Solanke has had a few difficult years. But he’s having a very good season currently. And was very highly rated at Chelsea and England youth levels. He hasn’t been great or worth the money - but he’s young enough to be better. Certainly having a better season than our own ex-Bournemouth striker…
Well obviously. But would you rather have an in-form Championship striker who has 20 already this season - or Josh King who hasn’t scored in months, and has only scored in 3 games all season - against Brighton this weekend? I don’t like talking down about King. I think he’s a good player with a decent skill-set and he compliments us well when the team are playing well. But there’s no escaping his form or poor performances in recent months. He’s been terrible
I’m not sure. I think their current levels are pretty similar but Solanke is much younger (24). Already got 20 goals this season and able to create chances too. He had an incredibly dry spell when arriving at Bournemouth but was good last season and even better this one.
It's crazy how many players at various times look completely out of sorts, esp strikers - in the whole prem there's probably only a few that are on fire each season.? Put an average striker up top on his own with a poor midfield behind him and we know what you get. Same with a decent midfield but strikers not getting into decent positions. Put Vardy up top for watford in the first half of this season, he might have gotten 2 goals etc etc.. That holy grail of a well knitted bunch who have played together for 2 full seasons makes a diff..... Oh der, right we don't do that either do we...
I agree about strikers. It makes me smile when it's said these days that you have to pay tens of millions for a forward to score you 15 goals a season. Years ago the top strikers would aim to get double that.
