Get rid, or keep?

  1. Keep. He's Mr Watford, helps put the club on the map etc

Barker is a giggling sycophant. Dawson and Tuffnell are grade a c***s. The whole show should have been put to sleep about 30 years ago. Embarrassing and dated

If the newly promoted sides keep losing, could be one of them takes a gamble on bringing in Deeney - though less likely Leeds.

Although if I was them I'd take the punt on Welbeck over Deeney.

Sigh. No one's going to take him, are they?

Definitely, I'm a bit surprised Welbeck hasn't been linked with a move away more. Obviously he's had his injury issues, but so has Deeney, and Welbeck has a lot more about him than Deeney these days

A lot of hubbub online from Tottenham fans about him, but I don't know if they're messing around after years of being linked with players like Dybala. Please be true!

Not sure how reliable & itk '@TheSpursExpress' is on Twitter but he's confident that Spurs are about to sign Troy.

I read that Spurs and WBA are in a ‘race’ to sign him but you’re probably right.

I lost some respect (and some players too imo) when he refused to train during lockdown despite constant multiple Covid testing of staff.

If he was really concerned about his young daughter he should have holed up somewhere away from family for a few weeks to see out the season and do his job as Club Captain, not go awol.
I’m sure his £60k pw could have found him somewhere comfortable.

I'm just happy you're all waking up to see what a self absorbed, brain-dead ****** the man is who will do anything slightly controversial for a bit of media attention.

I can confirm after speaking to him that this guy is not 'itk'.

God I hope he goes soon!

Maybe so, but no one is taking away the 10 years of excellent service and happy days in the memory banks.

It’s sad he’s becoming a caricature of himself but he still doesn’t deserve some of the OTT vitriol and OTT abusive comments.

Better for all parties he now leaves so we can remember and talk about the positives, rather than him hanging around with more abuse thrown his way.

To be fair to, he hasn't exactly shown any public commitment to staying and getting us back up - So think for both parties it's time to part ways. Been a great servant and signing over the past 10 years - But now he can go and talk about Arsenals cojones to Spurs fans.

I imagine we’ve had this conversation with a few clubs:

“That Troy Deeney could be useful. Paul Merson said he’s brilliant. Any chance we could do a deal here?”

“If the price is right, then certainly. We won’t stand in Troy’s way if he wants Premier League football. We’ve seen what he does to people who stand in his way of the buffet”

    “And what’s the right price?”

“Given his age and that he’s in the final year of his contract we’d be willing to allow him to leave for a nominal fee, or even a loan...”

“... as long as you picked up his £100k p/w wages”

    “How much?! F*** off”

Remember PL sides can buy from EFL teams until Oct 16th...someone will wait until after 5th Oct when we will not even demand the £5.5 mill release fee.

It would be absolutely hilarious if he goes to Spurs... I was already contemplating backing Jose as the first casualty this season that would turn it into a banker.

Opens a striker spot up at Burnley?

Unless you’ve seen something I haven’t, it looks like the origin of that rumour is an unreliable twitter account named EFL Hub. Don’t think Vydra>Derby is happening. They have linked us previously with Liam Lindsay, Kyle Vassell and Beni Benigame - links that were never reported elsewhere and never materialised. I don’t think one dodgy link = “heavily rumoured.”
  27. Burnsy

Apologies, I just meant heavily rumoured on social media which I admit was unintentionally misleading...

I really don’t have the time to forensically study everything I see to find it’s origin however!

No worries. Would be surprised to see Vydra to Derby though. That said, if a striker does leave Burnley, you could see them coming in for Deeney or Gray so it’s something to keep an eye on for sure.

I don't think we can just blame Deeney for not wanting to play (strange though he basically said he wasn't going to train then turned up about 3 days later...) when the football re- started.

Pearson, Pozzos Snr, Duxbury etc all expressed doubts and quite frankly it seemed to me the whole club attitude was we don't want to be here.

Hence our poor run after the re-start - focus and minds weren't on the job in hand.

I think every other team wanted to give it a go at least.

  34. LeedsOrn

    LeedsOrn Academy Graduate

Yep. I know they also want to sign a Polish winger named Jozwiak. Been after him for a while. Don't know if Ibe is an alternative or in addition. 3 attacking reinforcements would be surprising from them, particularly as Vydra is quite similar stylistically to Jack Marriott, but they did sell their two full backs to Sheff Utd last week so maybe they have cash to spend. But would be very surprised if they brought in Vydra.
  35. Burnsy

    Burnsy Squad Player

Their local rag seem convinced they are bringing both wingers in AND still want a striker too. So I wouldn’t be that surprised. But given that Vydra still got at least a handful of games for Burnley last season, I suspect they would want to bring someone in before letting Vydra go. Hopefully Troy...
