The period where he scored two goals per game for five consecutive starts is the greatest spell of goalscoring we'll ever see. His top five goals for us would be a pretty impressive list too. Off the top of my head: 1. Leicester volley 2. Brighton run from deep 3. Leeds counter attack 4. Brentford thunderbolt 5. Millwall volley Basically, I want him back.
It may be that we loan with a view to a purchase at the end of the season. The purchase would obviously depend on promotion or making significant cash in the transfer market in the summer e.g Sarr. Sounds like it depends on whether Burnley find a replacement
Oh the dangling Vydra carrot. This should thoroughly fook everyone off as nothing will come of it come the end of the window. If it's true that he wants to play games to gain a squad place at the Euros in the Summer then it could possibly happen. But can't understand why Burnley would allow a player out of contract in the summer to go on loan. In all reality he should of never left and I'm not even sure he'd want to co e after the way the club treated him.
Vydra's contract runs out on 30 June 2022, according to Transfermarkt. Matej Vydra - Player profile 20/21 | Transfermarkt
I cannot wait for more "Is that Vydra in the background games." I hope Ben Foster picks up on this for his Cycling GK channel. My hopes aren't high however but I can dream.
Get him in Same as with the Fessi link in the summer... football is joyless and boring right now, we could all do with a lift
Nothing but a typical Gino smokescreen! Look at you COG’s lapping up anything Gino leaks to media. All so you can clap, wave your flags at the end of the window and say at least he “tried.” You lot make me sick!! We’re not in for him at all, this transfer will never ever happen. We won’t sign anyone! We’re 11 10 days out from the window closing. Gino knows he can feed you lot enough BS to get through the next week and a half so that you all think we’re making moves. Fully expect this story to be written up at the end of the window by “ITK” Leventhal stating, we just couldn’t get it over line and ran out of time etc.
The article says we asked Burnley about him earlier this month. Xisco giving his backing to Gray and Troy starting to look like he can play football again means we probably haven't pursued it any further.
If we swapped him for Gray both clubs would end up better off financially. Burnley would get an asset instead of losing vydra for free in the summer and we'd get Gray's wages off our books. Both players are probably worth £5-7 million right now. Obviously Gray's wages could be an issue.
Make it happen! Bring him home. I've got no idea why Burnley signed him in the first place. He's basically everything that they are not.
If Xisco thinks Troy and Gray is a good partnership he should look at some old videos of Troy setting up goals for Vydra (he needn't study those of Vydra setting up Troy)
You're relying on Burnley taking Gray in that scenario, if I were them I wouldn't be touching him with a bargepole.
If it happens , and it is a big if, then short term this is great for us . However should we get promoted I don't think MV will set the Prem alight . But who knows ?
People remember Vydra’s purple patch, which was much shorter than Ighalo’s, and it makes them think he’s much better than he actually is. He is of course better than Gray however.
This is kind of a dumb thing to say considering how he performed for Derby in a completely different period over a whole season.
But I could counter that by saying he scored just 3 goals in 31 league games in his season on loan at Reading and 5 in 37 in his first season at Derby. Just to be clear, I’m not arguing that he’s no good or that having him wouldn’t be a benefit for the rest of the season. Let’s say that, at best, he’s a bit of a streaky player and not a world beater.
