I agree it would be totally ridiculous, but then it's the Pozzo's. Since when do things make sense with them? They are so spend thrift, yet don't mind flushing good money down the pan on Kalu, Okoye, Bayo, Bayat agent fees, Danny Rose contract, Andre Gray etc, etc. So it wouldn't surprise me if there was a sell-on involved. One for Andrew French to ask about.

With regards to selling them a different player, Udinese are still a proper football club. You could not sell them Kalu for £16m for example. You'd have to give them a player they would actually want. I don't think the £16m fee is so outlandish, but I think allowing us to loan him is probably the bit that's upset the outside football world.

The loan back isn't the outlandish bit to me as we currently need Kamara more than they do (they have Udogie for this season before he goes to Tottenham), it's that fee which is probably about twice his worth. Don't Serie A clubs need to independently audit their transfer dealings?

In regard to being a proper football club and not paying money for rubbish like Kalu, they gave us £5m or so for Masina!

The problem with this is we have very few players that you could justify selling for a large fee. What other options were there?

True. It would have better if it had been Gosling, or Cathcart. At least it would have been funny.

Udinese have just sold Udogie and loaned him back, hence it makes perfect sense for the Pozzos to do this, fee notwithstanding

I remember reading this somewhere in a piece about our dealings with Udinese, making a case that we cannot use transfers as an excuse for shuttling cash between the two clubs. How rigorous such an audit is must be in question after this move.

I feel a bit for the player - probably was eyeing up a move to a big club in France, Spain, Italy etc - now been lumbered with either going to Udinese or sticking with us.

He didn’t have to do it though. I’m sure it was worth his while.

He can probably say yes, this is a lovely house. I was able to buy it by agreeing to stay exactly where I was in the first place for a year.

‘I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.‘

I'm sure a nice signing-on fee for not going anywhere for a year is a bonus!

Can we send him back early if he plays badly?

Certainly not one of his better games, and I guess you can blame him for being a bit inflexible, but I do think LB isn't his best position, I think he's much better off as a LWB with less defensive responsibility

But someone shares his offensive career stats before. He has barely had any assists or goals in his whole career. He may not be a great LB but he’s certainly not a LWB.

That's a bit too convenient though isn't it? I'm sure most players would like to be relieved of their defensive responsibilities but the game doesn't really work like that.

Plus if we had to play with just one LWB then on current season's form I'd actually pick Sema ahead of him.

Fair (on both counts really, although we're yet to see Kamara at LWB this season), although I do think playing in a back 3 probably gets the best out of not just Kamara
