I nearly went to university in Sheffield, but didn't. 1-2. Deeney 3rd min (P); Success clearance takes a deflection of Michael Oliver. Pozzos announce a big signing is imminent (17 y/o unknown from Paraguay).
They are not Champions League but the they are a very good & well coached team, they will provide Watford with a very tough game. Aston Villa is the game that you need to win, it is a classic 6 pointer.
They are flying. First half of the season up we were flying as well. 2nd half of the season they will find more difficult, like we did. Opposition coaches now know what they are about and won’t make the same mistakes again. The challenge for them, like it was with us, is how to evolve when that happens.
The United fans are all butthurt over this thread on their forum, sensitive bunch. Seems like we don't have a right to think we can beat the mighty blades, being bottom and all. I mean, they are 5th. They know that very well. I wish I could count as well as them, it would make these football predictions much easier. It's not like this is the exact same group of players who almost got that final Euro spot and reached the FA cup final last season. We should probably just roll over, no newly promoted team has ever been knocking on the European places at Christmas before right...
Whist we need to be realistic about where both teams are in the league we are a side that should not be underestimated. I feel we should be able to get a draw tomorrow if we match them for determination
We won the first four games of last season, the fifth was winnable and would’ve cemented us joint top. for a team like us to win five on the bounce though is extremely unlikely, and even though it was a winnable game, predictably we lost it. The point I’m trying to make is that Sheffield utd so far this season have done amazingly well, they are super organised and are playing without fear... but it won’t last, like us over a much shorter period last season, it never will. Despite our league position, man for man we are better than them wether they like it or not. All Pearson has to do is make each player realise that and make sure we match them for work rate and there is no reason we shouldn’t win. The only thing we will struggle to match them on is confidence, but hopefully the Man Utd match has got us bit closer on that front.
I did have a quick look on their forum, I think what they’re saying is pretty normal for any football fan in the same position. When you’re doing well and winning it’s very difficult to ever see that ending, likewise as we know the same applies when you’re playing awfully. We would have probably said the exact same things in our first season, when we won four on the bounce December and beat Liverpool. At the time we probably couldn’t see that ending and would’ve scoffed if the bottom team suggested they could’ve beaten us at that time. As we all know, It did eventually end as it will at some stage for Sheff Utd. They finished behind Norwich last season, they haven’t added much in the way of significant quality over them, but are riding much higher in the table. In the end quality tells, teams won’t take them for granted and will do a bit more homework, and as soon as the work rate drops a few percent it will all unravel. This may well not happen as soon as tomorrow, but as we know all too well it will happen at some stage.
Excellent Moog. The Welsh language often sounds like someone speaking English back to front and this famous little town epitomises your prediction.. Merry Xmas.
You have to cut them some slack. They're innocent. First season. Doing well in a series of fairly undemanding fixtures. They're bound to be filled with pish and wind. And Yorkies are excitable in the first place. It's perfectly reasonable for them to live in a little utopian dream world where the likes of clod-hopping Oily McBurnside and George Baldcock are previously undiscovered top-notch premier League players. Let them enjoy their 5 mins in the sun and I for one, hope that the incoming boxing day whupping and next year's inevitable relegation doesn't put too much of a dampener on their Xmas celebrations.
Maybe not the place to post but anyone who wants an uplifting Christmas, watch Gareth Malone’s Christmas Concert recorded at Watford General Hospital. What a job they do and it shows the real Watford community next to our famous Vicarage Road Stadium. On 1.30pm today BBC2 repeated from Xmas Eve and on catch up/iPlayer. Happy Christmas everyone.
Both of us haven't had much like luck with VAR so have to see who gets some good fortune with it.. Need to build on the result from Sunday - sure we weren't great as they suggest but defence wise we seem more solid. Hopefully take our chances when they come this time unlike in most games this season!
Has anyone even seriously suggested that we are going to thrash them? Because they are wetting themselves a little bit on the Blades forum about it. I am under no illusion that this is going to be an easy game but we should be a looking for three points against Sheffield United. Yes they are 5th and we are currently bottom but I still believe we have a better squad than them, they have had momentum and done very well and for some reason we have not clicked this season, however I think we are starting to click now. We played some of the best football outside the top six last season and challenged for a European place and reached the FA Cup final with virtually the same team.
I've no reason to dislike Sheff Utd at all. They've been a great addition to the Premier League and play good football. I don't think they'll keep up the present form, but will likely finish mid-table 'ish. Good for them, they deserve loads of credit and I wish we had had a coach like Wilder from the start of our season. I think they are not a top six side, and we are not a bottom six side. This game can go either way, but in my usual glass half full mode, we'll scrape a win. Fine margins.
Routine win now we've found our form. Already looking forward to Villa - proper team with proper PL pedigree.
I tried to sign up to their forum before the last game to go on there and put our side of things across. Never got approved, I assume because of my Watford username chosen. They clearly dislike any real debate and are happy sitting in their own little echo chamber massaging each others egos than actually intelligently discussing with opposing fans.
They've been doing well and good on them, seem like a good honest squad of players. First and foremost we have to match their work rate, they get around the place and have outplayed teams far better than themselves through high intensity and work rate, anything less than matching that and we haven't a hope, for that reason I'd be surprised if we see Quina or Pereyra start.
Sheffield Utd are way better than Manchester Utd. If we couldn't beat Manchester Utd at home we don't deserve to be in the EPL. This game will be a much sterner test. It's against a team going for European qualification, as opposed to a bunch of overpaid, disinterested deadbeats.
After we smash these championship no hopers 3-0 we'll be well on our way to survival. Hopefully their fans enjoy their big day out watching the likes of Delefou and Doucoure. Nice Christmas treat for the gravy boys.
Have a horrible feeling that the absence of Doucouré will show how important he is to us, even when he's not in the best form. There's no natural replacement, particularly for the energy he brings in the advanced role Pearson has deployed him in.
I'm supporting you bunch of losers today over the other bunch of scummy losers ha ha ha. Let's go hornets.
I think we can get a result today. I have narrowed it down to a probable win, lose, draw or cancellation due to flooding in the catering areas affecting pie availability.
Well we may not even meet each other next season. Your lot look pretty good for the playoff's as things stand, and although performances have picked up for us, we still have a massive task of staying consistent for half a season. Oh, and I'm sure most Watford fans have forgiven Sheff Wed for denying us the Championship title in 2015.
Maybe stating the obvious but Register using a stealthy name like Blade of Horace , then show no mercy like a Fox in the chicken run before you're banned.
Yeah but Lord Almen of Abdi went there and was so heartbroken by leaving Watford that they ended up paying him £30k a week for three years to do nothing.
From the look of his Instagram, he's on a neverending 5* round the world trip. I'm guessing he retired just after rinsing Wednesday for three years without playing.
