Really? Admittedly I haven't watched a Vydra game for years but it was decent two and half years ago at Derby and it was never an issue with us.
If Vydra was on the team sheet instead of Gray each game this season, we’d have 3/4 points more already
Tend to agree, but I believe that we need someone to come in to help score goals. A move here may give Vydra a new lease of life and a chance to get back some momentum. Look at Dawson at West Ham.
I have heard from someone that knows someone in the club, who really should know that yes enquiries have been made. They have told me stuff before that checks out.
The Burnley reporter for The Athletic said we had asked about him earlier this month. My guess is Burnley then left Gino stunned when they asked for money in exchange for Vydra. Therefore we can close this one off.
They said 'he could be available but we need a striker in the door first' - when Gino mentioned taking over Murray's loan or Andre Gray, they promptly hung up and blocked Gino's number. The above is a joke. But likewise, could actually have happened.
Vydra would increase our chances of automatic promotion from 10% to about 60%. It should be a no-brainer.
Came off the bench for Burnley with 15 minutes left when they were 2-1 down and they ended up winning 3-2 with Vydra playing a key role in the winner. Seems unlikely they'll let him leave unless someone makes a decent offer, which won't be us.
Because Quique Sánchez Flores and Walter Mazzarri did not rate Matej Vydra. And look at where they are now: both are out of work!
Just spotted a blond man of about Vydra's height in Watford Town Centre. When I shouted "Matej! Is that you?" he ran off. Make of that what you will.
Don’t Burnley have a load of players out of contract in the summer? Can’t we do what the banks did to cause the financial crisis, bundle up a load of our **** players and sell them to Burnley as a Collatorised Donkey Obligation?
No need for that, even simpler, we can just get the subreddit (r/Watford_FC ) to explode the market and bring Burnley down altogether.
You’d assume in the alternate reality where we sign Vydra, he’d want some sort of guarantee that he’d start or get x amount of minutes, which would be no bad thing. It might mean Troy starting at LB and Andre in goal, though.
Typical Watford - probably could have got him in the summer but sat it out and choose to show our interest when he starts getting minutes and playing well for his club.
Even last season, when we were relegated, it doesn't really seem like Gino et al managed to do/demonstrate what they have done in this, which is to go from 'legendary Pozzo scouting system' to 'very doubtful their basic scouting system is effective at all on a fundamental level, even to the point of doing their due diligence on players'.
‘Learnt from our mistakes.’ Utter nonsense. Lies. That have been swallowed by enough fans for it to continue and the owner/chairman to reasonably think ‘they’ve bought it’.
Recruitment is and has been the major problem. I love Sarr as a player but at that time he wasn't what was needed. The time and effort plus money spent was badly needed elsewhere. Javi didn't even play with wingers.
Ultimate priority has always been and always should’ve been a competent goalscorer once it was obvious Gray wasn’t up to it. Instead we just doubled down on the error, scored our fewest number of goals in our five years in the PL last season and subsequently got relegated. This season we’re in the worst championship for years due to Covid and ffp finally sinking in, we’re somehow second but our main strikers have scored 3 goals from open play between them, an absolutely shameful return. Decent striker last season = stay up Decent striker this season = get promoted
