I have just read that Sean Taylor has died from his wounds from that bungled burglary. This happens far too much.

No chance. Of the bet I mean. As Fitz would say Im far too bad at prognosticating to put my money where my sizeable mouth is.

Now NHL, theres an American sport worth watching. Go Ducks Go!

The game went as I thought it would go, but not as I'd hoped it would go.

I didn't see it since I was being wined and dined by a vendor to my company, so I'll have to take solace in the fact that I got drunk for free and ate until I was stuffed, then ate some strawberry cheesecake before going home.

Just finished watching my recording. Packers would have won were it not for some horrendous refereeing decisions and defensive mistakes.

What is amusing is that everyone in the UK had the chance to watch it, yet hardly anyone in the US would have been able to. And not only is the NFL Network unfair on the American public, the commentry is absolute dross.

    Really..?
As I said, I was in a crowded loud restaurant so I couldn't hear the commentary. Also, hadn't realized Favre was hurt, and also didn't know it was ONLY on NFL network. Good for the NFL network to get exclusive coverage rights to such an interesting and looked forward to game (is that a valid sentence construction?).

Aaron Rogers was the replacement for the Legendary Brett Favre. He was the QB for the California Golden Bears for a few years. When he got drafted by the Packers, I ASSUMED FOOLISHLY that Favre would be retiring soon. I've gone from wishing he'd retire so I can see Rogers play (and he'll be great) to really appreciating Favre in what may be his last season.

I have an Aaron Rogers Cal jersey in my dresser. Go Bears!

Aaron Rodgers is average to the max!

That's not what they are saying in Dallas...Impressive is the word they chose.

Still, with all of 60 maybe career snaps, how can you tell?

    He outscored Tony Romo 17-10...

You can't judge a man on two quarters of football, sir. And he has well bad hair, innit?

  11. Fitz

    In one half of play:
PASSING ATT CP YDS SK/YD TD LG IN
    A.Rodgers 26 18 201 3/24 1 43 0

    x 2 halves =
PASSING ATT CP YDS SK/YD TD LG IN
    A.Rodgers 52 36 402 6/48 2 43 0 (I'll stick with 0)

That's a damn good game...against the great Cowboys defense (yecchh, I hate saying that). The Pack are in good hands...

Says the man with Gavin Mahon's photo as a signature.

You can judge him on his career, which is why the Pack drafted him at #3 (IIRC) and on what he did against the Cowboys who were trying to hold onto a lead at home. I'd say it's a very valid statement in his favor.

I'm not saying he's going to be the next Favre or Brady, but that the kid is good.

I can judge Gav on 6 bloody years of horrible football, and you should see his hair backin the day!

I'm not saying he didn't play well, he sure as pie did, but what I've seen of him doesn't make him seem any better than your AJ Feelys and your Kyle Bollers.

However, I can't watch the college football that you can, and so my experience of watching him is limited. And so I shall defer my confidence to you.

And on an Footbawl note, I'm currently reading 'Friday Night Lights', the book about High School Ball in Texas. It is the shiznit.

If you are the internet pirate type, you can download the TV show eponymously named. It's actually pretty decent, though I rarely watch it. There is a movie that's pretty good based on the book, too.

High school athletics is very very exciting, in my opinion. I was a little sad when I got to be a little too old to go to HS games, and am now getting to the age where I can go again and pretend to be a parent. It's very real, and the kids are putting their hearts out on the line in every game and on every play. Of course it's not technically as skilled as college or the pros, but I love it. I especially enjoy HS basketball, in a small gymnasium in the dead of winter.

By the way, Boller was a Cal quarterback, too. I don't have his jersey...

I wish my name was AJ Feely. That's awesomely suggestive.

The show was on over here, but on a crap channel and it kept getting moved around the schedules so I lost touch with it. I like it.

One of our analysts over here always refers to Jay Feely as 'Touchy Feely'. God bless Mike Carlson

Watched Colts v Jags last night, very close game which Colts won 28-25.

The better of the Manning brothers was on top form, but the Jags certainly put up a good fight.

Y&P, Fitz or Evasive, perhaps you could explain a little bit about the conspiracy theory the panel were talking about regarding the noise the Colts supporters make?

  17. Y&P

    Y&P Squad Player

Noise generated when the home team are on defense makes false starts more likely to be commited by the 'offense' as they cannot communicate verbally when the snap will occur. Therefore by supposedly feeding in noise the Colts are unfairly trying to get a penalty out of the away team, which is illegal.

    Personally, I don't care.

  18. Evasive

    Evasive Requiescat in pace

Playing in a dome stadium the noise stays in so it helps the Colts in the way that YAP said. That's why the Colts are trying to maximise their home advantage.

When the Titans practice before playing the Colts they practice with simulated noise to try and prevent this 'advantage' counting.

This is also controversial in basketball. The Sacramento Kings were dismissed as a team from a "cowtown" a few years ago by their opponent as they entered the playoffs. (It's true though, I grew up there...sh*tkicker town at the time really..)

Anyway, when the games came to the ALWAYS sold out Arco Arena, the fans brought Cowbells to clang at the opponents.

THe racket was incredible and the opponents were outraged...

Oh my days. I was jumping around the room after the stop at 4th and 1, the one with the timeout, and then after the deflection at 4th and a bit, the one with the holding penalty. And when that ball went in the air, and the defender let it drop! Jesus Christ. It's fate that these cheating arrogant ****s will go undefeated. Or that the 'Mighty' Dolphins beat them in the penultimate game of the season.

  21. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

It would be satisfying to see them lose. SO CLOSE with the Ravens.
Kyle Boller didn't look too bad, but he just couldn't seal the deal, could he...

  22. Y&P

    Y&P Squad Player

Well eventually the Pats will come up against a non-californian educated QB, then they'll be in trouble

  23. Fitz

    Fitz Squad Player

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's been the Cal boys who have not rolled over and assumed the position for the Pats.

Who else came close? I've actualy forgotten...it's all the alcohol.

Tennessee lost to a OT TD from LT.
    (wow that was a mouthful)

We did very well against the Chargers in the 3rd Quarter, but lost their way in the 4th.

Fellows, I don't know if any of you will know about this, but I was thinking of acquiring NCAA Football 08 for the PS2. This is not available in the UK, if I were to import it from the yanks would it work on my great british console? Or is there some way I can get it here?

And I declare the Falcons to be the killers of any NFL game they are in. Could they please compete just once?

Don't get me started on the Vick case! What a joke it is! And none of the media seem to care that he's going away for a competely non-crime, whist someone who took steroids in an effort to cheat got a FOUR GAME SUSENSION.

    Angry Smiley.

I don't think so, as your console won't be chipped. I though the same thing when Madden 07 was coiming out (getting NCAA 07) but I found out it wouldn't work.

I know the feeling. I recently picked up FIFA 06 and even when I play as a team with 5 stars, I can lose very easily.
