Oscar Garcia - New Watford Head Coach

Sky and WO both reporting it's Garcia.

Let the moaning, lauding, ******* and cheering begin.

Turned down the filth as well, hero status already achieved IMO.

Best appointment we could have made at this time.

Will demand respect without being a nutter. Let's be honest...with our squad, he won't exactly need to move mountains.

Think this is a good appointment, however if we lose to Charlton we should immediately seek a replacement

So, we go from having an inexperienced coach > greatly experienced > a big swing back to an inexperienced coach again. A rather curious appointment.

I don't think Garcia is remotely 'inexperienced'.

Good luck Oscar - I really hope this works out for us all.... Now, get down to the training ground and sort out the wheat from the chaff. See you at Charlton!

It will be interesting to see whether there are any further changes to the coaching staff - be good to get Gibbsy in me thinks.

Best of a bad bunch ( assuming Guidolin didnt want it ).

I believe Sannino would have a better chance of getting us promoted

Could be a very good fit indeed. A thoughtful coach with a good philosophy, well-connected, two good seasons of management behind him.

Other clubs wanted him too, which can't be a bad sign.

I'm meant to be speaking to Gary Johnson later so I'm planning to ask for his thoughts about him.

Not sure the guy is any better than Sannino. Hope i'm wrong, but definitely not excited by it.

However, it appears to have greatly f**ked off Leeds fans, so he has my backing.

Lets hope he doesnt change too much in terms of playing style.

Brighton fans say he likes to play the ball out of defence and slowly build attacks.

Nearly all of our goals this season have come from either swift counter attack or from a very quick turnover after winning the ball in midfield.

If he tries to change this I fear we will return to the turgid , slow approach play that described Zolas second season in charge, and along with the inability to defend diagonal balls behind the wingbacks, led to his and Watfords downfall.

Im hoping the only reason Garcia played this way at Brighton was because of limited resources.

Time for a Carlos cartoon/someone to make up a suitable song.

He's been decent enough at Brighton and Maccabi, can't judge till we've seen him in action! I think he won't alter the playing style at all.

Any sensible coach will play to the strengths of his side while improving the weak points.

Personally, I think the notion of Garcia wanting to 'strangle' the likes of Fessi, Vydra, Deeney, Abdi etc to be far-fetched. I'm sure he'll revel at the attacking squad at his disposal.

    Oscar Garcia appointed as Watford

The Watford Observer can confirm the Hornets have reached an agreement with Oscar Garcia for the Spaniard to become their new head coach and it will be announced later today.

The Golden Boys had been in talks with three candidates over the weekend but Garcia was their number one target.

However, they faced competition from Leeds United and we were told another Spanish club were also interested.

But Garcia has agreed to join Watford and will be unveiled as the club’s new boss imminently.

The 41-year-old will be flying to England around midday and will meet club officials early this afternoon.

The Watford players are due in training this afternoon so Garcia is expected to meet the squad later today.

Just seen Keith Andrews speaking on Sky Sports News. He says Saninno and Garcia are polar opposites. A bit like these two:

If true then good luck to the bloke. Anybody Barcelona felt was good enough, has won titles and has got an ordinary Brighton side in to the play offs is good enough for me.
