If We Lose To Luton And Our Best Players Are Sidelined....

Genuine question, what do you mean by "move more quickly"? Does that mean sell the players we need to move on to balance the books more quickly? The only way to do this would be accept lower-than-value bids for Sarr/Suarez/Capoue etc which already pissed off HB1 when we apparently did that with Doucoure?

Or move more quickly in terms of recruitment? In which case I think it would be silly to spend £5m+ and wages on a player to improve our XI, if we don't manage to get shot of Deeney/Pereyra/Welbeck etc. That would, I think, put us in a very precarious position. No point spending a huge chunk on Grimes if we end up keeping Capoue and Hughes.

We have 3 matches to get through until the window closes. The theories may be correct about Sarr, Suarez, Capoue, Welbeck, Pereyra and Deeney in that we're not playing them because we're open to selling them, and they may get injured like Masina and Navarro. If that's the case they seem to be banking on Ivic doing enough with a smaller squad until 16th October. So far that's paying off with a win and a draw and no goals conceded. As a fan I'd be making all our best players available for selection but I can understand Gino's more risk-averse approach, if it's actually the case.

I think it's also possible that some players have genuinely downed tools. Ngakia's interview about players taking training seriously, and Ivic's comments about wanting committed players suggests this may be true. It's also possible that Sarr and Suarez are happy enough to stay, and were genuinely unavailable through lack of fitness/covid/quarantine. We don't know for sure either way, and I'll be waiting until the end of the window before pressing send on my disgruntled email.

You're all about a year behind me in realising that the club doesn't give 2 sh*ts about the loyal fans. I haven't spent a single penny with them since the cup final, (apart from betting against them). We're on a downward journey that won't be changing anytime soon.

I do actually agree with most the things you raise, but I think personally think a lot of it is a symptom of being a middling PL club. I'm sure most Stoke/Swansea/Sunderland etc. fans would have mentioned the same points in their relegation seasons. Modern football is not great unless you're an elite club, or have a helping hand from agents or mega rich owners (Wolves/Everton). Clubs like Sheffield United & Burnley appear to be run well, but IMO they'll regress to the mean eventually as well - how long that takes I don't know!

Looking at the facts now, it's hard to see where a promotion squad comes from.

We sell all our valuable assets to balance the books and are left with JP and maybe one or two others who might be worth a few bob in the future.

Other than that, the likes of Murray and Garner are not ours, Perica and Sierrelta are worthless. Aside from a nice temporary stand, we're back exactly where we used to be, having to sell a Sordell every season just to break even.

Maybe not the best analogy , but someone kicking up a fuss based largely on twitter rumours , when maybe the club is not poorly run at all
    is a bit embarrassing .

Yep 5 years of premier league revenue and we are back to the start.

Well the accounts aren’t twitter rumours. We had borrowed heavily in the accounts when we were still premier league and had strong cup revenue, Richarlison profit and league merit money so imagine what it will look like in the 2020 accounts and beyond..........I think the next set of accounts are going to paint a very painful picture indeed.

All so they could buy players that we didn't even need, then sell them again to break even.

Also confirms Pereyra and Capoue have handed in transfer requests. Interesting that Leventhal I believe was saying Capoue was seemingly happy enough to stay.

I'll continue to go to the match even if our owners put out 11 smack heads from the Meriden estate.

I have only been on this site for 7 years a lot less than most of you , but have always enjoyed your posts and think you normally manage to add much needed humour to the discussion.

I don’t feel quite as aggrieved as you and believe (hope) that it will all come good by the end of the transfer window , but it is genuinely sad to life long supporters such as you and others become so disenfranchised with the team and owners.

As a community we seem to be falling apart as fast as the team, turning on anybody with different views, the sad thing is that the real problem here is communication from the club , we are either skint , in which case be honest with us we would all rather have a division 1 Watford than no Watford , or there are other problems then let us know why the quality players we have are not playing

be nice to know if somebody from the club ever reads this forum.

If you think every club has to borrow against every revenue stream, every asset and every transfer fee owed even in the good times then it’s pretty pointless conversing with you.

No I don’t of course , but every club is different and I don’t think there’s a formula for how much debt a club should have when attempting to challenge at the top end of the premier league, or what constitutes a well or badly run club. I don’t know and I very much doubt you do either

I think if you're relatively financially restricted as an owner, you have to follow the Burnley/Brentford/Norwich model even when you are in the premier league. Sure if you have a rich owner then run up debts to the owner who is bankrolling you.

What you can't do if you are a tinpot is chuck about long contracts to aging players, splash out on luxury £30m wingers for a coach who doesn't play them and run high operating expenses relative to your peers. Because the balancing figure is external debt which puts the club in jepoardy and that is exactly what Pozzo has done. And that is before we get to the latest accounts (as yet unreleased) which presumably are going to have large payouts to multiple management teams being sacked and lower prize money. And that's before we even get to the relegation accounts (+Covid impact). Doesn't bear thinking about! Make no mistake we are in a mess here.

If you don't know the indications of a club massively financially overreaching it's probably for the best that you don't comment rather than show your ignorance on the subject by arguing that black is white.

If you’re mentioning it then I think ignorance is better described as someone who comments on something as if it is a fact , which in reality they know little to nothing about . But I try to avoid getting personal and throwing insults around on here .

It is fact. The borrowing is in the accounts. If you can’t be bothered to read them then it’s not our problem.

I don’t like getting into these back and forth round in circle things so this will be my last post in this thread . I’ve been accused of laziness and ignorance on here...

So Just to clarify, I have read the accounts and I’m fully aware the club is showing a large external debt balance , I’m not saying this isn’t worrying . At the time of filing we were still in the premier league , debt is extremely cheap At the moment and the cash flow situation looks healthy. Obviously now we’ve been relegated the situation will worsen and there is a need to cut our cloth accordingly . This is business sometimes . I know because I work in an industry that is very volatile, but nowhere near as volatile as football can be.

However , I’m not having a massive meltdown about this or basing these myths about the owners doing all these unforgivable things on this .

My original point on this thread , which has somewhat been lost was that I think most Watford supporters see the bigger picture , are able to rationalise what is happening and I think the owners realise this .
