Not in Kante's league as a player I'd say but certainly humble.

I actually find his ‘humbleness’ a bit fake. He’s been involved in a number of incidents of his own making and does that wild eyed ‘Who? Me?’ thing every time. Just a cheerier version of Zaha for me.

Get Hughes on loan - with an option to buy if we stay up. No need for one of our suicidal relegation clauses then....

I think a large element of people raving about his performance is because he left us and we lost heavily.

I don't see anywhere saying he's motm. I mean he did alright. Nothing spectacular. Lost possession once or twice as I remember. A 6.5/10 performance that looked better than it was because it was as part of a winning team. Same old studied and deliberate short passes here and there. Mostly sideways and backwards. Zero goal threat that I recall.

I a) wouldn't have him back at the same price as sold if offered and b) think Louza has way more vision and passing ability.

No one in our side got close to matching his intensity and controlled aggression though. That doesn't win you match after match at this level but it's more than our duds can offer.

Give me Hughes offering 6.5/7 out of 10 every week over Louza giving us 4/10 with an occasional 8/10 chucked in from time to time.

Don’t even get me started on Kucka and Kayembe.

I thought Louza was our man of the match last night, but that's saying very little. He was one of the very few I would exonerate from a performance that stank from the moment Gallagher scored.

Gutted he had such a good game especially in the second half. Bet he enjoyed ramming it down Ginos throat, no carry on pics please.

I mean, as UEA has said, there are a lot of things he offers that aren't categorised in what you say that are invaluable to a team that is performing well, things that we utterly lack, and I'm not really sure how 'studied and deliberate short passes' can be seen as a bad thing; particularly when we have an absolute inability to keep any control of either the ball or the midfield from game-to-game.

Judging him, or indeed any central midfielder by their goal threat also seems pretty churlish and redundant when that's not their role in the team, and what he did do played a role in helping his team score four goals against us last night.

I note the perceived intensity and controlled aggression of Wednesday did not see him get a start against Burnley. Nor did he even get to play at all as an unused substitute against a hard working aggressive opposition.

Unused substitute the match before they played us. Suggests he was just used as the manager thought he would want to put in a performance against his old club, (Palace scored two goals after he was subbed - so he was not instrumental in a thrashing).

But after his performance on Wednesday, his manager saw nothing in him to change his opinion that he should be starting.

Eleven appearances, mostly from the bench, for a team with one more win than us.

    So a squad player then.

Sounds like Vieira made a few changes with their FA Cup tie in mind but yes is part of a midfield who regularly switch from starting to beign a sub.

Was honestly surprised by the praise he got on Wednesday. Looked like a standard Will Hughes 6/10 performance to me. Neat and tidy, couple of decent tackles, with most of his passes being safe: backwards and sidewards. He's an average PL midfielder, his career says as much, and it's very unlikely he'll ever be more than that.

Would he be a better option than Kucka? Yes. Would I swap him for Louza? Absolutely not.

Sissoko, Louza and Hughes are three decent Prem options, not sure they'd all fit together, but it would have been better to try that than start with Kucka and Cleverley so often. I don't think I was ever 'happy' with Hughes leaving, but at least at the time, with the lack of spending in the summer, I at least thought it was necessary as we were skint, but we went and spent a fair bit in January, including about £8m on Kayembe and Kalu, two players who are unlikely ever to have the same impact as Hughes

Since then he's not started any of Palace's last 4 league games and only got 6 minutes off the bench after they were already 2-0 up vs Wolves. He's lost his place to Jeffrey Schlupp.

He’d be our best player. He was when we got relegated, and we’ve significantly regressed since then.

That he can’t get into a Palace side that thrashed Arsenal and drew with Man City is irrelevant.

By all accounts Will Hughes not that enamoured about his former club. Think the way he left has left a bad taste.

Can’t blame him at all. He was clearly all in and ready to stay here for years to come (and likely captain material) and instead our dullard owner and his sidekick treated him like a chump.

I'd imagine he's one of the players that the Wobby said are glad they left. It's an absolute sh!tshow behind the scenes.

Outside of Deeney, I'd be amazed if any player who has left us in the past 3 seasons regrets it.

Whether he's right or not, I still hope he gets a career ending injury in the near future.

It's one thing for Watford fans to rail against the club, but an albino outsider? Nope, not having that.

These are dark times, but you don't side with cuunts who hate our club for crying out loud.

. We should have gone out of our way to keep Hughes who was a class act instead of bringing in a new midfield which probably end us costing us more. That said most on this forum we’re quite happy for him to go at the time.

I would say not keeping Hughes was Pozzo/Duxbury's single worst decision since sacking Gracia four games into the 19/20 season.

I think the assumption was that a midfield that got relegated and then had its two best components sold off in Doucore and Capoue, would get strengthened back to at least the level it was when it got relegated first time around. I think anyone happy to see Hughes go wasn’t expecting Kucka and Tufan to be the clubs attempt at that.

We sold Hughes down the river for what? Sossoko... who has been, average at best? Another player reaching the end of his career that uses Watford as a retirement stepping stone.
Whether he wants to take a dig at Watford is up to him, and to be honest I think a lot of fans' didn't want him to leave. He's still a good player, not world class but can certainly hold his own in the PL .

I wouldn't see Sissoko as the replacement for Hughes. Hughes had a great spell in the second half of the promotion season operating in a 'quarter-back' role, whereas Sissoko is a dynamic ground-covering player whose time at the top level is nearing its end. Louza was more the Hughes replacement, but the time he took to get up to speed left Watford deep in relegation trouble before he became an asset and even then he was missing from the team due to AFCON.

I was told in no uncertain terms that Kucka was miles above Hughes level. Admittedly that was from Tempesta who calls everything wrong without fail, but several people did have similar views.
