[CONFIRMED] Will Hughes

Very happy if this is true and goes ahead, the sort of signing I and I think a lot of fans have been hoping to see young talented HG player with bags of league experience under his belt already. Hopefully he can make the step up and flourish with us in the prem, sounds like he needs a bit of change from what I’ve seen a few Derby fans say on twitter who also seem to think he’s earnt his chance in the Prem.
Also, be nice to have a young midfielder with a point to prove to everyone and hopefully live up to the hype and potential which seems to have been talked about for years now.

That could be true! Give us this guy to wipe out some of the remaining debt. I could believe that.

 

I'd be happy with this and think it's a very reasonable price. Would be nice to see us sign young English talent

 

His career seems to have stalled a bit recently so hopefully this move gives him a bit of momentum back and he can make the step up.

I'm shocked that he's still only 22, he seems to have been around forever. It's a bit of a concern that he's never managed to get a move before now, but £8 million is a decent fee all things considered.

I seem to remember seeing An article a while back with him saying something like he didn’t want to just move to a PL club for the sake of it especially if it meant him sitting on the bench and not playing. I could be wrong and may be merging him with someone else but if true sounds quite grounded for someone who made their professional debut at 16!

This is the sort of attitude I want from a young player, prepared to stay down a league and get experience under his belt, then making the step up when he believes his time is right. If his performance can match his positive attitude, we will have a great player in our squad.

 

Doucoure, Cleverly, Capoue, Behrami, Watson, Suarez, Hughes and Allan/Lemina

Those players all fighting for 2 spots

We know Behrami wants out and I can't imagine Watson staying to be a bit part player. Think he will take a step down if it means playing every week.

That still leaves us with

Cleverly
Capoue
Suarez
Hughes (if he signs)
Allan/Lemina (if he signs)

Suarez I would think will go but I am beginning think that there might be something in the pipeline to sell Capoue (pure speculation).

Cleverly just joined us, as will be the case with Hughes and Allan/Lemina. That then leaves it between Doucoure and Capoue and there is no way we can let Doucoure go with the talent and ability he has shown.

If and when we confirm the signings of Hughes and Allan/Lemina, I wouldn't be surprised to see Capoue out the door.

 

We can but dream.

 

Think you may be right there, if you take it back to the model of selling players at their peak value then coming off the back of a good goal scoring season for a midfielder where if all the rumoured signings do come he won't be guranteed to play so much going forward which could drop his valus then it makes sense to sell now.

 

I was trying to guess what his agents name would be, but it was just a stab in the dark. (too soon?)

Very exciting for a number of reasons.

Age, potential, HG, once wanted by many. Also shows The Pozzo's are now thinking like a lot of common fans are, I imagine Hughes was on a few fans list to target this summer and that in itself is great. As we haven't always known much about many of our signings, with Hughes there's a certain level of guarantee that he won't be a major flop.

Cleverley in January, Hughes first signing of the summer, recruitment heading in the right direction. Love it!

I can see us playing a midfield 3 in a lot of games, but think you could be right about Capoue being on his way out. 7 goals is a very good return for a midfielder in a very average, low scoring side and his highlight video on youtube could easily make him look unreal to opposition fans (Despite the content being from a combined 6 games all season). Id also be very surprised if Behrami, Watson or Suarez stay.

That would leave us with Doucoure, Cleverely, Lemina/Allan, Hughes, Agbo, Pereyra(also lw/rw) for 3 spots.

If it wasn't for Hughes I would've loved us to try signing both Allan & Lemina, but that was never gonna happen. Im also very happy we're considering giving a young HG player a chance so I'm not gonna complain

 

Could Watson go the other way in this deal?

 

Probably why we're getting a cut price deal.

We should recover most of the outlay when we sell him to Sheffield Wednesday in 2 years time after he's flopped here

 

Unconfirmed reports of Richard Hughes checking in to the hotel opposite where the U21's are staying, and gaining access to their hotel by posing as Will's older brother......

 

He may be losing his place in the squad to Hughes, but it seems somewhat extreme to think that he would also stop being heterosexual ....

 

Had a look at the Derby forum - 66 pages of people in meltdown helps assure me that this is a good deal.

 

I like the fact that Sky think a medical can't be done while a player is out of the country.

 

Doubt we'll be able to shift Suarez easily on his contract. Think he'll be loaned out again unless Silva likes the look of him.

 

If we loan him to them, maybe we can say he's "playing for both teams"?
