Doesn't mean he was either. You know, for balanced argument reasons.

His teammates were all happy to return to training and didn’t stand in solidarity with him. Of course he may have kept any serious health issues his baby had a secret even from them, but he’s more than happy to spout off about most things so it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t have told at least one of them. If he had, and also had genuine cause to be concerned, you’d imagine more support for the club captain would’ve been forthcoming, especially as most of them will be fathers themselves. Also with a league full of about 1000 players and management, there must be some players with close family potentially at risk, yet still no support for him.

But you’re right, doesn’t mean he was either, although generally speaking if it looks like a turd and smells like a turd, then it’s normally a turd.

I don't compare wanting to end the season for the whole Premier league along with the Club alongside Pearson and Duxbury remotely with publicly downing tools. The former is supporting the club, the latter is letting your club and team mates down.

Ok - didn't he return a week later and some others missed the start too?

Not like he didn't bother at all.

Least he didn't miss a game because he'd rather have a party 2 days before a game then make exuses about it.

    Anyway it's done now.

Let's hope one of our other strikers can get 20 goals to lead us to a promotion push .

Comes back, gets sent off against Luton/scores the winner then goes off on his shield to Fenerbache. Happy days.

Why have we got two Troy Deeney threads on the go?

That £100k pw figure rearing its head again. I didn’t realise he still had 2 years left though, I thought this was his last year. Plus it’s suggested that if he hits certain criteria this year (eg appearance goals) then the contract will be automatically extended. Imagine another 3 years of paying him all those wages.

I highly doubt Fenerbahce would appeal to him or that Burnley would pay those wages. Hopefully West Brom or Spurs get desperate!

Of course he did. But when you have a vendetta against someone, for reasons that are obvious to most, reality doesn't make any difference.

    If you're a footballer over 30, there's a good chance you'll get a 5 year contract at Watford.

Why should the club leave anyone out just so Deeney can play his last game. If he's going, then he needs to go ASAP, after all there won't be anyone in the ground to see him off.

I really want Deeney to leave and think it's time both parties move on.

But I have more faith in Deeney to show up against Luton than anyone else in the team.

Would probably even give mariappa a start on a 1 game contract

I don’t want Deeney anywhere near the squad against Lut*n. Absolute weapon will deliberately get himself sent off. He will gob off during a pre match presser and basically do their teamtalk for them.

You’d have to think the coach would be under orders to make sure the targets aren’t hit to give him an extra year?

That said, his agent deserves a medal for getting him a deal of that length - and our owner needs to get a grip for allowing it.

We need a striker of real ability against L*ton who will put them to the sword. Not Troy and his brand of bravado getting smashed all over the park.

It would be quite funny is Deeney was fully fit and went somewhere else to get a few goals and all our other strikers got about 5 between them...

    And Suarez left...

Or if fit might get a goal or two as a proven Championship striker?

I 'd love Suarez and co to be the answer but pinning our hopes on young kids or strikers aged 37 is a lot to ask for.

And Gray...maybe he'll have another party before the game with more than 6 people.

Da***? I thought he was supposedly in his last year.

The club will surely let him rot rather than trigger an extension.

He won’t score. He is so immobile that there is literally no point playing him in Ivic’s system.

Maybe not but then is Murray the answer ?

Pinning our hopes on Pedro or Gray I think unless Sarr or Suarez stay.

I guess he was useful in breaking up play v Boro by either winning or giving away free kicks !!

Im pretty sure he signed for 5 years. Everyone else is saying this is the last year of his contract and he's on around £65k a week.

  26. wfcmoog

It's for accounting and depreciation. 100k a week over 5 years is actually cheaper than 60k a week for 3 years. It's an accountant thing. Clever Pozzo accounting.

He's put on a lot of weight in retirement. Still slimmer than Deeney.
