Rovers fan in peace here. I am Chair of ‘We Are The Rovers’ the Blackburn Rovers Supporters Trust. I did try twice to contact your own Watford Trust but have not yet had a response. We are having a fans ‘takeover’ at the Rovers v Watford game on the 23rd December which effectively means we work with the Club on our agenda for the day. The theme will be a ‘Blue and White Christmas’ and we are encouraging all fans to bring flags and banners to make it a more enjoyable fan experience. We have purchased some banners of our own and will be active in the Fanzone outside the Blackburn End. We will also take over the music play list which will mean you will be subject to Northern Soul and Rave music as Blackburn was the birthplace of that music (I prefer punk and Northern Soul but that gives away my age). Best of all is that Rovers management have agreed to our proposals on a Christmas ticket offer and this of course will be available to away fans. You will find the offer to be the cheapest away tickets you will have all season. I can’t tell you what the offer is yet until the Club have gone public with it. However our own Supporters Trust do hope you will take advantage of the cheap tickets and we are more than happy to see you in the Rovers home Fanzone which is a welcoming area. I will post the ticket offer in the next few days. If any of you are interested in a pre-match Rovers v Watford fans 5 aside game, or walking football for any oldies like me then please get in touch. Thanks, Mike Graham chair@roverstrust.co.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MATCH PREVIEW BELOW BY @watford willy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s Christmas and one thing that isn’t on Watford’s list is a new manager. Last time out we headed to Preston and put in a mega performance somehow winning 5-1 despite missing some cracking chances and them dominating us more most of the match. Now we go back up North after a few days down in Watford, this time it’s Ewood Park to face off against the one-time Premier League winners. Blackburn are currently on a three-game unbeaten run against us after they defeated us last time, we went to Ewood, before a draw in the return fixture and their 1-0 win at the Vic back in August. Since then, they’ve played 18, won 8, lost 10 and drawn a massive ZERO games, so 0-0 it is then…. Like us, they are decent at scoring, but tend to fall short at the back, only Rotherham have conceded more. Star man Sammie Szmodics joined from Pishboro in the summer of 2022 and after a solid if not spectacular first season has been raking in the goals, scoring 14 in 19 from midfield. Other key players include Bournemouth loanee James Hill and Swedish giant Leopold Wahlstedt. On another note, Blackburn have got, almost definitely the worst sponsors in the whole 92, rivalled possibly only by Harrogate Town’s red square. I mean look at it. TOTaLLy wiCked. ******* grow up. Anyway big ups Blackburn for their cheap tickets and charitable actions. watford willy predicts: 2-1 to Watford, goals from Ken Sema and Rhys Healey, Szmodics for Blackburn. Let’s hope for a good game and CUM ON U OOOOOORNS willy out
Thanks for the heads up Mike - I'm attending with a couple of pals hopefully but as it's our 'Christmas do', we'll probably be enjoying the local drinking holes a bit too much for a game of 5 a side!
Post some northern soul clips in here if you want this thread to gain traction. Good luck for the rest of the season. Except when you play us of course lol!
Thanks. Try this place. The best pub for miles around. 8 real ales (brewed behind the pub) all at £3.50 a pint. It is a safe pub, always a few visiting fans who enjoy a decent pint. It is 10/15 minutes drive from the ground but a bloody long walk down and back up a steep hill with no pavements. If you go park up at the pub and book a taxi down. I go with my mate post match. https://www.threebsbrewery.co.uk/
Blackburn punk band The Stiffs - clearly named after the Rovers Both the above will be on the playlist v Watford.
That's more like it. You'll soon discover that many of us on this forum hate football, but we love classic music clips.
Some news….. Rovers v Watford tickets: £10 adult (plus a £1 levy to go to our Community Trust towards local activities such as food banks) therefore £11 total. £5 concessions (seniors and 18 to 21) £2 under 18’s
Sorry, the £5 ticket is 18-23 not 18-21. Too much music on my mind. Apologies for my Chopin and changing.
I’m with you on that. They’re Verdi ing on the ridiculous. (Any moment now there’ll be a Shostakovich pun.)
@Mike Graham If you want this further advertised you may wish to discuss with the podcasts as many fans listen. DNSYE and FromTheRookeryEnd. Others more computer literate than me may be able to tell you how to get in touch
