That’ll do! Three consecutive away wins for the first time in 6 years! And this from a team who went from January to late October without even one! All three strikers on target in the last two matches. Winning matches from behind. Winning matches that (whisper it quietly) we didn’t totally deserve to win. Continuing to climb up the table. 7th now! And even a player’s stupid Instagram post during the match today isn’t going to ruin the excellent team spirit among those actually on the pitch. An unexpectedly pleasurable season that seemed unlikely a few weeks ago. There’s not a day that passes when I don’t feel stupid for being so anti Val last summer, and I thank him for it! Happy Christmas everybody. See you Tuesday for the fixture us West Country ‘Orns most want to win!
Yes and people say we need another striker in January - poo poo I say to them. Rajovic was well pumped up when he came on. Although I feared he might get sent off its good to see when you're chasing the game. Unless there's underlying fitness issues we are unaware I think Healey is more than capable. Good competition up front.
Heady times. We actually seem to have our s*** together of late. Well done to the coach and to the players who are stepping up.
When we went behind I then placed a small bet on us to win, it was free money in the first place from the bookies, a bit more of it now!
I would estimate that zero percent of Watford fans had us 7th at Christmas when Ismael signed a new contract. Keep him. I think he messed up the initial line-up but got it spot on in the second half. Blackburn were probably worthy of more but our fitness shone through.
At 1-0 down I thought we were deserving of at least a point, we got three which goes a long way to balancing the points they stole off us in the home fixture! Can we make it three in a row for the first time this season on Boxing Day, I hope so!
Absolutely extraordinary. Whether it's a swashbuckling 5-1 win or a dramatic late comeback following an indifferent performance, for the last 2 months we have consistently fought to the end and shown a fantastic desire to come out on top. We haven't had the same manager in charge for two consecutive Christmas Days since Mackay in 2009 and 2010. That's 13 years ago. Can Val be the man to break that hoodoo next year? On current form, I really hope he will be.
Are you suggesting we had a proper pre-season? Prepare yourself for numerous poorly-guarded sarky comments from certain posters.
Well done lads great win. To come back and win from behind again shows a real fighting spirit in the side. Healy does it again in the final moments and the Bog Owl pulled us level. Decent goal from them Hamer had no chance but another poor start. Two tough away games I would of taken two points from beforehand, but to walk away from Lancashire twice with three points is pretty incredible. We got much more into the game as the first half went on and it was just a matter of when we equalised not if, but to then go on and get a winner shows the mentality VI has given this young side. Thank you to Blackburn and Watford for making this game easier to access with cheaper prices. Happy Xmas and here's to Bristol City boxing day where another three points would be amazing! Oh, and shout out to Luton for winning today, they did it for Tom and Lego Head Howe losing is always a bonus.
I'm getting married in the new year. I can't imagine life without my fiancé and feels like she's been ever present. Yet she has never experienced Watford winning 3 consecutive away games. Let's make it 4
The same manager for two successive Dec 25s and Last Christmas at Number One...whatever next lol That’s a great stat btw. Thanks for sharing!
"...look, you've been sat there watching and listening to the first half, switch it off and help us with the Xmas decorations!" I f**king hate my kids sometimes...
15 goals for our strikers in all comps, Bayo with 6 (1 in the cup), a goal every 231 mins in the league and 208 mins overall as well as 3 assists, Rajovic with 8 (one every 133 minutes), and Healey, who has only played 77 mins total for us with a comical goal every 39 mins this season!
Another fantastic win. This team has so much character and after the half hearted tool downers we've been forced to endure over the last 5 years, we've deserved this! I love how Val is so brave in decision making, such as dropping the captain and subbing off TBD at half time when it's clear his tactics aren't working. I just pray that we give him 2 or 3 years to properly take us places because he is very capable of it.
You're welcome, although I have somewhat naively assumed that Ismael won't be sacked either tonight or tomorrow.
Oh yes - keep him. But I strongly suspect he deliberately plays a game of two halves. Doubles the difficulty for oppo coaches to play counter-moves. Plus possibly protects some of the more fragile players.
Indeed. if we played Healey all the time he'd get over 100 goals in the season and that is most likely a fact.
Before the Norwich match I said I'd be delighted if we had more than 25 points. So, I'm only out by 9 points!!..... This is quite remarkable. I just didn't see it happening......and to be fair I'm still not convinced by us.......but you cannot argue against the results. Just 2 defeats in 13, with 7 wins and 4 draws. 25 points attained. Make no mistake.....on paper from Norwich to Blackburn....was IMO a very tough run. To have a record of 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat from that lot is a hell of an achievement. This will delight the haters......but I was wildly wrong about us. No way are we going to be bottom 6 now. I still think we're crap.......but a crap team that wins. Ismael is doing an incredible job and long may it last.
