Honestly, he's an upgrade on our midfield.

He only needs to keep his levels for one year. He's still Slovakia's starting CM, despite his age.

I don't like the model but if we wait for Hughes and Chalobah, we'll soon find it is 11pm on deadline day and we need a midfielder NOW. We won't be signing anyone for a decent fee until they are sold.

 

Can't see any logic to this deal, if it is for us rather than Udinese.

To be fair he’ll be one of our better midfielders given them the old sub par players we have on long contracts. Hopefully this is just a one year deal…….surely?

Not a comment on Kucka, more the ridiculous nature of that response if you take it at face value.

I know it's easy to bash Duxbury but not sure where the outright lie is in the above...

 

I can put you right at your ease there buddy with a ‘no’.

It actually means we’re not bothering with Thorsby, Grimes, Siliki or Yokuslu.

 

A few senior players though. We have 31 year old Tom Cleverley and 31 year old Dan Gosling and have now added a 34 year old who plays in the same position as them!

 

Tbf, while Kucka has had an impressive career, Slovakia right now are pretty crap. Seems to have had a good year even for a rubbish Parma team, but can he adapt at the age of 34? Wouldn't be too upset if he's a backup, although I'd be a bit worried if he's slated to be a starter

If he's Gosling's replacement then fine, he sounds like he might be better than Gosling anyway. I fail to see how filling the midfield department with three players over 30 isn't blocking the pathway for Quina and Dele-Bashiru though.

 

Over 250 appearances in Serie A (including AC Milan), almost 20 European appearances, 86 international caps and 10 goals.

At some point he must have been a high quality player, is he fit enough to play EPL at 34 , we ll have to wait and see.

 

I doubt he’ll be starting many games

On the basis he’s a cheap way to add some quality and experience backup to the squad, like Sancho was last season, I’m not feeling as negative as many on here about this signing

 

If they're in the medical department that means they're not available for selection, opening a path to the first team for the younger players.

Duh.

 

If anyone here is feeling underwhelmed by this signing, just be glad we're not Southampton fans!
