes man for Gino and is happy to pick up his wages and whatever "bonuses" he gets. Actions speak louder than words. If they do back Edwards and bring in the talent he needs and they dont all come via Bayat or some other dodgy source then happy days but I think everyone on this forum knows what will happen.

A couple of years ago Duxbury was heavily involved in transfers. So now we've just left it to Giaretta and Gino or is Duxbury lying? If he's not then we should be looking for a better sporting director because Giaretta has failed miserably.

Why? Not that I disagree with the overall point that Bayat’s background should be of interest to Duxbury.

"Every decision will be Rob’s and we believe in him,” Duxbury stressed. “His team, his formation, his choice of players. We are confident Rob can deliver us a sustainable and successful football club."

Makes you wonder how much the hierarchy really have been in control these past few years. Does "his choice of players" refer to transfers or matchday squads!?!?

Christ, those comments about Bayat are beyond pathetic. Distancing himself from the situation and what's that comment re: other agents personal circumstances all about? Sounds like he's suggesting that all agents could be facing criminal trials for fraud as a justification for continuing to deal with Bayat.

Anyone giving Duxbury the benefit of any doubt needs to give their head a wobble.
