Because some people just like a reason to be upset and some are convinced that signing any player with CD on his CV must be a great signing.
I think it is. I’m sure if we’d signed this guy he’d have made a ricket on debut due to his inexperience and many would be saying “he’s useless, what a waste of money, worse that Sierralta, should have signed x etc etc”. Then again I’m in Costa Rica after a few pina coladas, logged on to catch up and can’t cope with this wall of misery…..!!!
This is a serious and entirely earnest question, basically unrelated to the topic, but I've noticed it before and I can't help myself but ask now - is there a reason, that you're aware of, why you use 'CD' as the abbreviation/initialism for centre back, rather than 'CB', or is it just completely random? I've literally never seen anyone else do it (and yes, I realise the C stands for Central and D for defender - it's the convention, rather than the meaning, I'm interested in).
Saying ‘some people just like a reason to be upset’ is not true though is it? And I do genuinely think you know that. If people are annoyed or angry, they have their reasons whether you agree with those reasons or not. I don’t believe anyone looks for reasons to be miserable. Enjoy the rest of your holiday!
After reviewing the performance of the CBs this season Pozzo spent zero. As he always does. Simultaneously he found several million to buy mediocre players off his agent mate in less pressing positions, after also spending the bulk of the summer budget on a Bayat player who rarely plays. He earlier compounded the situation by paying a small fortune on a goalie who can’t join until after we are relegated (and who may or may not be willing to pay in the championship). It baffles me that you aren’t furious about this continual behaviour and poorly prioritised deployment of our limited resources. To call people who are frustrated “spoiled” is just sanctimonious nonsense. As someone who consistently complains about posters talking each other down, even when not involved, maybe you should take time to reflect.
It's never a lot of money for our owners either, when it's for some Mogi Bayat tat in a position of minimal concern. Of course, I'm sure those deals are 'structured' in some way that suits our owners, however, the fact remains, there's always budget for the player trading stock room, if not for our first team needs.
He reminded me of the chap in 'My Family' who looked completely out of it. That and Dylan the Rabbit from 'The Magic Roundabout'.
No coincidence that the Phillips link finally ends and we suddenly pick up a clean sheet Another Pozzo masterclass
I know he played a few games for Liverpool but think that needs some perspective. All their other CB's were injured, yet they still played Fabinho (sp) until he got injured, then Henderson, also a midfielder, ahead of him. The games he got were because he was the last cab off the rank. Be interesting to know how many of the games he played with another CB on the bench? He may be good, or at least have improved us, but there shouldn't be any surprise if he is crap. 24 with Marc Navarro levels of first team action.
For what it’s worth, many Liverpool fans on their forums and other local media felt he should have played far more than he did and rated him higher than some of the more loftier names they have in defence.
Absolutely pocketed (insert name of Boreham Wood player) the other day. More evidence that Gino knows what he's doing!
Like a football crowd isn't full of managers, it doesn't make them or local media correct. He wasn't played for a reason he ended up in the Championship for a reason.
Weren’t you using your Forest supporting mate as evidence just the other day for a point you were (badly) trying to make?
Don’t you read the forum? He’s only in the championship because apparently that’s where Liverpool him wanted to go. But let’s hope you’re right and he’s rubbish, after all the best thing for the club is that Gino continues to feel vindicated in never spending a penny on centre backs. It’s a strategy that’s working so well for the club, we surely need to all desperately hope it doesn’t ever change don’t we?
You know what the reaction on here would be like if that had been us losing to them and he played getting booked as he was. Would have insistently been dismissed as rubbish and not up to it ! Not every player who we are interested in has to choose to join us or their club must let him come to us. I am sure there are reasons why Liverpool choose to let him go to Bournemouth. Greater stability probably played a part .
We should have alternatives lined up though and looked earlier at the options but we do just seem to rely on central defenders from Udinese. Last 3 signings in that area have been from there I think?
