"Skysports.com understands Charlton are set to beat Watford to the signing of Bournemouth defender Rhoys Wiggins.

The Hornets emerged as strong suitors on Wednesday having twice had bids for his services rejected last season.

It was thought Watford were close to striking a deal for the former Wales Under 21 international but Charlton look to have stolen a march on their capital rivals.

The Addicks have enjoyed a productive summer thus far in the transfer market having this week completed deals for Dale Stephens and Danny Green.

It now looks as though they are to complete a triple swoop as they close on a player who showed last term he is one of League One's best defenders."

If Charlton manage to beat us to a signing then something must really have gone wrong.

To be fair, that article says next to f**k all, it explains nothing. Does it mean he's rejected us in favour of them? Or that our bid wasn't actually accepted? Or that Charlton's bid was higher so Bournemouth pulled the plug on our deal?

Why should it be though, we've openly stated that our budget for players this season has had a decent increase, surely Charlton couldn't offer him that much more that he'd rather stay in League 1 playing for an average side?

To be fair , to the unbiased eye , there is a very good chance us and Charlton will be going in opposite directions in May.....add that to the fact they are a bigger club than us , then you can see why

By about 5000, do you really think a player is going to give a **** about that when deciding on a new club?

Why stay in the same division? If the money is better from Charlton then let him go. Do we need a player only interested in cash rather than pushing himself in a stronger division with us. Would he have the option of Charlton or Watford?.

What were we saying about them trying to hijack the deal earlier. Bloody typical.

I've heard a whisper that Dyche has been given a warchest to swoop for Rasiak and get Ritchie De Laet in on loan.

if we cant persuade royce to join us then what hope have we got of getting anyone of any quality to join us......
we need to show our intentions and commitment to going forward by getting some players in

Yep, it's almost certain that De Laet will decide he has made a terrible mistake going on loan to Norwich and will get it cancelled so he can come to Watford instead.

I wonder if the departure of the backroom team rang warning bells?

Charlton have had an offer accepted. Big deal.

If the lad knows what's good for advancing his career, he'll know it's best to make the step up to the Championship sooner rather than later, and not make it based on what wages clubs can offer him so early in his career.

It's all down to him, but there's no evidence he's rejected us yet, only that both WFC abd Charlton have agreed a fee. Just SSN trying to make a story out of something before it's happened.

Why would Peterborough as suggested in that report be anymore attractive money and ambition wise?

I saw his agent is Daryl Powell, are him and Chris Powell related? They are both from Lambeth as well or did they just play together at Derby? That could explain things.

This could just be a case of Wiggins talking to all interested parties before making a decision. I would probably do this same in his position.
