I had not seen the news when I posted, you will see I have requested it to be deleted! As I agree it is not the time or place to discuss it right now under the circumstances.

Think a few Wolves fans pointed out that his missus could get the sack over releasing such information.....

OK mate - well done. I'm just not in the mood for participating at all at the moment until we know one way or the other for certain.

I'm signing off until we have some sort of confirmation from the Club on this, but I am praying it is some sort of misguided sick joke or a terrible misunderstanding.

So what the **** was the original post on the Wolves site about the sick *******!!!

All I'd say is that there are many reasons why the police would still take the position they've given even if things have changed.

I highly doubt a reputable poster would just make up something so serious.

    I hope I'm wrong. I do.

How very odd. Fantastic news that he's still fighting though.

Well yes either they don't know (unlikely) or it's not true. They wouldn't issue a statement like that knowing it was false. No comment would have sufficed if they didn't want something to be public at this time.

I think it was posted in good faith. This has appeared on the Wolves forum:

"I posted the news about the Watford fan in good faith.I was wrong to have posted it.I asked for the thread to be removed and now I feel devastated and upset about it.I am not courting sympathy in the slightest and I feel an utter *****.
I would like to apologise unreservedly for posting unconfirmed information at this moment in time.I have learnt a big lesson."

Firstly, fingers crossed Nick pulls through - its utterly tragic that going to football on a beautiful Saturday afternoon has resulted in this.

Secondly, lets hope (and pray) that it doesn't take a death of a fan to:

    1. incur severe punishment on whoever is responsible
    2. have an enquiry in to why this was allowed to happen in the first, whether that's the responsibility of the club or the police.

  18. no doubt it was posted in good faith, but it doesn't strike me as the sort of news you'd run to a public forum to post without confirming it - this isn't a transfer rumour, it's someone's life

Hopefully just a miscommunication and a false rumour. Hardly likely malicious. let's hope the alternative has not and will not occur.

Haven't heard as much on here, but let's get it straight - not every wolves citizen is a thug. I've had the pleasure of working here for the past eight months (the hospital of all places) and the majority are lovely people. That said, the area is deprived and I've not felt as threatened as we did on Saturday - lots of posturing and tailing of Watford fans by undesirable characters. Absolutely horrified at what has happened to poor Nick and wish him all the best. I've come into work today thoroughly disillusioned not just with the place, but with football. It's astounding how people can justify harming fellow fans in the name of some guys kicking a ball around.

Not your fault mate. We now live in a media world where there is an expectation that we will get to know everything, all the time and immediately. Sometimes that backfires. I don't think it's anybody's fault particularly. We're all part of this new culture and the tendency to 'put ot out there' rather than taking a diplomatic step backwards. It's a kind of race for a 'scoop' which is irresistible and I suspect that's all the Wolves' fan was guilty of once he had his 'information'.

Sometimes I hanker after the old days.

Don't worry about it. Let's all just make sure we don't discuss rumours or hearsay for the time-being; let's just use this as an outlet to share our best wishes until we know more.

    Agree 100 per cent.

I feel physically sick at the thought of what has happened and what Nick and his family and friends are having to go through.

All thoughts of football and my beloved club mean nothing in the circumstances.

Pull through Nick, we are praying for you..

Just cant stop thinking about this terrible event. I am a father who takes his 7 year old to games. Had Mrs S not had a hen do we would have gone. I would have hated my son to see scenes like this. He is asking enough questions about it as it is.

My thoughts with Nick's family and friends. I dont know him, but he is a Watford fan who is a father, husband, son, friend etc. he went to football to support his team, to end up in intensive care.

one very small point, I am a little surprised the club havent really said much. could it be the family dont want any official statements etc? we only know the name through twitter nothing official.

    Anyway..

Come on nick you can do it.
