    Merry Christmas to all especially my brother Laurence who is in Addenbrookes awaiting surgery on a fractured hip and a new tumour close to where he had bowel cancer ten years ago.
    My poor sister in law cannot even send a card and yesterday they lost his tablet and spectacles.
    Not a good year for many.

    Thoughts with your family and situation IBB, it sounds awful right now, here's hoping 2021 brings some light. We're hoping my Wife gets the green light and can come home from UCLH tomorrow, it will make our Christmas.

A horrible year for so many reasons (to top it off we have been flooded today but thankfully a days worth of mopping, sandbags and shovelling has saved things - neighbours not so lucky)...but we can only look forward and not backwards.

    I wish you and all of your families, friends and loved ones the best for not only Christmas but every day going forward. We all deserve it after this year!

    Thank you all and better news last night.
    The oncologist is very hopeful and is prescribing a weekly dose of radiotherapy which can be administered at the Norwich and Norfolk and not Addenbrookes.
    He also believes the hip may not need surgery as it may slot back when the tumour is removed.

    I wanted to bring this back up to the top.

    A colleague at work, whom I barely know, confided in me today that her 20-year-old son had blurted out how much he was struggling with feeling so isolated. He lives at home, but has just started at Uni, and feels totally lost not being able to interact personally with anyone, either at Uni or amongst his long-term friends.

    She was shell-shocked. She's done the right thing and asked him to contact the Uni Counselling Service. I'm going to keep tabs on her, for her sake and her son's, because I'm sure many of us on here who are parents know how these bolts from the blue leave us feeling scared, helpless and hopeless.

    I also had a video chat with my sibs tonight. Another bolt. One of my sisters, a single parent, said that she'd phoned a crisis line two weeks ago because she was at such a low point. I'm going to 1-2-1 phone her tomorrow.

    So...

    Amidst all of this turmoil...

    If you're feeling you're coping ok-ish with it all, check in with those you know who you think might not be. Make the call. Send the text.

    If you're struggling, with a big or a little 's', tell someone. Please!!!

    Many Unis are shockingly bad at this. I just hope for his sake he's not at Bristol, particularly bad according to my eldest.
