This is my issue with recruitment. Every club buys duds and actually I think our success in the transfer market is better than most. However, the lack of clarity and direction between transfers, style of play and head coach is non existant. Pick a style of play and philosophy and then recruit a head coach with same ethos and then provide him with players that fit that system and style.
Foster Ngakia Cathcart Dawson Kabasele Femenia Garner Cleverley Sarr Pedro Sema Would like to see this tomorrow. Chalobah, Wilmot and Quina all looked poor in the first couple of games and would be good to take a rest.
I reckon something similar, although I'd imagine Chalobah was taken off at HT midweek with the view to starting tomorrow, and Garner won't have trained with the squad so doubt he will go straight into the team. I'd love Sarr to start but I'd imagine we'll see him from the bench and Quina starting.
After the spurs game everybody was Praising the work rate shape and technical skills of these players and questioning why weren't they used last season , 2 competitive games into the season ,you are now suggesting that they should have a rest. What going to happen when they have to play on heavy and wet pitches later in the season. I personally think that Quina has a fitness/ stamina problem,he always seems to have a outstanding initial game and then fade away. To Pearson's disgust he had to come off at half time gainst Tranmere with cramp on a flat vicarage road pitch.
Foster Ngakia, Wilmot, Catchart, Kabasele, Femenia (femenia, let me go, beelzebub has the devil put aside for me, for me) Cleverley, Chalobah Quina, Sema Pedro Sarr for Quina after 60 mins Murray for Pedro after 70 Perica for Murray after 90 mins
Not a rest from physical exhaustion, a rest due to loss of form. But your point on Quina is spot on - a couple managers haven't trusted him to get through a 90 minute match, at least under Ivic he's completed a couple.
Some of this is more in hope than expectation, but tomorrow's lineup could look like this: ------------------- Foster Ngakia Dawson Kabasele Cathcart Femenia -------- Garner Cleverley Sema -------------- Perica Suarez I reckon there's still too much speculation around Sarr for him to be given a start. I'm also not sure Vlad sees JP as someone ready to start every game, and if Suarez is available he could be given a start instead of him. Suarez and JP would also probably be too similar together, so Perica could be given another chance to link with a better player after his Oxford performance which had glimpses of promise.
This is going to be a massive test. They've won three out of three this season without conceding. Their strikers are scoring and they have a settled side, full of Championship experience. Also seem to have a real togetherness, forged by the points deduction. A draw would be a decent result and keep Vlad's invincible aura intact.
[THREAD-DRIFT]I was still in living in Vilinius when, in 2001, the RAF held a commemorative flypast for the one Lithuanian in the Great Escape Fl Lt Romas Marcinkus (his character in the film was allegedly represented by Charles Bronson who was of Lithuanian descent). There's small, but dignified, memorial plaque in the RAF museum in Hendon to all of the "Great Escapees" (towards the back of the bomber hall).[/THREAD-DRIFT]
Quina may get tired because he has never really had the opportunity to play a run of game's at first team level.
We have since equalled it with another 6-1 at Leeds. Some would argue that 5-0 is as big because it’s the same margin, so there’s the one at Fulham in the promotion season and another years ago at Wolves when Mo Johnston scored a hat-trick in about 8 minutes.
Quite nervous about this one . I think Wednesday have got a half decent midfield . If it’s a similar team we put out vs Middlesbro we could struggle to get a foothold. Maybe we might see Sarr abd/ or Suarez on the bench though
My wishful thinking lineup... Foster Cathcart Kabasele Wilmot Ngakia Cleverley Chalobah Sema Sarr Suarez João Pedro Bachmann Dawson Femenia Quina Philips Perica Murray Far too attacking, especially for an away game, and unlikely we'll see Suarez and Sarr both starting. But we can dream.
Probably one of the weak points of our likely crop of forwards for the season to be honest. Murray's 37 and Perica, whilst tall, doesn't strike me as the rough and tumble type. Gray does well for his size, but the others are more reliant on pace and technical skill than physicality. Murray Perica Gray Sarr Suarez João Pedro
Might have Garner straight onto the bench for Phillips. Last minute change to my lineup for a last minute loanee.
That win away at Fulham was finger lickin' delicious. It was a night game on the telly wasn't it? The unfortunate bad back keeper was that Spagheterrelli (sp?) who turned out for Boro the other week.
Phillips needs to be on the bench for homegrown purposes, but by all means have Garner on the bench too
