As if you, "clapping like the proverbial seal", don't come across as being somewhat pompous .. Pot, kettle, black come to mind?
Just because I want to see the people who did this prosecuted doesn't mean I don't believe in redemption. Deeney did his time and made the most of it. If these people do the same then they deserve the same credit. Plus, Deeney wasn't particularly treated with leniency. His was a fairly standard case of affray with some good behaviour thrown in the hasten his release. Nothing out of the ordinary there. It's also worth mentioning that he gave somebody a broken jaw, and didn't beat somebody into a critical coma.
Big difference between someone being on a night out and getting caught up in a fight ... and a mob running around looking for an easy target to beat within an inch of their life. I'm certain most of them will get caught, I just hope they can't lie their way out of it.
Stupid comparison Deeney didn't: Attack anyone unprovoked Stamp on anyone's head Put anyone in a coma with life threatening injuries Troy served a relatively harsh sentence considering the circumstances
****ing ludicrous that this incident is being compared to other crimes in some sort of point scoring exercise. Can we not just agree to keep this thread for updates on the victim and take the nonsense into other threads?
According to Troy's brother the guy with the broken jaw wasn't the same guy that Deeney kicked in (not stamped on) the head.
Such a sad thing to happen I remember going to Wolves a few years ago on the coach and we was followed back to them by about 30 'yoofs'. They started shouting abuse at one bloke near the coaches (yeah he threw a bit back) and then all of a sudden they were all laying into him and kicking him whilst he was on the floor. 30 against 1 and the coach drivers wouldn't let us off the coaches. The police then slowly plodded up like nothing had happened whilst the Wolves fans were running away. Utter disgrace and disgusting. I hope these people who did this at the weekend are caught.
Theoretical Question. If/when culprit is found, and it is confirmed 100% that they were at the game, how would people feel about a points deduction for the club. Not just saying this because they're close to us in the table - but fans moan all the time that point deductions are all the clubs' fault for overspending/avoiding tax/player registrations (etc) - but if fans knew that their club would be deducted points if assaults happen after a game, might do something to stop it? Just a thought.
Ol Never going to happen, there is only so much a club can do, a club can not be held responsible for public areas. Where would you draw the line? If two schoolboys had a playground fight at football? I know we have to think out the box but this is a non starter in my opinion, I think tougher sentences and no second, third or fourth chances, I woukd put money on when this scum is caught it is not his first offence.
For ****s sake, I prey that link is incorrect, if not words fail me, thoughts to his family, what a sad sad day
Absolutely dreadful if the news is true. RIP and condolences to family. Hope the police bring the culprit to justice.
Wouldn't share that link around at all. Don't want rumours circulating, especially when some of his friends are on here. EDIT: Until any news is confirmed of course
I've just dm'd Anthony Matthews (for what it's worth) and the Wobserver are looking in to it. Grim, grim news if it's true
This is so sad , we were drinking in the same pub as Nick and his friends before the game, and it was just another away day with friends and ale all round , with just some wary looks around as you know what Wolves is like , but to see the day end like this , well it shocks you I hope it isnt the case but rest in peace fellow horn , if it is sad day
jeez....that is truly awful. The guy only went out to watch our beloved Watford and never came home. The thugs who did this will be wrongly named as 'football fans' and i'm sure some in the media will even say Nick was even asking for it. No one...not anyone deserves to die just for watching foorball
Very sad if true, but it's best to wait for official news, someone whose missus works in a hospital... what about patient confidentiality?
That chaps says New Cross, whereas I've just read he's in Queen Elizabeth hospital, according to the Mirror....
Or the opposite, they give too much of a .... about the clubs they support? If it is proven that the fan had bought a ticket and attended the game, and there is a clear connection (however discovered) between the assault and going to the game, maybe there'd be a case? If the post on the Wolves board is true then these events are truly saddening, what an absolute shame that a husband and father goes to watch a sporting event and never comes home. For ....'s sake what's wrong with people. Why is football the only sport that this happens to? Fans sit amongst each other at the 6 nations, the Olympics. Do we ever hear about trouble, no. For some reason this sport causes some people to resort to mindless violence.
I'm praying this source has their facts wrong, but I have a very bad feeling that it could be true.. I'm utterly sickened. This was a terrible, shocking, disgusting act of violence and tragedy that should never happen again.
reading the forum - it looks like its fairly common knowledge in the hospital...so not a breach of confidentiality?? However, some think he has got the wrong hospital? A sick sick thing to make up. Praying its wrong and he pulls through COYH
