I'll be glad when Perica is back as he is probably the only striker we have who can play up front on his own except maybe Success in theory? Deeney is just not up to it anymore so he should be benched and only used as a late sub if needed.

I said earlier that maybe we should go 4231 and I named a possible team to do so with. Well to be honest in the moment I forgot about Perica, so I have had a slight rethink: - I still like the idea of the 3 behind a lone striker, but I now think it should be Sarr Pedro & Zinckernagel interchanging across the pitch behind Perica Unless we can bring in someone better to fill that lone striker role. This means Sema would now drop to the bench along with Deeney.

I would rotate our CB's, but Kabaselle and Cathcart would probably be my normal first choice. As for the 2 in front of the back 4 I think it's difficult to say as I'm not sure if any of them are really DMF's, so when they are all fit who should we pick, from Chalobah; Hughes; Garner; Cleverly; Quina; Dele Bashiru? I think we probably need to bring in at least one or possibly two proper DMF's.

Why would it be 0-0 under Ivic? He won nearly every home game.

I think people are making the Deeney challenge out to be more than it was. Was a yellow all day.

Ironically I’m not sure knowing what a player does is considered tactics. You’re quite correct in that knowing Ben Foster is a goal keeper doesn’t make me Jose Mourinho.

I agree about Sarr. That initial inclination to go down rather trying to continue on his feet can be down to two reasons. Firstly, because he is a cheat, or alternatively his confidence is just shot.

Based on what we saw last season, I certainly think it is the lack of confidence that is the big issue.

I disagree, just seen what I thought was a similar tackle from Robinson of Fulham who was given a straight red.

    Couldn't see the difference, myself.

Deeney is more useful than Gray..... not much of a compliment that is it. Both of them are sh1t and can both **** off as far as I am concerend.

I'm going to concentrate on the positives:

    Much needed 3 points.
They can only play what is in front of them.
I thought Chalobah had a good game
    Femenia excellent
Cleverley is a great pro and his work rate is something the younger players should emulate.
    Pedro was excellent
Hopefully the win will provide a much needed boost going into a run of fixtures.

The negatives have been talked about a fair bit.

No problem with him being number one but might wait for a game when he has something to do before making a decision. I thought Hive Live mentioned Foster had broken a finger so this could be his chance

Robinson’s was studs up and Deeney’s wasn’t, probably the main reason

There is no argument, Troy is a useless player who is holding us back and who shouldn’t be starting.

There really is no defence of him that isn’t completely laughable.

It's a coward's tackle against an opponent half his size. Bacuna has basically stopped running as he's about to play the ball down the line and big man Troy decides he's going to smash him. He gets it so wrong he connects with his knee first, totally out of control. I think it was just after Sarr had delayed a pass to him which really seemed to piss Deeney off so it looked like he'd just lost his head and decided to do whoever got the ball next.

Seemed like it was in almost the same spot as the red he got against Leeds that probably cost us automatic promotion under Zola.

If that was Gray, Deeney & Murray out there I reckon the kids would score 1st :p

Embarrassing, I would say I hope he gets a retrospective ban, but a) I don't think that's possible, and b) it would only mean Gray gets a start for 3 games anyway

Yes and I remember at the time people were defending him saying the Leeds bloke made a meal of it etc because he was popular then .

Yeah, except no one really said he didn't need upgrading, did they? You've imagined that in your mind.

It's okay to admit you lost track of the thread or simply misread. You don't need to double down on your error.

Utterly, utterly bizarre comment from the person who said this:

He was decent. Not great, probably not even good. But not crap. That's all people are saying. No one is saying he doesn't need replacing, just offering their view on the performance they witnessed.

I think it was a decent number 10 performance, although he was once again anonymous as a striker. Hopefully he was playing the role asked of him.

The thread is about Watford vs Huddersfield.

I’m still confused though, for the avoidance of doubt can you confirm if you thought Deeney was decent or not?

‘Probably’ it was more to point out that under Ivic we didn’t create much going forward and early signs are that at least the wingers are now pushing beyond the front two making more opportunities on goal.

Yes - we at least look like we want to attack.

Maybe not with a lot of quality at times but better than nothing .

Let’s see what we can do away from home which is our Achilles heel.
