Is Marco Silva all that?

Doesn't the article say that Silva can only go if Gino agrees as there is no out clause until end of the season.

Can't see that happening, so the only issue is whether Silva will strop or get in with the job at hand . He'd be a fool to do that as it would ruin his reputation.

Everton fans don't seem too thrilled about silva. Questioning the character of a man who would ditch a team at the first sniff of a better offer. And noting that his teams can't defend, which is exactly Everton's biggest problem.

I think he's as good as gone though. Oh well

I agree. If he doesn't come out and publicly tell them to shove off by close of play tomorrow he's a gonner.

I get why it must be a temptation, lets face it most of us would have our heads turned if somebody came and offered us a significant increase in wages from a bigger company and said you will have a huge budget because you will be responsible for a turn around. If you pull that off it gives you a CV difficult to turn down afterwards, that is hard to walk away from.

That said we have seen a season and half (two seasons if it hadn't been for the Ighalo months of wonder) of complete dross which has been difficult to watch. Similar points now to last season but what a difference in entertainment, for that reason I hope he stays with us for the season at least so we can all have a little joy back in our lives.

All this stinks to be honest. Clearly tapped him up and no doubt around when we played them. Which is wrong on so many levels. Of course he would want to go there with a big budget and big fan base. I dont think it would take much to get them top half this season. Outside top 6 anyone could finish top half or get relegated.
If he wants to go let him. However he would be risking his reputation which he will see as worth the risk IMO. Its no secret he was annoyed in transfer window and his spat with Okaka I am sure hasn't gone down well. Yes we are better than last year, yes its more exciting but we still cant defend and over the season this will cost us. We also struggle to break down a team who sits back.
Would be annoyed if he went but after 11 games he has achieved nothing yet other than a good start.
If he went, unpopular but I would have Big Sam until the summer to steady the ship and assure we dont let Silva leaving be the catalyst for a real struggle.

Wow, if this is all true, I never expected him to be such a ****... Not only is he leaving us after 11 games, but he is also leaving a squad who he has built a relation with as well as just giving us a middle finger over the comment of "I will always stick to my contract".

IF he leaves, we are probably going to struggle and it would be heartbreaking if we get relegated because some d*ck head of a manager was lured over to another club, because he wanted an extra few thousand in his bank on a weekly basis - greedy baśtard

Even if he doesn't leave, he will have a lot of explaining to do to both the players and the fans on Saturday - which will inevitably be a loss now

I'm just hoping that all of this is a load of cr@p made up by the media in attempt to give us the 'bad side' of the limelight - like they always try to do with us (I.e the HSBC Letter, Deeney incident and the manager sacking). That said, surely the club or Silva would have come forward by now stating these accusations are false?

Oh well, Watford truly isn't Watford if it doesn't make you feel depressed occasionally and this is a real downer

He may go but who knows. What i thought is that the signings we made in Richarlison and Chalobah and maybe Gray did not rely on Marco bring here. Sure he has got us playing more attractive football than last season but that wouldn't be hard and at this point we have the same number of points as last season after the same games.

Gino and us expect more loyalty from a guy who has promise but has not achieved anything after 11 games. I think the transfer window was better for us than last year but its early days. I remain confident that Gino will either ride this out and stick with him or has the succession plan already lined up as any good businessman would have.

Our model does not rely on one guy and lets be honest if any one was really successful here they would be gone the next season

Easy there. Pozzo always has a plan in place

Saying that though, if we struggle and get relegated, it would be because we hired a **** replacement when Silva left, and not because Silva left.

People move on all the time in football, and any club worth its salt like ours will have firm contingency plans in place should their manager up and leave.

The whole model is built to allow things like this to happen - if it does happen I trust them to use the compensation wisely and get a good replacement.

If the Pozzos were off I would be worried

Why is everyone getting so mad. Nothing has happened yet. It’s all media talk.

If reports are to be believed, which let’s be serious, is highly unlikely. We, as well as other clubs are signing about 100 players every transfer window according their sources, so I doubt this Silva story is true.

However let’s entertain it and say it’s true, Watford have rejected Everton’s approach and will not let Silva talk to them, so Watford consider the matter closed. So there is nothing to worry about. The Pozzo’s aren’t stupid and won’t risk losing him mid season. Watford are not a poor club so we don’t need the money, hence why Deeney is still with us. We valued him at £30mil and that was it, every other offer was turned down. So unless Everton want to pay us £50mil+ for Silva, he isn’t going anywhere, regardless if Silva wants to go or not.

This story is everywhere now , BBC ,Telegraph etc so would seem to be substantiated.

Anyone here know much about managers contracts ? If there is no out clause until summer, can Gino stop Silva from leaving even if he wants to ?

Why would he have any loyalty at all for us? He's been here five minutes. It's not like he was born in the bloody town or has a wife who owns a flower shop on Market Street.

He jumped from Hull at the first chance so it wouldn't be a surprise.

As for Richarlison, he specifically said that Silva convinced him to join us so that one was down to him.

And just like with any player who wants to leave and isn't allowed, their motivation drops to pretty much zero hence why most players get their way.

I equate it to what happens when I'm forced to work late. I'll do it but you ain't getting 100% of me and I'll consistently call whoever's responsible a ****.

This is just like when Deeney went to Leicester, because they were a bigger club and he wanted Champions League, just like all the experts here said he would.

Why can't we ever hold onto anyone?

Hm...rather hope he doesn't go but might think it saves being sacked in 6 months!

Be under big pressure at Everton for instant results and "success" and probably isn't the big name they want.

I think that is the trouble though... He is leaving us after 11 games... There are so few managers around to pick from that will actually accept a job at Watford... The fact that West Ham have resorted to Moyes and Everton resorting to stealing managers from other Prem teams shows the struggle.

It seems we will have to be forced to stealing from another club too unless we go for bloody Mazzarri again...

*Maybe go in for Koeman or Bilic anyone?

True but he will be ruining his reputation at the same time if he puts his parts on. It will also make Everton fans uneasy about having him in charge if he does because clearly he will do the same thing to them. Let’s say he leaves us, gets Everton to finish 6/7th in May, he will bounce in the summer to a bigger club than them.

I’m not that attached to him as a manager, and the last three games have got me feeling very worried about the defensive side of our game. If he goes then it will damage his reputation, not ours.

I believe in the Pozzos, I don’t believe in Silva. If he goes it will be because Gino thinks we can get through it without him, and I trust Gino and Scott implicitly at this point. That have not done much wrong so far.

    Keep the faith people.

Talking of which, let’s get him back. He’s effectively won the League up there already this season - he could rope in his deputy to manage Celtic for the rest of the season on a sort of jobshare basis and then move to us full time next season.

I don't know what they are going to be offering him, but to me, it seems ridiculous how anyone cannot be happy with anything over £10,000 a week - hence why I said it is greed

So ditching a club in 11 games shouldnt be warranted with at least an apology for not sticking by his contract/ promises?

    My bad, I didn't check

Media conspiracy? I mean, it could be a load of cr*p (which i did mention), but it's Watford FC and surely i've a right to comment my opinion regarding the situation (even if my opinion is worthless)

I think we're well past that stage. They've obviously been talking to him, and he's obviously told them he'd like their job, otherwise this whole thing would have died down a few weeks ago.

A lot has happened over the last few days that hasn't been reported yet, I'm sure. The bookies certainly got wind of it.

Whatever the outcome of this, I think Everton have behaved disgracefully by going after a coach that is so new in his job.

It's just not something they should be doing. There are plenty of good managers out of work. They have made their own mess by sacking their manager and they should not be unsettling other clubs because of it.
