What are the words to the little ditty I hear being sung about Ikechi Anya? It sounds catchy, but apart from the opening words of his name, its just incomprehensible noise. Can anyone enlighten me? For the record, I quite like him, although he is a rather infuriating player to watch.

I think the song for Anya goes like this:

Anya, he's playing in a position with which he's having to adapt,
So we fans won't give him time or space, we already know he's crap.
If every cross isn't inch perfect, if he doesn't beat his man,
We'll hound him out of Watford like a studious woman by the Taliban.

To the tune of One Week by the Barenaked ladies.

I've thought for a while that the Itchy and Scratchy tune from the Simpsons would be quite good - "The Ikechi Anya show..."

He's definitely worth keeping on next season in my opinion, he's a good option to have and I'd like to think he'll improve further.

He has steadily improved as the season has gone on,just needs to whip them balls in earlier, but he is a quality player and loads of energy and pace.

He's got better and better. Still room for improvement, but he put in an excellent performance tonight/last night.

I watched the game with a couple of neutrals who were amazed by him and were bitterly disappointed he was taken off. Hogg also deserves recognition. Fantastic form he is in. Did everything but score.

Good first touch, good pace, beat his man, more crosses than usual, improving every game and a great all round performance
    - good to see after the stick he often gets on this forum

Anybody else growing to love him?

Someone I genuinely want to see play every week and when he starts bombing it down the wing it gives me tingles!

Glad to see him cutting inside and shooting a bit yesterday, that said it was only twice but he picked his moments well and nearly nicked a goal both times but for good saves.

Without a doubt my favourite player.

I was telling my Scottish mate how good Anya can be. If he does the business for them, they'll be a much better team.

He's developing into a really good player. I must admit I had my doubts at first (especially with his having failed at a couple of 4th div clubs), but he's just kept improving. I think Zola and the team must have something to do with that. His speed is amazing and he had the beating of Cohen all day yesterday. It also helps with him getting back to cover when the opposition breaks and makes him ideal for the WB role.

About the only minor tiny criticism is his crossing accuracy and shooting power. If he can sort that out, he'll be as good a wide player as any currently playing in England.

He's a player who'd have been our "star" easily in any of the past few seasons. He is very important to us and offers a consistent attacking threat.

I really like Anya. His consistency is very high, he makes opposition defenders brick it with his pace, and he draws fouls. The number of players who end up on yellows because they can't deal with his speed is a big advantage.

He was unlucky not to score yesterday, and only a smart save kept him off the scoresheet.

He's a very honest pro and gives 100% every game; that's enough of a reason to love him right there.

As mentioned, his final ball needs a bit of work, but I've no doubt he's working on that and considering how much the rest of his game has improved, I'm sure he'll nail that too. Lets face it, Zola is a brilliant coach to learn ball skills from.

Whole heartedly agree. Looked a speed merchant at start of last season, if he continues to improve he's gonna be unstoppable.

If the ref had been stronger and booked Cohen for the second foul he made on Anya, he'd (Cohen) have seen Red or been subbed off yesterday. This boy was a contender for MotM yesterday. As for the "we need Chalobah back" contingent I give you Sean Murray, looking lean, fast, fit and wanting to play football....oh and He's one of our own, He's one of our own, that boy Sean Murray, He's one of our own!!

Anya is without doubt the most improved footballer at the club. At the end of last season he was better, but he still wasn't taking on players as much as he could have done. This season he has been driving down the line lots which is exactly what we need. He had a moment yesterday where he took off from the halfway line went past about three players and got a shot away (I think) and he completely humiliated a defender against Bournmouth. He should be a crucial player for us this season.

Was there not an argument that Cohen should have been booked for the first tackle on Anya? I think it would have be given if it wasn't so early in the game

He's one that has impressed and surprised me the most this season. Started off as only a squad player, one you would only really play in the league cup. Has always had bags of pace, but was very one dimensional when he first came to the club.

If you look at Anya's career one thing has stood out and that's his desire to succeed. He's had to wait a long time until getting under the wing of Zola before he's really blossomed into a very good player. Now he looks the part adding great ball control, intelligence, consistency and shooting to his pace and direct running.

Only Deeney could really challenge Anya for the most improved player at the club award. I think he's going to end up being a very special player for us.

I only wish we'd have offered him a longer contract. If he continues this rate of improvement, he'll be the greatest player the universe has ever seen by the time his 3-year deal is up.

The term role model is usually reserved in football to lambast someone who sets a bad example. In Ikechi's case he should be used by the FA as a case study in what extreme determination and endevour can do for you. A humble character with a massive team ethic, football would be a better place for more players of his kind. The perfect of example of someone who has harnessed considerable talent through desire to succeed.

Was chatting to a couple of people in the Oxford United youth set up a few weeks ago. V pleased for him but amazed at how he has developed. Mind you they were looking for bulky muscly hard men at the time - pace and ball skills were lower down the wish list.
