Sometimes I wonder where people think we find our Head Coaches. Lol managing a Sunday morning pub side?

Mazzarri has improved every club he's managed bar one. Won the Italian Cup. Took Napoli to their highest placing since the days of Maradona. Reached the Champions League knockout rounds. Won promotion. Kept a small club up despite a huge points deduction.

Yet it seems after only three matches some people think he must be useless because his English isn't faultless, because his personality might not be as warm as previous managers, because after a year out of the game he's still finding his feet in a new league in a new country etc.

    Give him time!!!!

My comment was a reference to Baldwin & Bassinger's very public & rather messy divorce. For what it's worth, I think he's a top quality manager / head coach & I also think he's going to be with us for far longer than any of our previous Pozzo appointments.

This is all just complete guesswork. You have absolutely no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

Guardiola has also said anyone who doesn't want to stay and fight for their place at City (ref Joe Hart) is also free to seek a transfer. I think he knows what he's doing.

Only issue I would take with that is Inter...but it is a genuine clusterfeck of a club.

He said every club bar one. I think it's likely Inter was an anomaly.

Hope Mazzari can wrap his head around the fact that 'his' 3-5-2 is not infallible. Didn't work with Arsenal's pace and poor crossing from the wingbacks. Seems like he might be too cocky to see it.

  20. The 352 is failing because:

Amrobat offers nothing defensively, a wing back he is not. He leaves us wide open down that flank every time

Deeney and Iggy are isolated, there is no movement from them and no link up from the midfield

3421 with Janmaat in for Amrobat and Pereyra and Success as #10s in behind one of Iggy or Deeney would fix those problems

That was exactly what we needed today. 3-5-2 doesn't work against overlapping full backs and it was naive of the coaching team to not know that.

    4-4fu**ing 2 and we a different side

Yes the formation didn't work out today and we were completely outplayed in the first half. Arsenal are a top side, and with players like Ozil and Sanchez in their team, there is always going to be the danger that we will get outplayed, regardless of the formation.

But.. Walter made a positive change bringing on Pereyra (who looked a class act), changed the formation when Janmaat came on (also looked a handful), and we were unlucky not to get more from the second half.

We have already used 3 different formations under Mazzari, which is probably more than Quique used throughout the whole season last year. He's shown that he is happy to be flexible during a game, which Quique seemed completely unable to do. To suggest that he is too cocky to see that his formation isn't working at this point seems a bit ridiculous.

Whilst the 2nd half was better, he had no choice but to change it as we were being beaten like a ginger haired stepson.

I mean that first half was woeful...except for Hornet23 who was like this:

Agreed. The mania which some fans have about a 4-4-2 is bizarre. Whilst I agree that 4 in the back needs to be a staple part of our arsenal, we quite simple don't have the out-and-out wingers you'd want for a 4-4-2. The most we'll see is a 4-something-something. What those somethings are should be variable.

Personally, I'm ready to see the reintroduction of Watson - in place of Behrami. Watson may not be the most talented midfielder that we have, but he directs traffic. Assuming that we're staying with 3 at the back for starters, I like to see this in the next match

    Gomes

    Janmaat Cathcart Britos

    Amrabat Watson Pereyra Capoue Holebas

    Ighalo Deeney

I know its on the back of the last game, but I absolutely love Mazzari already. He has us going right at the oppositions defence. Direct running, pace, power is all there. No work the ball side to side with centre mids on the wing, hoof balls aimlessly to the goalkeepers. I actually enjoy when we have the ball and have belief that we'll go on to make a good chance, which we severely lacked last season.

Hopefully things can only get better.

Walter has exposed Flores for the boring, negative, confidence-sapping poser that he was.

It's been a joy to watch Capoue unleased and loving his football. Long may it continue.
