As are a minority at many clubs so lets not tar all Wolves fans, like all clubs the vast majority are thoroughly decent law abiding footy fans.
Agreed. Gotta ask though. Where were the Old Bill at the time? All at Villa Park failing to stop a pitch invasion? Or aren't there any left any more anyway in the new age of austerity?
Wolves fans have never had the balls to take on other firms or groups of lads who will give it back, all they have ever done is pick on old boys, women and kids. Total and absolute cowards and scum.
No Hornet is right, Wolves always has been a particularly nasty place to go. I've been three times and each time something has happened. Can't even say that about Millwall tbh or indeed any other club I've been to a few times.
Wolves do seem to have more idiots than most. I saw loads on way back to station, on their phones in their chav gear. Policing was scandalous and a total failure.
What the hell is wrong with people? How small must these people's lives be that they feel the need to attack someone because of the football team he supports.
we all have our own opinions on the away games where we know you'll need your wits about you; which still in this day and age is pathetic. Just wish this Guy all the very best and pray to God he pulls through.
Thoughts go out to him and his family. Nobody should go to a football match and have their life threatened
It never has really. Still quite a few places you have to keep your wits about you. Have to say certain very small elements of our away support have got worse recently too.
Indeed - no time for points scoring - lots of Wolves fans on social media today expressing their disgust & wishing our fan well.
Hope the bloke recovers. It's a two way process though - I saw mugs on both sides yesterday bowling around clearly spoiling for a fight and it was certain to happen as we left the stadium. You didn't have to be a psychic to know that. As Rostrons says it was definitely one to keep your wits about you at. Sometimes the numpties on our side, who are on their heels at the first signs of pwoper nawty behaviour, forget they leave the decent fans behind to face the people they've wound up.
I think my teenage kids wonder why I keep my scarf tucked well out of sight outside any football ground and nag them to do the same. I guess I grew up with the football violence of the 70s and 80s and its always better safe than sorry for me.
So are most fans at Millwall and Cardiff, as are most fans in every club in the world probably. It doesn't mean that these three clubs do not have far more nasty fans than the average club, as from my experience that has been the case. It is only in these three grounds, Lut*n aside obviously, where I have ever felt I need to hide the fact I'm an opposition fan. The three times I went to Wolves, once my friend's younger brother got jumped because he left the group to find his car, the next I saw an old man be pushed to the floor (not intentionally but they weren't sorry) as Wolves fans looked for a fight, and the third (and final) time my car window got smashed in. The ones shouting abuse dress, act and talk like they have been brought up on the set of This is England, with even worse accents. Anyway, I really hope the guy is okay, and hope the person or people responsible get caught and put away. The sooner they get removed from modern society and football, the better. At the end of the day, I hope the Wolves fans are livid and want to deal with the reasons this happened, as it is their club thats name is being dragged through the mud.
Amazing that some people feel the need to attack a fan of another team to 'salve' hurt feelings, anger etc, etc. It is merely a reflection of their own character and a rather shallow one at that. Fingers crossed the victim recovers fully and the perpetrator(s) are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Needless to say it always is a small minority that brings disrepute to a club as this thread demonstrates all decent fans abhor what has happened. http://www.wolvesforum.co.uk/showthread.php?27784-Watford-Fan-in-Hospital
As a place, and as a set of fans they really are set some way behind everywhere else. To attack people because they support a different football team to you is as moronic as it gets.
This part of football i detest the most. My thoughts are with him and his family at this dreadful time. :dismay:
Wolves has always been one of those places where you know they'll be spoiling for a fight afterwards, and yet the Police seemed to think it was acceptable to have no presence there? A f***ing disgrace.
Dean Austin said on twitter he has face and skull fractures and is in a coma. Also has a wife and two young children. Hope he pulls through.
It really is grim up north, no decent restaurants pubs, it's not very welcoming, let's count ourselves lucky we don't have to live in these almost 3rd world places, hope you recover well fella and are back at the Vic before you no it
First and foremost I wish the fan a speedy recovery...nothing should defend a fan being put in hospital with critical injuries Yesterday I saw a number of Watford kids in Stone Island battle gear in high spirits. Nothing wrong with that in principle except, to all of us old uns, they are marking themselves out as being "up for it"! It should come as no surprise if they find trouble... For anybody else that are wearing colours then hide them when outside the ground. Don't start mouthing it off when outside the ground. Maybe it's my age but, unfortunately, this was always my understanding to avoid trouble when travelling away......especially at places which has a reputation like Wolves.
All real football fans abhor this violence. It has nothing to do with football. I wish him, his wife, children and the rest of his family and friends all the very best. Thinking of you, pal.
I am staying with my Wolves supporter mate who is as horrified as all of us Pray he makes a full recovery. As said on another thread, do not underestimate the power of prayer, if you have faith. Hopefully someone in the group attacked used their phone to try to record the faces of those threatening them. They will be caught. Scum
i hope the **** or ***** who did this get caught and made an example of. there should be no need to worry about covering up a shirt on this day and age. sad that this can happen. i'm presuming that the man injured was not causing or inciting trouble, which begs the question; are the idiot watford fans who were giving it all that partially to blame?
The saddest part of this is that now Watford Vs Wolves will be marked as pwopa nawty battle territory for the ***** in both areas. If we play them next year it will probably be the least safe fixture for fans
