I'd have taken a point at the start, but now feel gutted to have surrendered to a team we should have battered. The blame is shared between the missed chances, the soft treatment doled out by Atkinson and Javi, whose subs were all poor. First half was great, but second half was as bad as the first was good. Over the 90 it was our worst performance of the season so far. The advantage of playing the same 11 every week is cohesion. The downside is form and the emergence of bad habits. Janmaat has played at least one game too many in a row and was poor today. His positioning, delivery and competitiveness were all lacking. This is the true Janmaat in my eyes and he's not good enough to be our first choice, as I've said many times before. He's a liability with no stomach, as evidenced by Man Utd's 2nd and Mitrovic's goal today. On both occasions he should have done more to put them off, IMO. Pereyra was anonymous and should have been off for Chalobah early in the second half. Success is not subtle, but he came on and got stuck in. Sema didn't touch the ball from memory. Capoue was immense. He won so many challenges from seemingly impossible positions. Doucoure not far behind, but we needed another player in there to tighten up, once Joka had made the switch. Javi was a rabbit in the headlights and his subs were ineffectual, leading directly to the equaliser. Joka played a hand and Javi failed to counter it. Jolebas had one decent delivery in the first half, then a succession of awful ones, before reverting to the short corners which make any fan howl with despair. Gray did much better. He's still a terrible footballer but he did the very best that someone with zero footballing ability could hope for. Feel really annoyed that 2 points were thrown away in such a careless fashion, as it would have been such a huge difference to have won that 3 or 4 nil, as we should have based on 1st half
Muffties getting tanked today by ex Watford manager. Cementing 4th. 1/3 of points total required achieved & already a relegation battle starting to form at the foot of the table.
Important today that we didn't lose, as the likely defeat next week would have seen us on a run of losses that would undermine our decent start. We can't be 10/10 every week, or we'd be one of the 'big 6'. Certainly made enough chances to win it - but had the situation been reversed, I'm sure we'd have felt we'd done enough to get a draw based on the second half. Delighted for Gray. Another goal only increases his confidence, which of course benefits us. Needless to say, under sssssilva we'd have completely folded at the end and lost comfortably. Fulham look a decent side at home - their last league match there saw them smash 4 past Burnley. Looking at Burnley's result today, maybe this game was tougher than we perhaps thought? Won 4, drew 1, lost 1. The excellent start continues as far as I'm concerned.
To all those saying 2 points lost, Why? Just because you score first & early, that does not mean you are entitled to win the game in any way shape or form. Far from it. See Spurs. We had the 1st half, they had the second. A point was fair & it's an away point.
Jamie Rednapp was saying what a good footballer he is, also backed up by other media, your negativity regarding our joint leading goal scorer is getting boring!
Game should have been killed off but Fulham did well to come back into it and earn a deserved point. Still think in the 2nd half if our final ball was better we would have nicked it. We could have been through 1 on 1 on a few occasions. Oh well. Any point away in the prem os decent for us. Reckon we need a couple fresh faces soon though, maybe Chalobah and Femenia to play next game?
We should have scores 3 in the first half at least. Thats why. If you look at the gane overall though you are right.
He'll always be negative towards Gray so wouldn't worry about it m8 sadly there's a few anti Gray merchants lurking in the forum.
What do you mean we should of. We didn't. ...& they didn't take their multiple goal scoring opportunities either, which were closer than ours. We were on the lucky side with the point today.
Capoue seriously impressed me today. Under pressure, up until about 60 minutes in he was doing superbly well passing the ball and maintaining possesion. Of Doucoure (Who like Capoue fatigued after 60 or so minutes) and Capoue, I would drop Doucoure to the bench and start Chalobah there instead as I feel Capoue is more match fit and is having more of a tangible affect on the games whereas Doucoure shows good passing and touches without threatening.
It's great to read all the generally positive comments and not see anyone really moaning about the 1 or 2 red cards. We could literally moan on here all night about how they should have had at least 1 sent off and how we were robbed like other forums would, but we are focusing on the game and the positives. Happy forum!
Yes absoloutly - same as the England game, if your score in first 5 mins need to get another in the first half you are never going to defend a 1-0 lead for 85+ mins
This match reminds me of the 1-1 draw that the Man Utd treble-winning side of 1998/99 managed away at Wimbledon. These inexplicable results happen from time to time. Just got to take it on the chin, I suppose.
I think just before the half hour he killed a high, swirling ball first time and played a useful half volley pass into Hughes all in one move. Amazing what a bit of confidence does for a player.
Having sulked for 3 hours I think our defence was alright (yes really), and I think the attack was all right , I think if Gray gets a goal a game he is alright by me. I think midfield was where it was lost and I think we then tried playing over the midfield and that didn’t really work, resulting in to many interceptions (2nd half) Pereya is a class player , but needs to be bang up for it , I kind of worry he might be this years Rich, great start then looses ability to find the back of the net. I am one of the few that has always liked Janmat , but didn’t think he looked to sharp today I am one of the many that hated Holebas , but although this wasn’t his best game still thinks he has plenty to offer. But and it’s a big but, we still have Challobah, cleverly and deulofeu to come back and make an impact (yes I know challobah was on the bench) Don’t think I would have taken Hughes off, but trust in Javi 6 played , 4 wins, 1draw , 1loss, 4 th in the league with a +5 goal difference On a side note by **** dont Liverpool look good (which is a shame as I hate Liverpool), think we may have to accept w probably can’t keep up with them this year (Man U / spurs / Arsenal no worries)
I hadn’t thought they might be the same person. If so, as impressive as his stamina is his mastery of yoof chat. In fact, even knowing how to post on Instagram.
In other news, can the people who go to away days sitting down not complain about the people standing up? Wanna sit down? Sit at the front or piss off home you noncey barstards. The last thing I want to be hearing is "sit down please, I can't see" at an away game where i'm trying to watch and support the team. Most of the time it's usually the plastics and tourists that do this and it has me feeling like I should grab 'em by the neck and lob em into the home end...
By the way, does anyone what Ken Sema does yet? I know it's only sub appearances but he just looks like he's not particularly good at anything..?
