Lineker just piped up with a 'hilarious' comment about Watford sacking managers and the tier system throughout the UK.

Remember when the club made a grovelling apology to him simply for giving him some back?

    Wimps.

Couldn’t we get two coaches, one attacking, one defensive and get them to alternate for midweek and weekend games? This is the only way I can see us getting a coach that isn’t carp at one of them.

Fun fact - just 58% of our goals came from open play this season - 21% from corners and another 21% from penalties. Pretty unsustainable.

I’ve managed to find my post and it was actually Cardiff that I lost my patience.

I think regardless of where we all collectively decided it wasn’t working, the famously trigger happy Pozzos haven’t been trigger happy enough this time around, and that ability to at least call the latest managerial failure at the right time was one of the last strengths they had.

I saw that Cantwell goal for Norwich earlier and how he found some space outside the box in between the lines, took a touch and curled it into the top corner.

Have we had one midfielder in that position or scenario at ANY point this season?

    Can't think of one.

It will be difficult for any new manager to gain the respect of the squad, as the Players - with some justification- think he he’s a dead man walking

Any old tinpot manager (like Ivic) with modest success in a European league will be throwing their hat into the ring. Not to further their career of course, but just to get a £2m payout after getting the sack four months in. Sets them up nicely for 20 years. Job's a good'un.

Some will attempt to convince you Hughes does that.

Once every few years maybe. But he doesn’t even shoot regularly to be honest. A No.10 creative midfielder within our ranks may well have kept Ivic in a job - but do we believe he’d have let such a player express himself? I don’t.

I think they pulled the trigger on Gracia far too early but otherwise, agreed.

I think the squad have to believe in what a coach is doing. Some of our players have worked with some of the true greats in management - Ferguson, Mourinho etc. To them, seeing a 'nobody' coach lose his mind and attempt constant power games - which started with the players that supposedly wanted out - might have grated after a while.

The club are desperate for promotion. It feels like make or break. Ivic didn't stand a chance doing what he's been doing - rightly or wrongly.

It will be very interesting to see if Will Hughes suddenly reappears in the next game or two.

Is it possible it was all just a huge misunderstanding and Ivic thought he was taking over a premier league team, hence the formations and cautious approach?

I should think so. I doubt the next guy will insist on 7 incremental matches of increasing minutes from the bench before playing him.

All that protecting players in cotton wool for future matches really paid off......NOT. Crazy he never grasped the fact he wouldn't have a long term future.

When Troy said he wanted to play with Perica more I wondered if Vlad was going to show him who picked the team. Yes, he showed him, and this is the result.

Two keepers on the bench indicates that Vlad was falling out with Gino and bringing on three defenders when we were chasing the game suggests that Vlad knew he was out.

I am desperate for us to go up, but at this point I would just love to see a team playing with a bit of joy and freedom . If Vlad’s football had been effective I would have happily put up with it but it hasn’t been so I’d just like a coach who will give it a go and get the best out of the attacking options he has .

My thoughts exactly - who the hell would want to come and manage here now with our record? We are a joke.

Nothing has changed with the manager situation. Well easily attract loads of ‘up and coming’ young European managers as it’s a no brainer.

We won’t get any decent established managers, not because they won’t come here (and they probably wouldn’t) but because we offer one year contracts paying **** all.

We’ll get the decent managers if we pay the money, for the same reason the managers in the first paragraph take the job, but we never will, more so now because even if we wanted to, we now can’t afford to.

I think the Pozzos have been sinking for 18 months now and simply don't know how to turn things around.
Two decent years in the Prem and they thought they'd cracked it, starting dishing out big contracts and investing most of their money on kids for loaning out and potential big profits.
Two years on the squad literally fell apart, too many players thinking only of their next big move etc, and also other teams just sussed us out.
GP now has no money to splash, too many awkward players, some past their prime and several too inexperienced for us to pressurise in a "must go up" team.
GP seemed to go safety first, sell off certain players, and watch their new manager rebuild a young fresh team that can challenge this season.
Then Ivic turns up, tries to set us up like Barcelona ffs and here we are...
I think Howe would come in but he'd want a 3 year deal with a Gtee to bring in 3 players of his choice in January... Can't see it.?
Right now i don't care.... Somehow we will climb out of this hell hole but not any time soon....

    I'm with you.

But generally I think any manager deserves a full season to see what they can do.

But having said that Ivic had lost the plot and the players. Understandable.

There is just no chance Howe will take the job. We can make all the guarantees we like - he will know they are hollow and he won’t get the autonomy he wants.

Any coach worth his salt will know by now that Gino talks the talk, but rarely walks the walk. Howe just isn’t compatible with how we operate whatsoever. And that’s not going to change.

It was either far too early or far too late, we should either have been ballsy and get rid of him in the summer, or give him a chance to turn it round, but four games into the season just screamed of panic

For those who want Deeney gone as well, they should beg for John Terry’s appointment.

Can’t see how Deeney could be (rightfully) so vocal about racism etc and accept playing under John Terry.
