I heard a rumour today that the Pozzos have already decided not only to replace Mazzarri but that they have his replacement lined up. Apparently he will go after the last match of the season -only before that if results turn really bad. I do not usually listen to this type of unfounded rumour as it is too easy to make up. Has anybody else heard this and can they confirm whether or not it is just another fake fact?
If you're referring to a post on the WO website from a bloke that's supposedly in the know with no basis and which has been repeated many times by the daft f@ckwits on enjoy the game then yes, I have heard the same rumour
I don't know where it came from - was told to me and I doubted it - could not think how any such information would be allowed to leak
They are improving. It was 0-8 against Ipswich, tonight it was only 1-7. Two goal swing, going in the right direction.
The Pozzos moved heaven and Earth to finally get Mazzarri, and assuming we stay up relatively comfortably which still looks statistically the most likely way our season will end, I cannot see they will replace him in the summer. (Though I wish they would)
I hope (and expect) this is a load of old piffle. If not, I would be very disappointed that an organisation as knowledgeable about football as the Pozzo family had allowed themselves to be swayed by what some might see as the bleats and grizzling of a bunch of what some might consider spoiled and overly-demanding ignoramuses. People complain these days about player power. For me, much worse is the lamentable 'fan power'. The baying of the mob. Couple of defeats and someone MUST be to blame. Someone MUST pay the price. And for that reason.....You're FIRED! It's the obnoxious 21st century management style brought into sport. It's sickening really. We're mid-table in the Premiership and still some might consider that there are some who are less satisfied than the blacksmith's wife. Seems to me that some might ponder whether there are some who don't know how to take a defeat, any defeat at all, gracefully these days.
He built an absolutely brilliant Napoli side which kept the ball, played a fast passing game out from the back using wing backs, with a rock solid midfield of Behrami and Inler and Hamsik providing the magic... so you can see why Gino wanted him Unfortunately no one has any clue what he is trying to do with us
Where did we finish last season and what happened to that coach? If you apply the same rules, then he's almost certain to go at the end of the season, as he would have achieved even less with a better squad.
He also built a crap one at Inter and a crap one at Watford.....so he's 2-1 down right now I would say.
It's not true...for now! No inside info, but my footie agent mate hasn't heard anything - and football agents are normally the first to work out if a manager is going and who is likely to be the replacement!
Wasn't at Inter long enough to build anything, did he even get a window? Also built a decent Sampdoria side, so 2-1 up if that's the game I'm not defending him.. just saying
I will be starting a rumour regarding the man to replace Mazzarri. If all goes to plan and the gullible morons in our fanbase believe it and spread it then you should all have heard about it by this time next week.
What I want to know is who will be replacing the man who replaces Mazzarri? Who will we be getting for 2018-2019?
Working out how many of our inferior players he needs to get shot of in the summer. I suspect his list is growing.
Walter was appointed by Inter on May 24th, 2013, and was relieved of his duties on November 14th, 2014, including at one point signing a year's contract extension, so yes, he very much did get a window; in fact, he got 3, 2 of which were Summers.
Have you seen the picture accompanying the headline on the official site's homepage? A bunch of our U23s laughing with the scoreline underneath! It doesn't look like a picture from the actual match, but even so...
We must change our manager. If nothing else it gives pundits something they can mention multiple times when they discuss Watford.
Walter is going nowhere except hopefully to his English lessons. He will be in charge next season with some new players and returning currently injured playmakers, and speaking confident English to build a relationship with the media and fans .... Next season is going to see exciting football with many more shots on target and goals. You heard it here (on this thread) first
Yeah Kewell is clearly not good enough, they lost to coventry or someone like that the other week 8-0
Even if Walter went, would the alternative be any better? I imagine not. A squad overhaul is needed in the Summer, and if anyone knows who needs to go to start moving forward it's Walter. I imagine we'll sign 6 or 7 players over the Summer, we'll see about the same leave and hopefully a fully fit Amrabat, Success and Preyera returning. Hopefully a win against Palace will all but put anyone's mind at ease about survival this season, we can then start looking towards next season and working out what we need to do to push for a Europa place.
Considering most of our top youngsters are on loan elsewhere, we probably just have gaping holes in our talent pool. Top sides sometimes bring in players to fill these gaps, but we are clearly not doing so. We probably have a very young team with a few very-bad players. If they are going up against players who are far ahead in terms of age and physicality, they don't really stand a chance.
By a friend whom I meet up with from time to time and has previously been quite accurate when telling me things like this. Almost exactly a year ago he said the same about QSF - I did not believe that either at the time. It is easy though to make up rumours like this as if they prove right you think blimey they knew and if they don't happen you tend to forget it. The only reason I posted it here was to see if this was "common knowledge" amongst people with contacts inside the game. From the posts on here though nobody is confirming it so it sounds completely false. To be fair to my friend I know he believed it and was not just winding me up even though he is a gooner.
I'm amazed more PL teams don't give chances to some of the brilliant German managers that are around at the moment. Roger Schmidt (who is now available after getting sacked from Leverkusen the other day) would be a great shout imo.
