Not good with numbers because what you quote doesn’t stack up. Let’s say we don’t have a strong set of accounts today and decide to run at a £30m loss this year. That would mean incurring further debt if we can get it. How do we pay that back ? Remember we’ve basically broken even in the prem. ring fence £30m of tv money ? How do we stay up if we don’t strengthen in the prem? So we go back down and have same problem. Remember only 1 in 5 relegated teams finish top 2. How many small clubs relegated over the last 20 years are the prem now ? Less than are in League 2. I don’t mean to insult you, sorry, but any argument that says “£40m now or £135m tv money” is massively over simplifying. I think realistically there is far more chance of us being in administration in 3 years time than in the prem so I’m glad to see Pozzos cutting costs and selling high price players. When we go back up, if, we can add expensive players again then.

Cheating *********r no less, also always amazed me that he basically didn't celebrate any goal unless he scored it.

Surprisingly likeable for someone with so many unpleasant traits.

FYI - those calling him ‘racist’ should be very careful about posting such comments on a public forum

He was found not guilty in a court of law

Tidied up the thread a little, less of the explicit racism accusations as per IRB's post.

It's very easy, you pay it back when you get promoted and back yourself to go up this season and give yourself the best chance to do that. It's the only way to get good money into the club. Right now we have the players to get promoted. I've always said we have to run as a Premier League club for this season only.

We don't need to pay off all debt today. If we fail to go up, we restructure ourselves then. We'll have to. But this is our opportunity. You don't improve by selling all your best players and replacing them with journeymen lower level pros as what appears to be the case.

We are losing just £50m and placement money over next season. This debt can easily be serviced by selling a few choice players, but also taking a bit of a chance. We have to do that. I think this is the issue some fans are having. They are worried about taking a bit of a gamble.

If don't see it as an issue. We still have very good players we can sell, like Sarr and Deulofeu. We can also sell Suarez and Estupinan, Ngakia after they've shown what they can do in the Championship for big money. We have a lot of talent at the club who will clear any debt we may have right now.

So you can insult my understanding of finances all you like, but I just have a different point of view to you, and I wont insult you because of it either.

I wonder if he was wearing his WFC shin pads.

    But seriously........Fessi.......

On an emotional level, I'd love it, as I think most fans loved him when he was with us, but we let him go for a reason. Is he a better player now then he was before?

It looks like another signing where we'll be saying "he's a good squad option or backup player".

Cynically, this maybe just another of those signings to please the fans. Throw them a hero to keep them happy.

    Ooh this is getting exciting!
Football should be about enjoyment first and foremost, and while I may be looking back through rose-tinted spectacles, I feel like I always enjoyed watching Fessi more than any other player in that era.

He does genuinely care for the club though. Could do with a few more of them around the place.

It's a tricky one. He really progressed into a fantastic goalscorer for a few seasons at Sheff Weds, then totally fell away because of injuries and the like. Hopefully, at 30, he's mature enough to realise that he's not got many years left and he could really achieve something...as long as his knees aren't gone.

I'm more surprised we've not tried to nab Vydra on loan...doesn't get a game at Burnley does he? Ultimate striker for any Championship side.

Is it really such a bad thing
Is that such a bad thing though? Yes we all want the team to perform well on the pitch but being a fan of the club is so much more than that. Having players around that entertain and put a smile on the face regardless of potency is part and parcel of the enjoyment for me.

We've had the likes of Esutace, Hoban, Mariappa, Gomes, Doyley on the books long after their effectiveness on the pitch was guaranteed and if Fessi can keep the kids happy, and provide fans with a fuzzy feeling inside then he could do a similar role. Imagine bringing him on when we're 4-0 up against Luton to seal promotion in April. Worth signing just for the dream.

Not sure I can get behind this.

Set aside the racism incident, of which he was not convicted - but didn't exactly behave well during, if I recall.

He's 30, has played less than 50% of matches for three years in a row, and hasn't been the same since his major injury in 2017-2018.

Our fans seem more excited at the idea of a beloved player coming home than the actual quality of the player.

If he's not at the same level as before then it tarnishes his reputation.

I remember once we had the opportunity to sign Mo Johnston at the end of his career. He was not the same player, and Glenn Roeder said he could have taken him but it would have not been good for the Watford fans who remembered a totally different player. (or something along those lines).

It will give the fans a boost, but if he's not quite the same, it will be short lived.......that's my concern.

Having said that, I'd like to see him back at Watford, but I'm not convinced it's the right call.

When all is said and done, watching Watford was always more fun when Forestieri was in the starting line up

Others might not agree, but for me, thats a big part of what it means to be enjoy being a fan of a team which is not going to win top level leagues or major trophies any time soon

I actually went to a Sheffield Wednesday match at MK Dons just to watch him. In hindsight I'm not sure it was worth it, but still, I think that shows how much I loved the little fella.

I'd like to see him back at the club, but I'd hope he's a backup/rotation player. Our starting line-up needs to be stronger than that.

That's fair. I'm almost want us to sign him but barely play him for that reason, the sort of player you only bring on when you're a few goals up for sentimentality rather than because you need them to change the game. As I say, I'm really not against that sort of signing if their a net positive to the club (rather than just the team) but such players need to be considered as ambassadors rather than regulars. If he ended up playing 15-20 games and didn't perform would definitely tarnish his rapport with the fanbase.

One of my favourite Watford players ever. On his day he was unplayable , very entertaining to watch and had the talent to grace a much bigger stage .

However , as others have said , is he the player he was ? If he is would certainly be a great squad option who can always pop up with a bit of quality.

Not that he ever left the club, but we see this with Deeney, was incredible for us a few years ago, but has declined so much that many fans are starting to turn on him and can't wait to see him leave

Did he though? Brilliant player in the Championship no doubt, but while Deeney and Vydra were always linked with a move to the Prem when we were in the Championship (and ended up having a mixed time in the top flight), I don't remember Fessi ever really catching anyone's eye, and when we did go up, we saw him as dispensible

That just makes me sad, even if Forestieri comes back good as new (unlikely I know) we #pisstheleague, we won't see scenes like that for a long time with all that's happening in the world
