Yes, it’s obvious we will likely plug some of the gap with player sales of varying degree, depending on how much the club are willing to gamble - but I suspect they are accepting that they will be running at a big loss for 12 months.

Where I don’t agree with you is where you say we won’t reinvest any of it - I really think we will.

Only reason I say that is because of the sort of players and deals we've been linked with and the depth of the squad that we still have after those departures.

    Ngakia - free
    Suarez - already here
    Estupinan - already here
    Sema - already here
    Perica - Udinese
    Troost-Ekong - Udinese
    Sierralta - Udinese
Mawson - could well be loan
Gibson - loan rejected previously and unwillingness to stump up a fee may well explain lack of interest this time round
Giannoulis - this one was a fee sure, but hardly going to break the bank in the scheme of things

Given that the season starts in two weeks, deals on outgoings to secure the investment haven't yet been done and window closes soon after I can't see that we'll be able to get any big moves away in that time, particularly for players that would improve on what we've already got

Very true. A journalistic 'get out of jail free card'.

Troost-Ekong is the only Udinese based player we have been linked with that does not sound too bad to me.

Yes exactly, but the point is we will need to sell players to plug that gap, we can’t just completely ignore it and operate as a premier league club for one season as HB1 suggests, unless he would still class us as a premier league club after selling the players you suggest. Either way we can’t just do nothing.

Yes agreed. We have to cut our cloth. But to be fair I think @hornetboy1 point was not that we need do 'nothing' as much as we don't need to do more than this in our first season after relegation. Doucoure, Delufeou, Welbeck yes but no need to sell Sarr or loan Capoue.

Are we even linked to Gibson?

I think we’re broadly in agreement but I don’t think it’s quite so simple. We have to make cuts and some players will need to leave, unfortunately there is a direct correlation between how good our players are and how much interest there will be in them from other clubs. I don’t want Capoue to go for the same reasons as everyone else, but that’s because he’s one of our better players and that’s why there will be more interest in him. It’s all very well saying let’s just get rid out our rubbish players, but someone needs to want them and be willing to pay their wages, when they’ve been so rubbish the chances of that are pretty slim. It’s likely that some players we don’t want to leave will leave simply because when the music stops we’re going to need to shift some players one way or the other.

Doucoure is near as gone to Everton, Welbeck has been strongly linked with Southampton and I find it hard to believe that Delufeou won't attract interest. The sale from those three alone should cover the wage gap without having to try and convince anyone to take players in low demand or offloading other players that we'd rather keep. I do get there is a point where finances may require us to cut into the meat as well as removing the fat, but it seems to me that we're not at that point yet. I think that would come next season, when yes if we didn't get promoted Sarr would have to go even if he was willing to stay.

A bit out of order they took the photo while he was having a bath. Give the guy some privacy FFS.

But it's a good sign. I always take a shower with my Watford shirt on because I love the club so much. Glad to see Pervis is of the same mindset.

I know that it is not a competitive match but I think it is an absolute joke that the club have not even put the team up on the club website or score updates for the fans. Starting to get fed up with them now I spend so much money and time supporting Watford and the club are just treating fans like *****.

On orders from Ivic it seems.

But the game next week is advertised as being as streamed on the Hive.

He's definitely staying because he's been pictured fulfilling his contractual obligation to attend pre-season and train. This means a transfer to any other club is now physically impossible.

Someone had to actually buy him for him to leave though, Barcelona won’t pay what we want so it will depend on whether someone else will. That could of course happen but he’s hardly one we’ll be desperate to shift out the door.

If it's a "knock", expect him to be sold next week.
If it's an actual knock, expect him to be out for 5 months.

Fessi wasn't necessarily wrong, but Grimes I agree hasn't happened. Regardless he's proven he's got a good inside track.
