lets be honest, we got away with a point.

In a nutshell we were pretty crap

    Take it and be grateful

Lucky overall, disappointing that we couldn't get any moves together going forward, but it is hard to play against the relentless pressing of United.

Injuries and suspensions showing our lack of depth, need them back soon. It is like playing with 10 men with chalonah, he doesnt do anything offensive or defensive, he just sits there and recycles the ball to nobody in particular.

Beat villa, results go our way and we are still in touching distance. But, it was worrying to see us go back to being clueless in possession and static going forwards, I was hoping we were beyond that now.

Really needed the 3 points today, but it is what it is.

Not the prettiest of performances but a solid away draw with a goal from open play. The march to survival is now in full swing. Key thing is to get someone in up front in January and we'll be safe with plenty of games to spare.

Imagine watching all our ‘attacking’ players today and singling Deulofeu out as the one for criticism?! Sure he’s frustrating at time but he literally was the only one giving it a go for 90 mins. Sarr was withdrawn at H/T and Deeney was anonymous and 10 yards behind any sort of attacking play. Pereyra never ever sprints and hogs around slowing play down and Chalobah has no business playing as a No.10.

We got a good point but not great results elsewhere.

Defence seems solid but we do need better in attack.

    Villa and Wolves must win.

I hope Sarr is ok for Saturday. We really missed his pace when he went off. Foster’s interview after was interesting. Saying that Pearson is just what we need right now - a manager who gets involved in all elements of the club and keeps everyone on their toes. Sounds good to me.

Very poor up front and it is so flipping frustrating that so many players struggle with the basics. Nevertheless that is a great point against a team in form.

They have so much more to give, compared with other sides around us, and that is why I am confident we will move up the table.

An away point is decent enough, but my main concern is the same as after the Liverpool game. The opposition are irrelevant in our situation - we need points and today was a chance at 3. However, 1 is better than none of course.

Biggest issue with today is our continued complete inability to do the basics with any sort of competence. If we have a throw-in deep in our own half, we struggle every time to make use of possession and just seem keen to get it to halfway and lose the ball. Keeping the ball isn’t important to them. And set-pieces...my god we are beyond awful at them. Free-kicks, corners, throws - just terrible at them all. Success rate is very very near zero from key positions.

Realistically 4 points minimum from next 2 games. But need 6 desperately. Then it’s surely time for reinforcements and Joao Pedro - pressure will be on the latter but I really doubt he can be worse than Deeney right now.

Good result . I would definitely have taken that before the match and we are really fighting for every ball .

We seem to have regressed a bit , since Liverpool though . We were passing more incisively and looking more capable of creating something in that match , but looked largely toothless today . We missed Doucoure as Chalobah doesn’t seem to be the player he once was ( despite providing the assist).

Think there is still hope though but we are gonna need to really go for the win vs villa it’s a massive game, I hope we can score .

Deeney was summed up in one moment within the first few minutes when a nice ball was sent up to him, he chested it down into space, but was so slow the defender easily won the ball back.

I’d be willing to wager Deeney won’t score from open play this season. We desperately need a half decent striker and we’ll be in with a chance.

  13. We were awful. Sheffield Utd were awful. The game was awful. Other results didn’t go our way. Next week is last chance saloon imo.

I hope we can invest in a couple of players in the window. To me, a back up for Sarr/Geri is becoming more important. Bobby P isn't the guy we need there - though he could be handy in the CAM role. Need someone with more pace as a backup. Striker is still needed unless this Pedro is the dogs bollox.

Still need a full back and a CB to IMO.

Amusing how often their 6 ft 2 Championship cloggers fell like dandelions in a breeze when our fancy dan winger was within 2 yards of them.

    Decent point though.

It wasn't a great performance, but it's very difficult to tell how much of that is us falling off, and how much of that is the way Sheffield Utd play and them forcing us into looking worse than the past couple of performances. What I do find funny, particularly in hindsight, is all the Sheff fans crying their tears about Deeney's pre-match comments on their playing style: "Guess he hasn't watched us in years"/'How dare he, we play decent football" etc etc. If that was 'decent football' by Sheffield standards, it's even grimmer than I thought.

What this game exposes once again is the failings in our squad; the fact that some players can't be relied upon (to save us or otherwise), such as Deeney and Chalobah; and that the idea that 'this squad is strong enough to escape relegation' is arrogant, profligate and stupid, and will see us actually relegated. If you can watch the performance of a single one of our strikers and claim they're going to score the goals needed to keep us up (particularly when all other goal sources have long since dried up themselves) you have no place in a decision-making capacity at a Premier League football club.

Disappointing to see how little Pereyra offered when he came on; some at the start of the season deduced that, since he had suffered relegation with his own team beforehand, he would know what it was like and be the first one manning the barricades/over the top/actually bothering to put any effort it. It was a logical deduction, but sadly, as we can now see, utterly wrong.

Amazed Chalobah got the nod over Pereyra or Quina, other than the assist I barely remember him touching the ball. Deeney anonymous, Foster immense. Thought the penalty was a bit harsh (but can see why it was given), not sure how much Hughes knew of it. Set-pieces still terrible and so easy to exploit given a bit of work.

  20. That moment when you're happy number 22 didn't go up on the board but suddenly realise number 18 did.

If we need strength anywhere then it's clearly up front. We have no forwards on the bench that bring anything whatsoever to any games. So when our first eleven forwards are tired after belting around up front chasing lost causes all afternoon that's it. We're done as an attacking threat.

Success on Saturday nearly set up 3 man utd goals in the 5 minutes he played. Gray today came on and with his supposed "pace" didnt really chase anyone down, and has the elegant touch of an overweight rhinoceros.

Pereyra, Deulefeou, Success, Gray and Sarr together cost somewhere in the region of 88m. Laughable isn't it?

Ok, Sarr has offered some threat and is single handedly carrying our Hopes of any sort if attacking threat, but seriously, we played against a team of postmen and hod carriers today who offered more threat.

How on earth have we allowed our squad to get to a level where we have spent the GDP of a small African nation on an attack which can't generate even a remote threat?

    Loan, it’s not that difficult.

We'll have to pay over the odds, but we don’t have any strikers capable of scoring goals at the moment.

As Moog has already said, there's nothing nasty about it; it wasn't anything to do with you; it was referring to the Leventhal Athletic mouthpiece article that came out earlier today which carried that very message. In saying that, however, you have exposed the fact that you do believe that, which is concerning in itself.

We were fine. Sheff United are a great team. Beat Villa and this will most definitely be looked back as a point gained not two dropped.

In desperate need of a striker.

Would like to see Janamat or Masina back in.

    Quite.

4 points from Man Utd at home and Sheff Utd away is more than acceptable. It wasn't the best performance we've ever put out, but certainly wasn't as bad as some appear to be colouring it as.

Utd's long ball game was always going to be a different sort of threat from what we're used to, but I thought our centre halves dealt with the aerial bombardment pretty well. Kept their big man up front pretty quiet.

Shame about Hughes giving the penalty away, but onwards and upwards.

I wasn't accepting it personally, but I am one who thinks that our squad is good enough at near their best, I just don't know why people with different football opinions are called arrogant/stupid. This lot finished mid table last year, and I am not sure why it is arrogant (even if wrong) to think they can escape relegation.
