I guess if you were looking for new evidence, as a prosecutor you’d be all over watford transactions with a tooth comb?

 

I imagine the Belgians are but presumably the charges in the upcoming case are about dealings involving other clubs and I’d think other than a couple of niche reporters the big sports journalists aren’t going to be paying too much attention to proceedings. Maybe I’m wrong.

 

I just wish they’d get on with it so there is a verdict either way. And it’s not fair on Bayat that this has rumbled on for years either.

 

Sounds like there are 57 suspects so must be a nightmare to investigate and lead to millions of documents and hundreds of bank accounts records being requested, all of which would take time, as well as liaising with Interpol and other national investigative agencies.

Have to say, that is an absolutely spectacularly appalling answer to 'The Mogi Question' - genuinely as bad as it could have been without Scott getting up and running away, flinging his own shyt in attempted distraction as he did so.

So, exactly what we expected, then.

 

Agreed - was very poor.

 

Despite how appalling and weak that answer was to a vitally important question and how opinion on this thread is pretty clear that it was awful, I bet it's done its job. People on Twitter and the pods will still take that as case closed, time to move on.

I will say, I applaud Duxbury’s honesty in the latest excerpt about Foster and Hodgson. It galls me (and I’m sure others) why this stuff has to come out in the wash though and not been spoken about at the time - this is why the culture is bad and why the fans feel left behind a curtain of secrecy.

Duxbury being CEO - but then saying he wanted to comment at the time but couldn’t is strange.

Says Foster was fined and explicitly asked to stop the videos by Giaretta and promised he would. But he didn’t.

…although, why not suspend the player then? Why not continue to fine him? Makes a mockery of Foster’s comments about his teammates at the end of the season if true.

Also says he was disappointed and surprised ‘beyond belief’ about Hodgson’s actions at Palace and throws shade at Hodgson’s excuses for his behaviour that day, but says he ultimately has to accept his reasoning even if he truly didn’t understand it, and that ‘words failed him’.

 

And yet Foster had the nerve to come out and question his teammates at the end of the season.

They deserved to be question - but certainly not by him.

Also doesn’t say much about the authority of Giaretta.

 

They could have dropped him and told him he won’t be considered for selection. Perfectly within their power to do so.

 

Tells you everything you need to know about Ben Foster. How people jump to his defence is beyond me. An unprofessional child with no respect for the club.

 

Can't quite work out how, when Foster was asked to stop, didn't, fined, and still didn't, he wasn't then made unavailable for selection at least.

 

Weak leadership, it all comes from the top.

 

I suspect he was fined for the Paddy Pillock incident specifically. The reference to tightening up contracts suggests they didn't have a specific means of preventing him videoing in certain situations, which I find a bit surprising given it seems it would just be a reasonable instruction from an employer.

Plus, isn't the consensus on here that Gino and Scott shouldn't be interfering in team matters and so it's up to the head coach to decide who to pick? If Woy was happy with the wideos and/or had no idea what a YouTube was, then that's his call.

 

Should have kept fining him until he stopped. I liked Foster but this total lack of respect shown to the club and supporters has tarnished that

I'm not sure I applaud him. This happened on his watch by his employees. I can't buy his outrage and impotent inability to take any action at the time, whilst his bold statements now smack of a smokescreen, 'hey fans, I'm just as annoyed as you guys at these two scapegoats. I'm not the bad guy here.'

 

I guess they still felt he was the best keeper and so the best chance of picking up points when we still had an outside chance of survival ? No point in cutting off your nose to spite your face ?

 

No, and I totally get and understand how anything he says isn’t good enough. I subscribe to that view partially and my views on the man are well known.

But he’s said something, which for me, right now, is better than nothing. Airing these things means that they give themselves less ‘get out’ if it’s repeated. Will they care? Of course not - but it might, just might, turn more of the fanbase if it occurs. And that will be needed if we want them out. That’s a consideration here.

I want Duxbury and Giaretta gone and for Gino to sort himself out or sell up - but it’s not happening anytime soon. So I will air my grievances about them as and when.

The way they have acted over the last couple of years means that anything they say can be taken a multitude of ways and any answer they give will invariably, and correctly, lead to more questions.

But right now, I’m prone to be of an opinion that we wanted the club to communicate and say something, and they are doing that. And not much of it is positive, even if it is ‘Teflon’ stuff in places.

 

Sadly football isn’t necessarily about picking the best 11 players and putting them out there though - some less talented players get picked over more celebrated teammates, because they contribute more to the team/culture etc.

Hard to see how Foster was picked on that basis. It’s really not as if he was streets ahead of Bachmann.

Yes personally I'd have dropped him. Not sure if that was the reason, but we ain't seen nothin' yet to explain why Bachmann didn't replace him.
