Presumably he has an iron tool. This has probably been overtaken as I wade through the excessive amount of activity on this thread over the last 24 hours.
hb1. You are a very valuable member of these forums. Sometimes you make a rod for your own back by being over-sensitive. Sometimes your posts are very good. Sometimes they're wacky. I'll call it as I see it. I won't gang up on you. If others do, then I'll have your back. After the Manure I set you up with a way to protect yourself but you had a go at me instead without recognising that. A mistake. If others do gang up on you then that's more a comment on them. You're getting to know all the nuances of the english language. Some of the others on here have yet to discover them as well ...
I thought he learned to speak Catalan not Spanish which wouldn't have gone down very well with the Barca public ?
English is the international lingua franca. That's why we're not the best at learning others. Nothing to do with arrogance ...
Surely if he learned to speak Catalan, rather than Castillian Spanish, that would have gone down very well with the Barca public? Edit. OK. You're agreeing I think.
Godfather's been about a bit too. I expect he speaks loads of foreign languages, particularly in tricky dating situations
I don't particularly care that he doesn't speak English, it would make his job a bit easier but that's up to him. I don't think it should be a major factor in whether we keep him or not. I do find his attempts to pretend he can speak English better than he can quite amusing though. It seemed obvious from the NBC series that he can't speak anything more than the most basic English. He tried to stay away from the camera as much as possible but there were a few sections that stood out: One was on the training field where he was clearly conducting a shooting drill in Italian, and another one was in the tunnel when he told Success that he would be a sub. He said "You... bench" and Success said something back to him and there was an awkward pause and he just repeated "You... bench" again. They also showed him steaming into the dressing room at half time vs West Brom and going ballistic in Italian. Which made me wonder, does the translator just translate it all calmly or does he shout too? If it was me, I think I'd get in character and rant and rave just like Mazzarri but not sure how well that would go down...
Ha ha And I forgot to put the upside down question mark before asking HB if he would rather be referred to in the formal (Usted).
I'm very much looking forward to the full, Spanish reply to this, which I'm sure won't be long in coming...........
WTF, I know I'm late to this but this is a groundbreaking unmasking, HB1 is Spanish!??!!!?!?! I would imagine literally not one of us had any idea that was the case. It does make more sense of some of HB's choice of phrasing; I always assumed he was just being purposefully pompous.
No, you're wrong. He is Spanish and he could prove it by replying in perfect Spanish/Catalan, he just doesn't want to. And why should he? He doesn't have to prove himself to you, me or anyone else here. After all, it's not like he's got any credibility to lose is it?
HB1's English is so good that he fooled us all. But maybe this disguised a cultural difference which has come out in what many of us think to be over-aggressive posts. From my few visits to Catalunya I have the impression that the Catalans don't go for charm as the Italians and (in a very different way) the Danes do. They seem to be more of the tell-it-as-I-see it school, like Germans or Yorkshire folk. So maybe when HB1 seems to be trying to be offensive he's just communicating in a way that other Catalans would think perfectly normal. Am I right, HB1 (f you're still out there)?
Bamboleo are Cuban, not Spanish. Interestingly Haila (on the right in the photo) was a pupil in the school class my mother-in-law used to teach.
I was thinking more of this
I knew. He mentioned it on here a while back.. but then it was a number of years ago and easy not to have noticed it in among 9000 and odd posts. Anyway i see he hasnt been back since this latest dissection of his postings. I hope that's not permanent. Even though i havent always agreed with his opinions he is one of the better contributor's on here i'd say.
This is the man being lined up to replace Mazzari https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eusebio_Di_Francesco
Not overly impressed. An overall win percentage of only 37% in his native Italy - sacked two or three times - an improvement on Maz - not sure at all.
I'd definitely take him. He got Sassuolo promoted, and then up into the Europa League spots, playing attacking football and developing youngsters with a limited budget.
